- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Our traditional and, folks tell us, very charming and warm old island home - with recent historic designation - is located a few yards from the beautiful path to the beach and is just 20 minutes from Charleston.
Sullivan's Island is across the Inland Waterway with semi-tropical terrain, wide, sandy beaches, historic Fort Moultrie, a lively and varied restaurant area, public tennis courts and an old-time playground with grandstand gazebo.
,
Most pets warmly welcomed!
Go crabbing, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, and sailing in the ocean or in the inlets and creeks leading to the waterway. Sullivan's Island is the site of novels of many well-known authors: Edgar Allen Poe (The Gold Bug), DuBose Heyward (Porgy and Bess), and Pat Conroy (The Prince of Tides).
Just 15 yards away from the footpath to the beautiful beach on the Atlantic Ocean, the duplex's upper level has private entrances, four bedrooms (one King, two with double beds, one with twin beds), two baths, and comfortably accommodates eight people. Living room, dining room; Ceiling fans in each room. Central Air Conditioning/Heat. Large screened front porch; Rooftop Deck with 360 degree views of the ocean, the harbor and the island.
The large, screened, front porch with plush furniture serves as a second living area. A winding staircase at the end of the porch leads to a fully furnished rooftop deck with gorgeous 360-degree views of the ocean and island.

We enjoyed getting married near Charleston and brought our friends and family to the beach house to have a wonderful taste of the lowcountry. It was relaxing, beautiful and truely a wonderful vacation spot. Everything was furnished, a fully fuctional kitchen and the beach at Sullivans's Island is still non-commerical and one of the finest. The local food, friends from many states, and the wonderful furnishings of the beachhouse made this a priceless memory. I would recommend this rental to anyone who is ready to relax in true island form.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Rachel, we had such a relaxing and wonderful time at your beach house. The location is perfect---close to the beach but not over run with crowds. We really enjoyed the sky deck. We spent afternoons up there with friends from Mt. Pleasant. My husband also took advantage of the screened porch (especially for little naps!). The house feels steeped in history and was exactly as described. It was very well stocked with everything. The bed and furniture were very comfortable. It is nicely decorated and so roomy. We are planning to return--if not for the winter at least for next spring. Thank you for sharing your beach home with us. It was a delight working with you.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Oh, thank you so much. We loved having you there and are so happy you want to come back!!

We enjoyed staying here as a family for the second year in a row during our Thanksgiving break. The Wifi system worked well, the easy access to walk the beach, and the well stocked kitchen all made our family's time here comfortable and memorable. Rachel is always delightful as a remote hostess and readily available to answer questions we had about arrival, payment and departure. Thanks for sharing your family home!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Great beach house. Our whole family, grandparents, parents & kids, had a wonderful time there. The house has clearly been well loved and well used. While not new, everything is up to date and fully equipped. The deck has the best view imaginable. On the 4th of July we could see fireworks on Follly Beach, Charleston and Isle of Palms! The location on the beach is good and just a few steps away. Owner is very helpful, patiently answered all our questions. We left some clothes in the closet and she had them mailed to us right away.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

This is a delightful house, very comfortable, close to the beach. It is well maintained, and has a charming air to it. If you are looking for very modern amenities, this would not be the place for you. It does have Internet, which is helpful. No wireless. It does have TVs, but we never actually turned them on. The front porch is spacious and delightful for lounging, eating breakfast, reading. The owner is most helpful in answering questions and concerns, and the fellow who lives in the lower apartment is very friendly and helpful.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners.

We stayed at this lovely house in June and can't wait to go back! It reminded me so much of the house I stayed in as a child when my cousin owned a place at the beach. The cypress paneling and floors and the wonderful spacious kitchen were first class! They don't make houses like this anymore. I spent much time on the screened porch. In the morninings, it was so quiet and so pleasant to listen to the beach sounds and revel in nature. One night we had such a breeze that I got a throw and put it over my legs! In June, in South Carolina! I did get up on the top deck one night and was amazed at the stars and the full moon. The owner is a jewel and even called to see if we had everything we needed. This house has everything and is a short walk to the beach. We had a wonderful time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My family spent a week in this home in May 2010. They really enjoyed their introduction to Charleston and especially Sullivan's Island. The location was convenient to downtown (they were in town for a graduation) and so peaceful and quiet all at the same time. And the view from the rooftop was spectacular! If I can gather them up again for a visit, we will certainly be back at this beach house!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a fabulous time and hated to come home! We had everything we needed at the house, and the weather was great. The beach was just fantastic. I would get up at six every morning and walk out to the lighthouse and I so enjoyed the dogs on the beach (and so did the kids). We went to Fort Moultrie, Fort Sumter, USS Yorktown, and of course downtown Charleston several times. The house was so convenient for all of those things. We truly appreciate all of your thoughtfulness and the use of your home. Maybe we can do it again next year!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children.

We had a wonderful time in your beach home. Thank you so much for renting it to us. I love the feel of the house. My family went to the beach every summer when I was a child and the houses always had a wonderful beach feel. The beach was a close walk and the street felt like a neighborhood. The kids had a good time and really enjoyed the house and location. Toby (the very wonderful bichon) also had a great time. Thank you for sharing your beach house it was a wonderful (and very hot) week.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners.
