Seabiscuit -Steps to Beach/Pool/Beach Access
Year Purchased: 2003
Why the Owner Chose Summer's Edge
We chose the Seabiscuit and Summer's Edge for several reasons. First, at the time we purchased our home our children were 4, 6 and 8 years of age so we wanted a home that was on the beach side of 30-A, close to the beach with views, something in a neighborhood so that our kids would be able to play, and lastly I wanted to be close enough to a pool that I could enjoy a mom moment and still be able to see the kids or hear them through a baby monitor. We also have a special needs son so we wanted to make sure that we found a home that would allow him to come and go from the beach and pool without our help. Summer's Edge and the Seabiscuit met each and every one of our needs.
The Unique Benefits at this House
When staying at the Seabiscuit you will enjoy the fact that you are only 50 yards to the ocean, with views on all 3 levels, 1 lot from the beach access and only about 30 steps from 1 of 2 community pools. Our home features porches on all 3 levels with either porch swings, rocking chairs or sun chairs so there are plenty of places to get away for some quite time. We have 3 main master suites so each family member will have their own space. Because I have 3 children, our home is very family oriented and once you open the front doors you will feel right at home. Our home is equipped with everything you will need to have that perfect family vacation. The only thing you will need to bring is yourself and your beach towel.
Owner's Map of Summer's Edge
When my husband and I first got married he told me that when he turned 40 he wanted his mid-life crisis to be a beach home and in October of 2003 the Seabiscuit became our second home. We had the closing on a Friday and celebrated him turning 40 on Saturday. I could not have asked for a better mid-life crisis.

What a perfect vacation! My family, which includes 2 young children, 2 teenagers, and my in-laws loved our stay at Seabiscuit. This was our first stay in a Florida beach house, and the Seabiscuit accommodated all 8 of us with plenty of room to spare! The house, neighborhood, and community exceeded our expectations. The Seabiscuit home was in perfect condition upon arrival. The housekeeping staff does an excellent and thorough job. The home is beautifully decorated and is a perfect distance from the beach and pool. The owners were easy to work with, have thought through every detail, and provide so many amenities for their guests. From the bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler, sand toys, movie collection, outdoor shower, king size beds, down to the thoroughly appointed kitchen, we didn’t wish for anything that wasn’t available right at our fingertips! We prepared and cooked most meals in the kitchen which felt just like home. The bunk room was a hit with my young kids. We loved that our teenagers could walk to the beach and bike to Seaside independently. The location was amazing and felt so safe - a short 2 mile bike path all the way to Seaside, where there are restaurants, cute shops, outdoor movies and concerts. The house had all the amenities we could ask for! We are already talking about planning our next stay at Seabiscuit!

Seabiscuit was a wonderful place for our adult children and grandchild to come together for a memorable vacation. The home is gorgeously decorated with a beach emphasis. The gourmet kitchen offers so much space for our family to cook together - fun for us! The beds were very comfortable. We loved being able to spread out on the three levels. The porches on each level had a view of the ocean. My grandson and I enjoyed the porch swing on the entrance porch. He loved the bucket to dip his sandy feet into. The outdoor shower to refresh before going into the home had warm water too! My grandson loved the red wagon to be pulled through in the neighborhood. Every amenity has been really thought through by the owners to meet a family's needs. Just a few yards away is a great community pool. The beach is just a short walk from the home through the path to the ocean to put your feet on the white, soft sand! Our family hopes to meet up again at the Seabiscuit where treasured family memories were made. Madison, GA

What a perfect beach house -- we had never rented a house before and are now spoiled rotten! We had two families of four and the house accommodated all 8 of us perfectly. It was so comfortable and nicely decorated. The kitchen was better stocked than mine at home and having the beach chairs, umbrellas and bikes there for our use was fabulous. We also loved being on such a nice, quiet street and enjoyed sitting on the front porch. The pool was steps away and the walk to the beach was no trouble at all. We would return to the Seabiscuit tomorrow if we could! Thanks to Kimberly for making the rental so easy :)

