Keywords:  Ranch House and Farm

Our private 3000 Sq Foot Ranch House is located on our 40-acre working farm and equestrian event center. Located in the foothills of Ventura County. We are a family run, working ranch secluded in a small valley between the town of Moorpark and the community of Somis. Go to our website for Tons of Photos. You can Google Meadows of Moorpark or use the Link Below.

People are amazed at our island of paradise, located only 40 minutes from Los Angeles and 30 minutes to great pacific surfing spots of the "Rincon."

We are a horse center and working avocado ranch. Our Ranch is for someone who wants to get away from the city, but close enough to visit. Don't be fooled by other mini-ranches, they often are nothing more than a guest house in a 1-acre rural neighborhood. The Ranch house is the real deal. Our privacy and real orginal homestead environment is our gem.

Feel free to come visit our family and ranch any time and check out the farm before hand.

The words, "room and space" are defined at the Meadows. Our Dad designed it 32 years ago for our large family. It can be yours and 13 of your best friends in the four giant, private bedrooms.

The Ranch House represents "California Style" and has been used in the filming of commercials and movies. Some stay on our private ranch to avoid the Paparazzi (we can meet your security needs.)

The ammenities are almost endless and the porch-laundry room is bigger than most kitchens. People tell us that they like to visit the ranch house for an "off the map" rural retreat. The large 30X30 “Great Room” is the centerpiece of the house and you get that cozy 1800's ranch feeling while sitting by the massive fireplace and watching the wildlife.

Many people rent the ranch for quiet family get togethers, horse events or even romantic get-aways. Why rent 4 hotel rooms for the family reunion?

Our house sleeps 14 in a variety of bed sizes and is located at the end of a tree lined private driveway-entrance. We even have a 16 person bunkhouse and detached cottage that sleeps two. We designed our restaurant-size kitchen before it was vogue. There are 3 bathrooms, numerous nooks , and perfect reading areas.

Wi-Fi in the whole house, Satellite Television, DVD and outdoor movie area.

Step out side and see our 100 year-old ranching implements and barns. We are a working ranch and do have activities occurring, tractoring, orchards and farm work in our adjoining canyons.

Take a walk up the hiking trails to the pond and picnic areas. We have a real working Santa Maria Barbecue that can cook for 75. We have outdoor heaters and campfire areas for year-round enjoyment. Do you like to see the stars at night. Make smores at our campfire center is only 30 feet from the ranch house and is the #1 favorite of guests. You will enjoy watching the Milky Way and shooting stars almost nightly.

We have a giant pool and outdoor spa that across the meadow about 250 yards away.

Romance and Ranch House both start with an "R". There is a reason, the Meadows Ranch House is the epitomy of a peacful ambiance.

Note: Out of common sense and respect for our adjoinng farms, we do not host weddings, large parties with live bands etc.. We can hook you up with nearby wedding areas approved.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1978

Raised on our ranch. We are a farming and horse family and live and work on the ranch. Our houses are on the other side of the ranch, 1/2 mile away, close enough to make sure your needs are met and still allowing total privacy. We have many farming activites going on, and when possible, always offer up a chance for guests to jump in. A slice of rural California just 45 minutes to Los Angeles, 10 minutes to Moorpark and Camarillo Wedding areas. 20 minutes to Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Ventura.

Why the Owner Chose Moorpark

We bought the ranch over 34 years ago. It is the Oliver 1890 homestead and the Oliver's taught us how to farm. We loved the seclusion of our "Long Canyon" and have great ranching and farming neighbors.

The Unique Benefits of this Farmhouse

Relaxation, privacy, nature, space and quiet, with the ocean and cities just 10-20 minutes away.

Great Weekend For All!

Guest: Dan (Redondo Beach, CA)
Date of Stay: 08/25/11 Review Submitted: 08/30/11

We stayed at the Ranch house for a 3 day wedding weekend. We had friends and family that came in from out of town for a wedding (at the Walnut Grove), and the house served as a great home base for all who stayed there. Tammy and Randee were gracious hosts and the house had everything one could want when hosting 15 people. We spent many hours by the pool, playing lawn games and just relaxing on the grounds. We all hope to come back some day with our future families for a reunion. Thanks!

A great find!

