This oceanfront home is set up as two separate units and can be rented separately or as a whole. Each level has its own kitchen and living areas, 2 bedrooms, and 2 1/2 bathrooms. Each level sleeps 2-7 people. The whole house sleeps up to 14 people and has 4 bedrooms 4 full baths/ 2 half baths. Perfect for giving large families and their spouses private spaces and still be together.
Welcome to Casa Del Sol. At the end of a private lane there awaits the cozy, casual Casa del Sol. While you are here, this is your home. Experience the therapy of waking up and looking at the waves as they reflect the morning sun. Feel the cool ocean breeze and the hot sun. Dive into the sea, walk on the beach, or just sit on the porch. Couch potatoes can watch TV while
looking at the ocean through the expansive glass doors. In the evenings, stargaze and dream.
We have preserved the casual cozy feeling of our beach house while still giving you the conveniences you deserve. There are flat screen TVs in every bedroom and each living area has a large TV with DVDs and VCRs. We have games, books and water toys. Sit in the shady porch or out on the large balcony. Each level has a grill. If your budget is tight, cooking at home can save you more money a day than the cost of the house, so renting a house is a great way to save.
The house is set up as an upstairs/downstairs duplex so that large parties can rent the entire home or smaller parties can rent just half and still feel like they have a beautiful beach house. That means that each floor has 2 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, separate kitchens, living rooms and dining rooms. Each floor accommodates 6 people easily- 8 if your family does not require a lot of personal space.
Each floor of the beach house is decorated differently; showcasing two cities separated by 90 miles of ocean.
The downstairs is called Old Havana. Tropical greens, sunset yellows, palm trees, tiles, and stained wood furniture. It feels like
an oasis from the hot sun. Sit on the porch swing and let the rest of the world do all the work. This floor is at beach level so you just walk out the back porch and your toes are on the sand.
The upstairs is called Key West. Bright apple greens, sky blues, corals, white wood furniture and wood floors. This unit has skylights so you better like bright spaces. The show stopper, however, is its spectacular view.
We have plenty of private parking and are located away from busy A1A. We have a no driving beach. This means unobstructed views and is also safer for kids. The beach is wide, flat and sandy- no cliffs or rocks like the beaches north and south of us.
There are at least 4 restaurants within one block. The closest one sells newspapers. Shops are also within walking distance. For those who need some pampering, there is a spa a couple blocks south. The restaurant at the end of the street has a public pool. The surf shop next to it rents surfboards and give lessons.
The oldest and (in my opinion) most romantic town of St Augustine is a 10 minute drive away. There is a shuttle that takes you back and forth. Be prepared to feel like you have stepped back in time to a town somewhere in Spain.
We want Casa del Sol to become your beach home that you return to as a yearly tradition. A place where you have many great memories of carefree times with family and friends. So we have one very important rule: When you step on our porch, please leave your troubles behind -relax and enjoy.

Year Purchased: 2004
My husband and I are high school sweethearts. We have two grown sons, a beautiful daughter-in-law and two gorgeous grandsons. We married very young, have completely different backgrounds (which explains why we decorated one level like Havana and the other like Key West). We have had very different careers and interests throughout our lives. Fortunately, our ultimate goals have always been the same so, little by little, we built on our dreams. A beach house was one of those dreams- although 33 years ago, it seemed so unattainable. Our vision was very specific. We did not want just any beach house. We wanted one in an area that felt like the old days; a safe, small town- where you can walk into a restaurant and feel like you belong. We wanted a real beach, with soft sand and not large crowds. A house that felt like a beachhouse, not a palace. Where we could be recharged, instead of drained. We wanted to share it with family and friends and make it a place that memories are made. Where kids grow up and want to take their families. In todays world, we all need someplace like that. By the time we started looking for the house, we knew exactly what town we wanted. This house is an example that dreams do come true. Every day, the sun will rise and we have another chance to achieve our goals- whatever they may be. Casa del Sol is proof.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Casa del Sol is located in St Augustine beach. This beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the east coast for many reasons. First, not many people know about it, so the beach is not crowded. There are driving sections and nondriving sections. The beach in front of Casa del Sol is nondriving- which we love. Second, the beach is wide and the sand is soft. Most beaches to the north and south of us can not make that claim. Third, if you like that old fashion beachy town feeling- this is it. This is not the fake tourist town, this is the real thing. If you want your kids to experience that wholesome, safe, carefree feeling where bike rides and walking to restaurant are the norm- this is it. Fourth, the view from the house is humbling. Looking at that beautiful ocean puts everything in perspective very quickly. Problems go to the back of your mind and your blessings come forward. Fifth, the house itself is so cozy, comfortable, bright and happy. You "feel" the happy memories that have taken place here. We have preserved the original layout of the house, so that each level has a kitchen, living room and dining room along with 2 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. We recognize that even close families still need a little private space. Sometimes the guys may want to watch football in one living room and the kids may want to watch a movie in the other. A puzzle may be set up in one dining table and a family dinner in the other. Sixth, we are 10 minutes away from the oldest, most beautiful town in this country. Worth its weight in gold for its history alone- I think it is worth even more for its romantic powers. Seventh, if you want the crowds, Orlando is about 1 hour away and Marineland about 1/2 hour away. We have a huge outlet mall, golfing, surfing, fishing and just about anything else you may want to do (as long as snow is not needed). The question is not, why stay here? The question is: why wouldn't you?
