Didn't stay in the cabin but used rafting services

My wife and daughter used Eagle Ranch for white water rafting. This was their first time and they had an absolute blast. The guide was very knowledgeable (Doug) and the trip was perfect. We will be back next year!

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

Pet friendly, pleasant and comfortable lodging for our family group of 10 + 2 black labs.

Our family group of 10 enjoyed our stay at eagle ranch. there is a creek with a small waterfall behind the log cabin which is pleasant to listen to as you sit on the screened-in porch or in the hot tub. The dogs loved the creek and the open field in front of the cabin provided a nice area to play ball. that hot tub was really appreciated by all, it was the "hot" spot after returning from our rafting trips. we went rafting on both sat and sun mornings. we were able to cook our meals at the cabin. one evening we had a campfire out back and sat at the picnic tables all evening talking and catching up. another evening we used the charcoal grill provided. we found the staff/ owners to be pleasant, dog lovers. we were thankful to have the washer & dryer (bring your own laundry supplies). the Piggly Wiggly was about 5-10 miles away and had what we needed. the queen beds were made up and ready but we had to find linens for the bunks in the loft. they were in the closet and were clean and smelled nice (we didn't care that they didn't match.). we all slept well. dishes and cookware were provided. when we needed an extra large pot for spaghetti, the staff provided one. we enjoyed our visit to eagle ranch and have recommended it to others. the pictures accurately portray the cabin. the tv is small, but we weren't there to watch tv. the table provided seating for 4 with 2 more at the bar. we put a picnic table on the front porch to provide seating for our whole family at meal time and game time. this is a log cabin, it is not elegant. it is comfortable, safe and cozy. my brothers are very eager to return to raft the ocoee and plan to stay at eagle ranch again. cell phone service was spotty in the mountains, as expected. there were a couple of restaurants near the piggly wiggly, one was a burger king. equipment for the rafting trip and transportation to and from the river was all included in the price. no hidden fees. we arrived in 2 van loads and parking was conveniently located at the side of the cabin.

The cabin was comfortable, clean,and roomy, even with our large group.The internet pictures gave an accurate picture of the cabin. Some of our group hiked the mountain trails.The views were beautiful, around the cabin!! The rafting trip was great, with several good pictures. The rafting group was picked up and returned, right at the cabin. The swimming area, by the Olympic Center,was close by, very pretty.The owner was helpful and accomidating for our large group. Overall, a great experience, and we would visit again. We have recommended this place to friends.

DIRTY BUNK HOUSE!! NOT A VACATION CABIN

This place is not a vacation cabin, it is a BUNK HOUSE for a church. We drove 10 hours to this place and were so disgused the moment we walked in! It had 12 sets or bunk beds and cots set up. Each with a different type of blanket and pillow case that was old and gross. There was even a huge yellow stain on one of the blankets. The utility room had 2 big garbage bags full of dirty laundry, if that weren't enough someone had taken a shower and left their "dirt" in the shower! The hot tub was so dirty, the only way I would get into that is if I wanted to catch some kind of bacteria. When we lifted the lid it smelled so badly of mold! There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher and in the freezer there was a Wal-Mart bag with ice in it. No trays, no ice maker. I guess that was suppose to be our ice for our stay. Don't let the pic.s fool you. We have stayed at many Vacation Cabins before and this is not one. In my opion this is a way for this "mission" to make money when the place isn't being used. We walked up to the mission which the cabin shares the yard with to ask for our money back and were told "we just don't carry that much cash around" and that we would have to wait until the owner got done with his baseball game! Really,,,We didn't get our money back that night but are still awaiting the credit to our card, lets hope we get it. We didn't stay there needless to say but had to set out to find another place that evening in a hurry. Thank goodness we were able to. Please stay away from this place, there are many others to choose from.

Owner response:The writer of the review and her family arrived at Ice Mountain Cabin on Sunday afternoon to check in. The cleaning crew was starting to clean the cabin when our guests arrived. Unfortunately, the cleaning crew was two hours behind the 1pm check in time. Our guests wanted to look inside the cabin which was a mess from the weekend renters. Immediately our guests became agitated and wanted to know how clean the cabin would be when the cleaning crew finished. In addition, they wanted to know why 12 beds were in the cabin...two queen beds in the two master bedrooms and ten single beds, which can be stacked as bunk bed sets. We explained our cabin is advertised as accommodating 12 people and the 12 beds are there in case each person wants their own bed. As we began to discuss the cleaning, our guests became impatient, wanted to leave and demanded to be paid back for their inconvenience. We explained the bookeeper would credit their card for lodging when he arrived in the office Monday morning. As promised, the credit was issued on Monday.
