Everything about this home is first class from the 52" wide screen TV to the huge 24' x 24' master bedroom. We have set this home up for our retirement and thus it is equipted and furnised much nicer that a typical lake rental. We are very carefull to select guests that appreciate the extras and take care of them. Our goal is that everytime a new guest walks in the home they are impressed and more than satisfied when the leave. Most of our guest return year after year. 2010 is was our third season and we continue to increase our bookings. We had only one open week between March 14 and Oct. 10 so if you want to stay for your first time or come for a return stay and get the week you want, I suggest you book early. This year our family will be using it more which means there will likely be less weeks available.
Our Lakeside screened house that we call our Summer House is a 20 x 20 ft building that is divided in half. The back half is our private storage. The lake side half is for our guest use and includes large table with 6 chairs, overhead fans and lights and a fountain. We have also added a large kids playhouse and play area including swings and a white sand beach.
We have added Lealand Cypress and Crape Myrtles from the lake to the road on the property line to give us more privacy. We have also added over 75 azealeas, camelias and gardenias and hundreds of bulbs along the lake, walks and house. Can't wait until spring to see them blooming. We also added walk lights from house to dock. Swimming ladder on dock. New walks and lighting from house to dock connecting new patio at screened house.
Located on Shull Island, the premiere Lexington side of Lake Murray, this one story lake home is situated on a large level 1 1/2 acre peninsula lot and has a fantastic main lake view. The cove is idle speed, "No Wake" and great for swimming and fishing. New sundeck offers new optional 5 person hot tub.
The home now has 3400+/- sq. feet of living space and offers a beautiful sun room with parquet floors, ceiling fans, wall map of lake and all windows have screens. There is a kids table with some toys and games as well as a table for adults t play cards or eat. It's great for getting away from everyone with a book or just to watch the kids and the lake. The house has 3 bedrooms (2 with kings, 1 queen and all with cable TVs (2 bedrooms with MEMORYFOAM mattresses). All 3 bedrooms have private baths. It is very private and quiet. Well landscaped and many mature hardwoods surround home. Travel on all paved roads to the property and drive is concrete with loads of parking. The Master bedroom has huge bath w/granite and steam shower whorlpool tub and has a 52" HDTV. The Family room (with Sofa Sleeper & 32" HDTV with Dishnet TV) and living room have 2 sleeper sofas and 36" HDTV. New utility room with washer, dryer and large laundry sink. We have wireless roadrunner turbo internet and Dishnet HD with DVR.
Our home is located next to the state public boat launch area and is on the main part of the lake, however, we have our own private ramp along with our private shelter/cook house with plenty of picnic tables. Our dock will accommodate up to a 24 ft. boat and is in sheltered water cove with an awesome big lake view. All pontoons or large boats over 20 ft. should use the state dock to launch. Whatever the dock can't accommodate the state launching are next door can.

Nightly Rates
In season* $350/night with 3 night minumins unless property is only available for 2 nights. Additional nights @$275

* In season we perfer to rent at the full week rate. We will consider a min of 3 nights and can place you on a waiting list with a $250 refundable deposit it the date is not available.
Standard cleaning fee is $150 for one week. Long term cleaning fee is $250. South Carolina requires that I collect a 7% accupantcy tax above the rental fees. Weekly stays include $150 cleaning fee. Add $150 for less than full week stays.

Weeks are from Sunday to Sunday in season. Rates are based on 8 people maximun on property. If there are additional people in party they need to be included in the contract. There will be an additional fee of $25 per person per night over 8 with a maximum of 12 people.
Monthly off season (Jan thru Mar) Our house keeper is available for weekly, bi-weekly or monthly cleanings and laundry service. If desired her fees are $150 per cleaning. If you use her at least bi-weekly and to clean after you depart, the final cleaning fee of $250 will be reduced to $150.

- Jetski, fishing boat and pontoon rental see www.wetandwildrentals.com or call Wet & Wild Rentals at 803-665-6736. This is the only boat rental company on the lake that I know that will rent them on a weekly basis. We also are members to a private club on the lake www.spinnersresort.com If you want to visit there during your stay we will make arrangements for you. This is the nicest facility on the lake and has great food and bands on the weekends, inside dining and bar, boat parking, volleyball, beach and a great outside bar.
- Suitability
- No Pets Allowed : Unless arrange ahead of time. Only small dog that is housebroken inside the home.
- Wheelchair Accessible (may have limitations) : All doors are 36". All but eh large master bedroom is on one level and there are only 4 steps up to it. The walk to the lake is gentle and wide.
- Kid Friendly : Great place for kids. We are putting in a 12' x 20'sand area at lake side next to the patio and screened house for the kids to play. A large play area including playhouse and swings.

- If you plan to fish be sure to buy a fishing license. Cost will run around $10 each and can be purchased from most bait and tackle stores. Fines for getting caught fishing even off the dock run $155.00 per fisherman/pole.

