Just 7 miles from the town of 29 Palms and the east entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. 360 degree views amid the peace and quiet, beauty and wonder. Perry created a stimulating yet restful desert environment where indoor and outdoor osmosis expands your exposure to the desert he loves. Simple design mixed with intricate patterns excite the eye. Touches of luxury, whimsy, and function make the visitor feel safe but also adventurous. Begin to sense the quiet.

The Tile House sits in the middle of the vast and open desert. You need not walk two feet to be a part of the wilderness, now it is up to you to look around both micro and macro and see what you can see here. Jack Rabbits, Cottontails, Ravens, Scorpions, Desert Iguana, Snakes, Gambel’s Quail, Lesser Night Hawks, Owls, Coyotes, Roadrunners, Sphinx Moths and Kangaroo Rats, flash floods, dust devils, lightening storms, sunsets, summer rains, empty roads, wildflowers and cacti are some of things you might happen to see. So see what you can see. Walk gently in nature. At night, absorb the clear starry skies and August and November meteor showers.
Cradled inside an inspiring work of art you find yourself situated in complete silence, watching the desert light crawl across the vast and intricate landscape around you.
You are ironically completely alone in the middle of nowhere and the center of the universe.
This is the home oƒ artist, Perry Hoffman… however, when not in use it is available as a vacation rental of the most unusual kind. This wilderness home is a treasure trove and visual ƒeast for the eyes.
An indoor Buddha fountain sets a perfect tone for meditation. A two bedroom house with outdoor hot tub and gated courtyard with firepit. iPod dock with speakers. Laundry facility on site. Fireplace and Pellet Stove. A dog-door for your pet to access a fenced and secure yard. Great for large get togethers or a romantic get a way. SL€€PS six

My friends and I rented the Tile House for a New Year retreat. We wanted a secluded, inviting space close to the park but miles away from civilization. From the second we pulled into the driveway, we were blown away by the property. The house and the area surrounding it are a work of art... and that doesn't even begin to do it justice. Every piece of tile, every found object has been carefully placed and arranged with the surrounding objects to form a playful landscape of color and wonder. My friends and I felt as if we were on a constant journey of discovery, as every time we looked at a particular room or wall we would notice another detail that we had overlooked before... maybe it's the tiny rabbit's head peeking up from the floor, maybe it's the hand holding the lights in the courtyard, maybe it's the bowling ball supporting the charger for the lights in the yard, maybe it's the tentacles extending up the posts on the kitchen stools... everywhere you turn in the Tile House, there is something waiting to greet you. Artists, entertainers, creative types, and those who respond strongly to color and texture will be right at home in this space. The kitchen is well-suited for cooking elaborate and tasty meals; the hot tub is perfect for stargazing in the chilly evenings; the wood pellet stove in the living room lends a cheery ambiance to late-night card games, reading, and comraderie; the large surrounding property is great for early morning wildlife sighting (jackrabbits, roadrunners, small birds); the buddha fountain in the center of the house is ideal for morning meditation; and the peace and quiet of the secluded desert is perfect for quieting a busy, overstimulated mind. Last but not least, the owner, Perry, is as gracious and welcoming a host as you could ever hope to find.

Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We stayed at Perry's smaller home on Thanksgiving. It was a great low tech weekend. No TV, No internet, just relaxation. Great place to get away from the stress of life. Cool, funky interior with beautiful tile work.