This house is as close to perfect as it gets. The location is fantastic. It's very easy to get to. It's just off the beaten path, but only a couple of minutes to anything and everything (shopping, restaurants, grocery store, etc...). Seaside and a Publix is less than 5 minutes away. So when you want to unwind, you have a secluded development with the pool just steps from the front door and the beach is a 1-2 minute walk. The pool was very nice, clean and quiet. I think it's heated, as it was VERY comfortable. Plenty of seating in and out of the pool. And the beach....WOW - it's a private stretch that's just beautiful. You can rent an umbrella and chairs (very reasonable), or you can carry them from the house (which had about 10 chairs when we were there, along with kids toys, bikes and even a wagon to carry everything). The house itself is exactly like the pictures - beautiful, tastefully decorated and roomy. It is more well stocked than our house. Pots, pans, glass, plates, KIDS plates and cups, spatulas, misc utensils....you name it, this house has it. Except for the daily breakfast, we only cooked in once, but we could have eaten there every night and felt right at home. (if you want to cook fresh seafood, Goatfeathers has a fish market less than a mile down the road, with shrimp, fresh fish, oysters, etc...). Great table for eating, could probably fit 10 people in a pinch (8 easily) and there's the barstools facing the kitchen to seat 3 more Bedrooms were great, very roomy, comfy mattresses and nice linens. Towels and toiletries were very nice as well. The bunkbeds were nice (our young daughter thought it was the coolest thing ever and HAD to sleep there). Plenty of movies, games and puzzles downstairs for the kids and adults. Great closets, a washer/dryer, dishwasher, garbage disposal. Really, the only thing you need to bring is beach towels and your bathing suit. The top floor patio was fantastic. Early morning views with coffee, a professional swedish massage for my wife, late night cocktails, etc....it was the perfect hangout spot. The view was tremendous, as it is from the Master bedroom balcony. To top it off, the owners were just fantastic to deal with. They were so nice and accommodating from start to finish. It is clear that they really care about their home and their guests. We are already looking at the calender to book our next trip to Seabiscuit. Thanks so much for making our visit a great one and we can't wait to come back down.

Our family had a great spring break vacation at the Seabiscuit cottage. It is a wonderful, clean, fully equipped house that feels like home. The house was clean, the beds comfortable, and had good views of the water from the second and third floors. There were bikes, sand and water toys, kids movies and a grill all available for our use. I loved the front porch swing and the proxemity to the community pool. Kimberly, the owner, was extremely helpful, friendly and full of hospitality. I would highly recommend this house for a family rental in Summer's Edge. Seagrove Beach is so beautiful, the water is clear blue and the sand white and clean. This area is as beautiful as the Carribean, but with a Southern flair. We will be back and will tell our friends!

This house is darling - great beach decor, very comfortable and just steps to one of the most lovely beaches in Florida. The master bedroom suite is beautiful; the other bedrooms quite nice and nicely decorated in bright, fun colors. The hall bunks on the 2nd floor were a great spot for our youngest. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here and found the Smith's to be very accomodating and gracious hosts - everything with the set-up and payment went smoothly and we received our deposit back immediately. We'd go back.

Our family (children and grandchildren) has vacationed at the Seabiscuit for 3 years. Grandchildren begin asking after Christmas how much longer till Seabiscuit. We adore the house, so close to the beach, and so well appointed, always clean. And we love being here rather than in Destin -- restaurants we prefer are in this area, and traffic moves much more smoothly here. Beach area great!

The Seabiscuit is a charming beach house with comfortable accommodations, perfect proximity to the pool and beach, and lots of room. The kid-friendly house made our trip with adult children and grandchildren memorable. The adults loved the decor and comfortable beds. The kids loved the toy chest, the specially placed bunkbeds, and the outdoor shower with hot water. Additionaly, the owners could not have been more helpful and responsive.