Why the Owner Chose Lexington
Although we love Charleston and the ocean we missed our roots of owning a lake property. We took 2 years and visited all the lakes within 150 miles of Charleston. We chose Lake Murray for these reasons. It's central location (within 2 hours ) between Asheville and the mountains, Charlotte for pro sports including; Nascar,Carolina Panthers NFL and The Charlotte Bobcats NBA teams and Carolwinds a great amusement park, Myrtle Beach the typical tourist haunt and now has just opened the new FreeStyle Music Park and Charleston with all the history, beaches and our business interests and for you golfers we are only 1 hour from Augusta, home of the Masters,. Lake Murray is located on the west side of Columbia, the capital of South Carolina and is home to The University of South Carolina, 2010 College World Series Champions.
Lake Murray is a large lake over 50,000 acres and 500 miles of shoreline and at the widest point is 13 miles wide. Being so wide and so deep in almost eliminated the washboard effect we experienced on the Lake of the Ozarks that made the lake so rough that in a small boat you got beat up on the weekends. The lake is full of islands that are fun to explore, enjoy a picnic or camp on. It is deep and the water quality is one of the best in the US. After living on the lake of the Ozarks where we enjoyed having entertainment and great eating that you can boat up too we found Lake Murray is the only lake in South Carolina that offers these.
This home was purchased to be our retirement home. We are hoping that will be sooner than later.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our property as far as lake lots go is huge, over an acre and a half with 250 ft of gentle sloping waterfront. 1/3 arce lake lots with 100ft of waterfront sell on our island for over $300K plus home.
Our home has that lake house atmosphere on one level and has a gentle walk down to the lake. We are getting older and we didn't want a big slope to climb everytime we go to the dock. We have a deep water dock in a protected cove that has idle speed only and a great 6 mile view of the main lake. The water quality is excellent and you can see 5 feet to bottom. Great property for swimming and fishing. We have our own boat launch. The landscaping, trees, and views are gorgeous.In 2010 we added a Brand new huge Master bedroom 24' x 24' with walk in closet, 52" HDTV, ceiling fan and 9x3 ft with 6" cushions, window seat. . There are 4 full baths in the house. New large utility room. Extensive remodeling throughout house including 2 new heating and cooling systems. We have added ducts to cool and heat the sunroom. New tile floors in all baths and kitchen. New top of the line Sony 52" HD LCD TV with surround sound in Living room. We also added a sundeck off the sunroom with entrys from one of the bedroom suites and sunroom. We have a lighted fountain on the deck to help relax our guests.
We have just finished our summer kitchen and 12' x 20' screened porch with a 12' x 24' patio at the lake side. The property is gorgeous and we have our own boat ramp which will accommodates up to a 22 ft boat and the State launch is next door which will accommodate larger boats.

I grew up in the little farm community of Rushville Indiana, home of Tony Stewart, NASCAR Driver and Wendell Wilkie, 1940 Republician Presidentual candidate.
I graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in 1974 with a BS majoring in marketing and management where I played football, rode in Little 500 and was a member of the ATO Fraternity.
In 2001 I retired from American Home Products a fortune 100 company where I worked for 22 years in sales, sales management and marketing. During this time we lived throughout the US and always owned homes on lakes. Our favorite was Lake of the Ozarks where we owned 2 homes. Now it is definately Lake Murray! It is one of the cleanest/deepest lakes in the US and has less boat traffic than most comparable lakes. It also has many islands that are available to explore including Bombers islan which is a summer nesting habitat for millions of Purple Martins.
In 2001 my wife Karen and I relocated to Charleston SC and purchased 2 FastSigns franchises. We were fortunate that following college graduation our 2 daughters followed us. Our picture needs to be updates as we now have 2 Grandsons and 3 Granddaughters.

Great house and location for our family. We traveled to Lake Murray for our son's wedding. The house was perfect for all of our needs....very spacious, great play area for the kids, and dock and beach area very relaxing. My mother-in-law sat in the swing most mornings watching everything going on while sipping her morning coffee. Chris and Karen greeted us and showed us around....very gracious hosts. I would definitely stay here again if the occasion arises, and would highly recommend to any large family wanting a great getaway week.

This was our second year staying at the Miller House - it was fabulous. The listing description is accurate and the improvements from last year were very professionally completed. The property is very clean and well-maintained. Chris, the owner, is very helpful in answering any and all questions and we would highly recommend this Vacation Rental By Owner Lake House to family, friends and relatives.

We rented this property in 2009 for a week and loved it! We too are planning on relocating and purchasing a place on Lake Murray and our stay her re-affirmed our plan. The house was clean and spacious - almost everything we needed was right there. Looks like many additions have been made since our stay - we are planning to rent again in the 2011 season and this will be our first choice! This house is spacious, accomodating and very welcoming and relaxing!
