Location: Balcones, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Central Mexico, Mexico (3.5 hr drive to Mexico City; 1.5 hr drive to Leon)

In this old part of San Miguel de Allende, where ruins co-exist with spectacular modern architecture, the oldest little church was built in 1571 - dedicated to St. Joseph, San Jose and situated on the Hill of St. Joseph, the Cuesta de San Jose.
To the north, our neighborhood borders a very attractive walking and hiking area, offering a splendid ravine and botanical gardens with an abundance of bird life.
To the south you will find, amongst ruins, winding little streets and colorful alleyways.
A ten-minute walk east takes you to a supermarket, while a ten-minute walk west takes you to the centre, passing a variety of little mom-and-pop stores. The walk up might take a little longer, however, a taxi from the centre only costs $1.50-$2.00 in US currency.
We chose this area to build our dream house, and after many years it has come to completion. We built the apartment for rental purposes. It has a very cozy sitting and dining area with a flower-filled little balcony. The colors are warm and Mexican. Upstairs you find a studio and rooftop balcony, which gives you a magnificent view over San Miguel and its distant mountains.
If you would have one or two guests visiting during your stay, we could accommodate them in a beautiful adjacent private bedroom with bathroom and a large balcony for $55 per night with a two-night minimum.
