Welcome to Heavenly Haven
A family friend introduced us to Craig Creek in the spring of 2007. We were instantly enamored by the clean water and beautiful mountain views. The creek is perfect for tubing, canoing, and fishing. The surrounding Jefferson National forest offers some of the best hiking and hunting in the area.
A week’s vacation at Craig Creek in the summer of 2007 cemented our love for the area and we began to look for a place to call our own. As we began our search we learned that property on the creek is rarely sold, and is often passed from one generation to the next. We had almost abandoned the idea when we happened upon the find of a lifetime……our Heavenly Haven.
In 1997 a local attorney purchased the 1.3 acre creek-front lot near Oriskany, Virginia with the intent to build a fishing and hunting “getaway”. In 2000, he commissioned Mennonite carpenters to construct the unique cedar cabin and adjacent 10' x 20' barn from Southern Living’s “Deer Run” design.
The beautifully detailed interior features tongue-and-groove knotty wood pine. Craftsmanship, attention to detail, and quality materials; all trademarks of the Mennonite builder; are abundant throughout.
The dining area features seating for 6 at a wonderful table hand crafted on the property. 2 large windows provide scenery while you dine. A deer antler chandelier, with dimmer, sets the mood for family meals or romantic dinners.
The master bedroom features an inviting king size oak bed with comfortable memory foam mattress. The bed is adorned with high quality linens, perfectly suited to the country setting. Two large windows provide plenty of natural sunlight and scenic views of the surrounding forestry. The ceiling fan, candles, and overhead dimmer allow you to set temperature and lighting perfectly for your comfort and mood. A full bath, with enclosed shower and tub is conveniently located next to the master bedroom.
The centerpiece of the great room is a breathtaking stone fireplace which extends from the floor to the 20 ft cathedral ceiling. A lush queen size sleeper sofa, antique cedar chest, and oversize chairs make this room an inviting place to enjoy conversation and a book or DVD from our library by the fire. The ceiling fan and overhead lighting allow you to create the perfect atmosphere for relaxation.
The fully equipped kitchen contains everything you’ll need to cook a gourmet meal, or simply heat up a pizza. Electric stove and oven, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, pots and pans, crock-pot, dishes, utensils, and spices are provided. A large window over the kitchen sink provides views of the creek while you cook or socialize.
At the top of the solid pine staircase is the sleeping loft. In the loft you’ll find two comfy double size log beds and a set bunk beds. The bottom bunk has a full size mattress, and can sleep 2. The top bunk has a double mattress and sports views of the creek through the adjacent window. A collection of toys, games, children’s videos, and a VCR are available for your use. 2 large windows provide lots of sunlight and gorgeous views.

This beautifully appointed cabin was the perfect weekend getaway to relax. Just about everything we needed was provided. The photos really do not capture the gorgeous views or the utter coziness of the accommodations. Must see it for yourself.

This was a perfect escape for the cold, quiet days between Christmas and New Years. We enjoyed many warm fires, took several gorgeous hikes through surrounding parks, and cooked comfort food. The house is one of the most well-equipped vacation rentals we've ever seen. The owners were very responsive and provided excellent information. For a quiet stay in the VA mountains, we highly recommend.

Our family found Heavenly Haven to live up it its name in every possible way. The house is just right - it is beautifully built, tastefully decorated, well-equipped and maintained, and thoughtfully detailed to ensure every guest need is met. But the show stopper is the environement. The creek and surrounding views are breathtaking. Our week was the perfect way to reconnect and recharge. In fact, we never even used the TV. The canoe, tubes, fire pit, and nearby hiking trailes provided more than enough entertainment (don't miss the fun little swinging footbridge about a mile down the road to the right). We're already looking at the calendar to see when we can return - can't wait! Mike and Deanna, you helped us have the best vacation we've experienced in quite some time - thanks a million!

Heavenly Haven was a lovely weekend getaway for my group of 6 friends! The house has everything you could need and is cozy and pleasant. The property is private and beautiful, and one of our friends enjoyed fishing in the creek. I would definitely stay here again, and I recommend it to others.

Great place to stay and unwind. Clean and all the comforts of home. The kitchen has everything you need. We love the area, the quietness and canoeing and fishing in the creek. We love being able to grill and sit around the campfire.

My husband, daughter and son rented Heavenly Haven for 3 nights/4 days this past weekend and had a blast. It is truly a little piece of heaven when you drive down that little driveway. The cabin is immaculate and the attention to detail is amazing. Everything you could possibly need. We could have stayed for a month. The river that runs in front of the house kept us busy for hours and hours. Mike and Deanna have the cutest canoe that we were fortunate to use. We all had a turn to go float. Jason is a fly fisherman so spent hours gliding along with his line in the water. We had campfires everynight-there was plenty of wood and kindling everywhere(from fallen trees). The kids had a blast in the little loft-Alex loved sleeping on the top bunk with the perfect view of the river in the mornings. Their were plenty of games and even a horseshoe pit that kept them quite busy. I think my very favorite part of the trip was sitting on the wonderful porch in the rocking chairs reading and watching the river flow by. Anna and I refilled all the hummingbird feeders-and we were paid a visit by a few hummers!. We wish there was a bit more bird seed in the big milk tin so we could fill the other feeders up. The grill was great, a big stainless steel gas grill, perfect for our hamburgers and hot dogs. The kitchen had everything we needed-all sorts of dishes, pans, even some maple syrup for the pancakes(we forgot ours!). Overall the cabin was just wonderful. We can't wait to return. The kids want to visit in the winter(with the hopes of getting snowed in!!! Ha). I have recommended Heavenly Haven to quite a few friends and they can't wait to make reservations. We loved Heavenly Haven. The home was clean, cozy, warm and inviting. All the amenities were provided (dishes, silverware, towels, etc.) which is a nice touch. The house remained cool while outside was warmer and humid. Lots to do and see in the area... of course, there is the river with lots of access points. We ventured to Blueridge Winergy and Virginia Mountain Winery; visitied the Swinging Bridge Restaurant - delicious food; And we enjoyed a couple mile hike on the Roaring Run trail. It was just the two of us this time but we'll definitely be back with friends. The process to rent Heavenly Haven was easy and we received our deposit in a timely manner.

The Heavenly Haven cabin was even cuter in real life than it appears in the pictures. The secluded setting was beautiful, with a small rapid just downstream of the cabin providing a soothing sound of rushing water. We found the cabin fully outfitted and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The place was spotlessly clean and obviously well cared for, and the owners were gracious hosts who answered my emails promptly and helpfully. It was hard to leave when our time was up! I would happily stay here again or recommend Heavenly Haven to my friends and family.

We had a wonderful stay over Christmas. The cabin is beautiful inside and out. Its secluded location is the perfect getaway spot. Nearby New Castle is a friendly town where you can stock up on everything you need at the supermarket, and the Paint Bank General Store/Swinging Bridge Restaurant is well worth the short trek over the mountain ridge. Although the driveway to the cabin is not very long, it is fairly steep. In the snowy winter months, you will most definitely need a four-wheel drive vehicle to easily navigate it. That being said, Heavenly Haven is a fantastic cabin. We hope to get back there again soon! Big thanks to Mike and Deanna for their hospitality.