What a lovely idyllic retreat! The farmhouse is spacious, elegant and beautifully furnished with antiques. The property is lovely and sits among beautiful horse properties and avocado and orange groves. I especially enjoyed the equestrian ambiance and walking the cross country course. My husband was smitten with the pigeon coop and the music of the turtle doves and birds. We enjoyed our outdoor barbecues and the nice kitchen. The location was perfect for our sojourns to the Reagan Library (15 minutes) and the Getty Museum and museums around Pasadena (40 min. to 1 hr. -- not bad for L.A. and you get to stay in the country!). The owners are friendly and charming and have thought of everything to make their guests welcome and at home. I highly recommend this place and hope to return.

I was referred to The Meadows by 2x Equestrian Olympian. My stay was so amazing and perfect. The clubhouse was spacious, comfortable, and convenient. The grounds are spectacular. The owners are delightful. I highly recommend, equestrian or not, that this is THE PLACE to stay. I promise, I'll be back!

Excellent vacation site!

Guest: Chara (Nyon, Switzerland and Stirling, Scotland)
Date of Stay: 09/03/10 Review Submitted: 01/29/11

Over the past three years I have come to California from both Scotland and Switzerland to enjoy the 'California Experience'. I have had the pleasure of staying at The Ranch House on two occasions. August 2008 and September 2010. Both times provided lifetime memories that I will treasure for the rest of my life. The ranch house setting is wonderful for large families or group reunions. My two visits were both reunions with great friends. The facilities provide ample room for group gatherings and private space that allow everyone the opportunity for solitude if/when wanted. The open plan in the main living area lets the cooks in the kitchen visit and socialize as everyone else chills out in the dining/living area. The laundry room (huge) off the kitchen makes it really easy to 'multi-task' and have fun at the same time. Each bedroom has its own qualities and that makes it hard to decide which one to 'grab' upon arrival! The outdoor space is just as special as the indoor. The fire pit was a great space to gather in the evenings for talks about what we had done during the day. I enjoyed the tour of the surrounding area with views of the ocean at one point that took my breath away. The avocado orchard and corrals just added to 'The California Experience' that I had hoped for. Finally, the host of The Ranch House, Tammy and Tim Hagel, are two of the nicest people you will ever meet in your life. They made us feel like we were part of their family and could not have been kinder. Their knowledge of the area and the love and care that they have for their property shows through in everything they do. I would recommend staying here to anyone who is looking for FUN in California!!!

Family Reunion

Guest: Mark (Evanston, IL)
Date of Stay: 08/15/10 Review Submitted: 08/30/10

My family loved staying at this Moorpark Ranch for a family reunion. The ranch house is super clean, comfortable ans spacious: I think our house would fit in the living room! The on-site staff were available as needed and couldn't be more helpful. It is a perfect place for a City-dweller's get-a-way. We used the ranch for a family reunion for members for our mid-western family to meet-up with family from northern and southern Cal. The kitchen was big enough for two families to cook at once, with outdoors space galore for an evening fire or meals by the patio. the pool is also a big plus - our kids loved the going form the pool to the hot-tub. I highly recommend it as a laid-back place to hang-out with your family.

Family Reunion

Guest: Family Reunion (Oakland, California)
Date of Stay: 10/10/08 Review Submitted: 08/28/10

Our family is spread between northern and southern California. We even have a brother in Europe. We found the Moorpark ranch house by googling. We wanted a place all our families could use as a home base. We had grandparents, cousins, brothers and sisters. We even used the cottage for my folks. It was great with it's own kitchen and quiet location from the grandkids. We cooked huge dinners outside each night, there are tons of tables and chairs for a big family.Everything is big on the ranch. The owner even took out kids on a tractor ride and we bagged our next Christmas photo. They loved catching polywogs at the pond.

Mahalo

Guest: Mahalo (Hawaii)
Date of Stay: 06/11/10 Review Submitted: 08/28/10

Mahalo, means thank you in Hawaiian. Thank you to Tammy and Randee who are the perfect hosts. We live in the Honolulu area and love to come to California once a year to make sure we don't get Island fever. The Ranch House has been our quiet California Ranch House get away for the last 4 years. With just two of us, we get lost in the giant house. I know it sounds crazy, but what I like is the ranch has Wi-Fi so I can get my work done on my lap top while sipping coffee in bed. They said it was a real ranch and they were right. I saw my first coyote up at the pond.

We brought our family from Florida. The spring time on the ranch was incredible. We loved the hikes on the trails and went to Universal Studios, about an hour away. Tammy and her sister Randee treated our kids like family.
