Why the Owner Chose Carmel By the Sea

As John Steinback, a world traveler said, "There is no more beautiful sight in the world than Point Lobos." There are views of Point Lobos from our balconies and the front living room. I had dated an author that lived in the Carmel Highlands in my late 20's and fell in love with this secluded neighborhood. This is nature at it's finest, looking through the tree silhouettes at sunsets over blue ocean waters. Californians are friendly and fun to be with.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Eating outdoors is a luxury. There are many seating areas on the decks and balconies that make it fun to view the grounds and ocean views from different vistas. As an entertainer, we have loaded the house with the special cooking items like an electric ice cream maker, Belgium waffle maker, and gadgets galore. The assortment of birds and wildlife are fascinating and fun to watch.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

Guest: Unhappy Renter (Illinois)
Date of Stay: 08/15/11 Review Submitted: 10/11/11

While the owner of this property is nice and tried to be accommodating, she lives way too far from this property to know what's really going on there. The house is nowhere near as nice as it sounds. It's extremely worn and dated, and marginally clean. The real inconvenience, especially for the price, is there was no paper towels, kleenex, shower or hand soap, coffee filters for the well used coffee maker, or laundry products, stuff that should be provided in a rental home. There was a huge rug rolled up in from of the washer and dryer that we had to stand on to be able to use the machines. Also, though the master was large, the other bedrooms are built in the lower level and don't have doors! Privacy is a curtain pulled across the entrance, which is large, and each has a double bed, pushed up against one wall making access available from only one side. Hard when you have 2 adults sharing a bed. The bathroom down there is TINY and certainly doen't accommodate all the people this add says it does, unless you're college students! It's also "in" one of the bedrooms. The other area has a pull out couch that is uncomfortable, and we had to hunt for the sheets, blanket and pillows because they were not where it said they would be. Good thing one couple cancelled at the last minuted. Also, the hot tub was filthy, even though it was supposed to have been clearned before we got there. With all the beautiful homes available in this area, we picked a loser. No wonder it was the last one available. Unless you're traveling with a bunch of kids, don't waste your money.

Owner response:Perhaps this is not the best choice for elderly people. It is contemporary and going up and down steps may be difficult for those too old navigate stairs. We certainly understand that older people would not be comfortable on a pull out sofa. Due to this guest's premature arrival in violation of the reservation agreement, it dissrupted the cleaning crew's normal routine. As the house had been rented the night before, there were only a few hours to prepare for the next guest. When this party arrived prematurely it startled the crew, so the cleaning ladies rushed out of the house without disbersing the supplies throughout the house and finishing as they normally do. The soap, shampoo, etc. were in boxes in the laundry room closet. The coffee pot has a built in strainer and does not require filters. The newly purchased linens were in the linen closet. I find it amusing that that they used the hot tub that had been completely drained and professionally cleaned the day prior to their arrival before complaining that it was filthy and wanted a refund. The bathroom downstairs is not huge, but it has both a full bathtub and a walk in shower. He was right about one thing, someone had left an Oriental rug in the laundry room and it did make it difficult to use the washer and dryer. If we had known about this we would have had it removed during their stay. It has since been removed. We were disappointed that they did not enjoy the home as much as most of our guests do.

We had a wonderful week at Carmel for our family vacation. The house is just gorgeous with great ocean views. If you enjoy beautiful gardens, then this is the place for you. There are a lot of outdoor decks where you can enjoy the views and be alone if you wish to. Its just a short drive to downtown Carmel with lots of restaurants and shopping. Hope to be back sometime.

My Family had a wonderful time in this artistically decorated house with a mystery garden for the kids. Everything was top notch and we were pleased to have such a secluded and private experience. Carmel Highlands is a wonderful place and the views are spectacular. We will return in the future. Jewel did a great job! Thanks.

Absolutely wonderful!!!

Guest: Tammy (Indiana)
Date of Stay: 09/16/10 Review Submitted: 09/28/10

We had 9 adults staying for a long weekend, and it was absolutely wonderful! It was even nicer than I'd hoped. The house was beautifully decorated and had some wonderful art, and the views were truly breathtaking! The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful, but close enough to Carmel to pop in for lunch, shopping, or whatever. Jewel was a pleasure to deal with. She was very helpful and answered *all* my questions. We were all blown away by the house, and none of us wanted to leave. I highly recommend this house.

Made our Honeymoon PERFECT

Guest: AubRob (Los Angeles, CA)
Date of Stay: 04/18/10 Review Submitted: 05/04/10

My wife and I stayed in Condor Crest for our honeymoon in mid-April, and it was more than easy for us to let the stresses of marriage planning roll right off. Everything described in this ad is exactly what we found when we walked in. Large but cozy rooms, big, romantic fireplace, soul-soothing ocean view, and uninterrupted privacy. Yet, as secluded as we felt, we were still able to drop into Carmel for lunch, shopping, and gallery hopping in under ten minutes. It's truly the perfect getaway. And Jewel is extremely accommodating and gracious. We would recommend this rental for anyone who wants to find some quiet, clear their mind, and focus on the one they love.
