Bolivar is Back! It has been one year since Hurricane Ike devastated the peninsula and the transformation is amazing! The local residents dove right in and started the rebuilding of the area. Today many of the businesses are up and running again and home repair and new construction can be seen every where. There are now gas stations, convenience stores, lumberyards and restaurants open including the Big Store, the Stingaree and the Tiki Bar as well as the brand new Coconuts Bar.. Our home survived and the necessary repairs have been made so it is just like new! It will be many months before it is back to "normal" but the peninsula still has so much to offer: great fishing, great beaches and quietude, wonderful restaurants and some of the nicest people in the country! And Galveston Island is a short ferry ride away for a myriad of entertaiment: fine restaurants, amusement parks, golf and shopping on the Strand to name a few.

The beaches have been cleaned and sifted and they are more beautiful than ever. And the fishing at Rollover Pass is still a major attraction.

The geo tube has been removed (it was severely damaged by Ike)so the beach and ocean are a short, flat walk from our home. Enjoy your first cup of coffee on the upper deck while watching the sun come up over the bay and return from the beach in time to enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the sun set. The back deck overlooks a 450 acre Audubon sanctuary with a large variety of migratory birds. There is a private beach access to miles and miles of sandy beach for walking, shelling, building sand castles or just watching the dolphins frolic in the waves.

The fully equipped kitchen has a breakfast bar and a large table for entertaining. The great room has a TV and a DVD player plus a game table and wet bar. There are two queen sized beds (with pillow top mattresses) and 2 bunk beds with double beds on the lower. There is also a sleeper sofa for extra sleeping space.

The lower deck offers 1500 square feet of outdoor living space with great views of the ocean and the Audubon Sanctuary. Galveston Island is a short drive and a ferry ride away and offers every kind of entertainment imaginable: shopping and dining on the Strand, amusement and water parks, museums, fine or casual dining, antique shops, biking and water sports to mention a few.

Winter rates (Oct 15th through April 15th): $895 per week (7 days/6 nights) or $450 per weekend.
Summer rates (April 15th through October 15th) $1795 per week (7 days/6 nights)or $895 per weekend. This price includes linens and towels (not beach towels). Reserve your week early-there are not nearly as many rentals as there used to be.

Please note that this house is Oceanfront (the ocean is clearly visible with no other houses in between it and the ocean). It is not Beachfront (directly on the sandy beach). The beach is across the street just 100 yards from our front door. Our association owns the lot directly across from our home on the beach; you can walk or drive right to the beach.
This is not a party house and is reserved for our more discerning guests who will appreciate and respect it.
