Best value on Maui!

My daughter and I stayed for a week and had a wonderful time. The view from the condo is superb! We enjoyed meeting some of the permanent residents & made friends with some nice ladies from Seattle. The turtles were awesome! We will return to this unit - won't stay in Kihei again - for the peace and quiet, beautiful grounds and (as I said before) the superb view. Everything was as expected, plus beach towels and other goodies available. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Our Best Maui Stay Yet!!

This was our 3rd time in Maui. Previously, we stayed at the Whaler & at the Sheraton (on the busier side of Ka'anapali Beach). This time, we decided to do things a little more economically and were surprised to find that although we paid much less than our previous accomodations, we LOVED this place and it was our best stay yet! The environment at the Kuleana was quiet, serene, and lovely. The beach area is FULL of sea turtles, much to my 3-yr-old's delight! The condo itself had so many wonderful items inside: the kitchen was well stocked with the normal dishes & such, but also had spices as well as many other condiments & dressings that previous visitors had left. In the closet near the bathroom, we found a boogie board, beach chairs, flippers, and even a snorkel set! What a pleasant surprise! We loved being on the ground floor because it was so easy to walk right outside to the pool or the ocean. But we didn't even have to leave our condo to enjoy the amazing views! We would sit on the sofa and just stare out at the beautiful ocean and fantastic landscaping. I would absolutely stay here again!

At first I thought something like this was a scam. Having to send money to California was a little scary at first. But the property manager for the owner was great! Melody and I loved this unit and will look to come back! (we only stayed one week in June) Swam with giant Sea turtles. They were there every day! Don't pay to see them at the Ocean Center or Snorkel trips listed for $100+ when you can get that from the Private Beach that is 50ft from the Condo. BBQ'd with a beer a few nights in a row, watching the sun set. Was actually surprised to find many other Canadians staying at near by condo's too. Made it feel like home, minus the need to wear extra clothing. Location/complex needed a Hot Tub. It would have been nice to have a place to relax after the sun goes down. Pool is great for kids though, although the Unit is a little small for 3+ people. We did find some very small ants one morning on the kitchen counter being we did leave some food out one night. Took only 5 minutes to cure the problem, and they never came back. Make sure you don't leave the door open with food out, this is a ground unit remember. We Did the road to Hana, Hiked Iao valley (hours beyond the tourist spot), Watched sunrise at Haleakala Crater summit, Hung out with many stray cats and chickens in various parks, Hiked Twin Falls (there is actually 4 waterfalls if you are willing to explore), Checked out Every Beach, did some 4x4ing on the northwest side, and drove around the entire Island in a Rental Jeep. South east, and North West drives were a little tight at times, but Locals are understanding as long as you smile! This place also can be good for anyone in a wheelchair if they take the side gate entrance and approach from the pool area. Very Friendly once the route is figured out. Unit also has blenders, bottle openers, dishes etc. We even left some Mustard and Ketchup for the next people, hope they use it if the cleaners don't throw it out. Washer Dryer, newer TV, boogie board is broken from previous people I guess. Unit is pretty much turn key, minus food. Needless to say, Great for us, or a Retired Couple. It was the best place to go if you are looking for a base camp, or even place to relax. Why spend $600/night at a resort with crowded beaches, Fake waterfalls, and food that doesn't taste any better then what you can cook yourself in half the time?! Make sure you don't try to rush anything. Its Maui Time. Relax

mixed emotions

I have mixed emotion about our stay at this unit. The location is fantastic, right on the water, the pool is heated and great. To BBQ Oceanside with the whales breaching offshore as the sun set was a memory I will cherish. The unit itself was not bad in that it had everything, was convenient and functional, we just had a lot of little things that left a bit of a taste. We were there for a week. The in room safe didn't work, I put new batteries in and it did, the garburator stopped with about 3 days left and started to back up. I would have contacted the owner but the internet went down 3 days in so we had no access to e-mail. We did see tiny ants in the kitchen and bathroom but there was bug spray in the kitchen cabinet. The biggest shocker came on our last day when my wife woke to take a shower and was greeted with a small mouse in the tub! I caught it with a measuring bowl and set him free out from the lanai. The unit is ground floor and I'm guessing the buildings were originally built 20 or 30 years ago so you might expect some non-human visitors, but it rattled us a bit. Loved the complex, maybe just a comedy of errors for us, we were on vacation so made the best of it.
Owner response:It is unfortunate that these issues were not communicated, for as an owner it is important to know that our unit is being looked after and kept up to the highest standard possible. Any time a guest has an issue we respond immediately and without question. While the Internet can be tricky "on island", the front desk as well as the local agent listed on the key ring to the pool and unit are always be able to address any issue quickly and to the satisfaction of the guest. Your concerns are being addressed today through our local agent. Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay. It is very important that all of our guests have a wonderful vacation and great memories.

We could not have picked a more wonderful place to stay for our first trip to Hawaii. We walked in and fell in love with the place. The location was wonderful and the pictures do not lie. It really is that close to the ocean. We have already recommended it to friends and I am already checking the availabilty for our next trip. Hopefully we can stay longer next trip. It was nice to have the washer and dryer right in the unit and nice to be able to unpack our things so we didn't feel like we were living out of our suitcases. It is a wonderful quite atmosphere and will definately stay here again.

My husband and I spent 8 nights at this beautiful resort with our 5 month old. Fantastic ocean view, and great sunsets from the deck. Amazing beach with turtles that can be seen from the shore. The pool is well maintained, and the gardens are fabulous!!! We would definitely stay here again!!

I feel so lucky to have picked this place for 6 days and 6 nites stay in January. I just looked at the photos my mom sent me from our trip and this place is beautiful and, I believe, really special. It was comfortable, clean, convenient, and beautiful. Having the laundry right in our unit was very convenient and everything else we needed or wanted was there. The turtles, seeing whales from the lanai, the heated swimming pool, the beautiful landscaping, the quiet, grilling oceanside, and being able to hear the ocean from the living room sleeper (where I prefered to sleep to listen!) - these are just some of my great memories from our stay at #501 Kuleana.

We just got back from this wonderful place. It is really the very best vacation rental we have experienced. Beautiful setting on ocean, beach, swimming pool, flowers... just on the back yard. We saw so many fish and big green turtle right on the beach at the backyard! The unit is well taken care of, and has everything you need for a home away from home. Thanks for the owner (Bill) to share this great unit with the guests.

We just returned from our vacation at the wonderful Kuleana Resort. This condo was everything the owners said it was and we were so pleased. It truly made our stay on Maui that much more pleasant. The view from the Lanai is spectacular and the furnishings in the condo, very comfortable. We can't wait till next year when we hope to go again.

We were more than pleased with our months vacation at the Kuleana Resort. The Unit was great, it was clean and very comfortable and has a fully equipped kitchen and is everything the pictures show it to be. It was everything we hoped for and then some. We found the entire staff at the Kuleana to be very helpful. The gardens are absolutely spectacular and immaculate. Being that you really need a rental car in Maui it was not hard at all to get around ... sightseeing, groceries, and the Beach Parks were a whole new experience for us, even though we had access to our own beach at the Kuleana. The pool and the BBQ's were cared for every day and kept very clean. All in all it was a great rental for a great vacation. Mahalo, Don & Georgina
