Cozy and comfortable three bedroom, two full bath townhouse across from Chairlifts 5 and 6. We are in easy walking distance to all lifts, ice skating rink, tubing, and the lodge.
This townhouse is 7 years old, and has many amenities including its own private garage, four televisions with DVD/video players, a cozy gas fireplace, radiantly heated warm floors, tile countertops, and washer/dryer. The dining table folds out to comfortably seat six, plus there is a bar that seats an additional four people. The unit has beds for six; the upstairs master bedroom has a queen bed and a plasma TV. Bedroom two, downstairs, has two twin beds, and bedroom three, also downstairs, has bunk beds. All bedrooms have televisions and DVD players. The living room has a double-sized futon couch.
You will have access to the Kirkwood Owners' Association Recreation Center which includes a large outdoor pool, spa, and fitness center.
'Lost Cabin' (our group of town homes) has 16 individual units each with their own private garage. Additional parking is also available in the Lost Cabin outdoor parking area. We are situated diagonally across from Chairlifts 5 and 6, and you can access the meadow for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or sledding right out our front door.
Kirkwood has been repeatedly rated as one of the nation's top ten ski resorts. There are a wide variety of slopes to choose from, from beginner runs to experts only. The cross-country and snow shoeing trails are also superior. The ski/board instruction is excellent for kids as well as the adults. Kirkwood is generally less crowded than the other resorts and has a quiet, laid back feel, yet only 40 minutes away you can find all the action and activity of South Lake Tahoe.
During the quieter summer months, the chairlifts are open for hikers and mountain bikers (and their bikes) to ride to the top of the mountain to hike/ride the ridge line and down. Enjoy the trails, views, wildflowers, and quiet. There is also an outdoor pool, two Jacuzzis, a rock climbing wall, and zip lines to enjoy. Hiking, fishing, boating and swimming abound at Caples Lake, Silver Lake and little Kirkwood Lake all within a couple miles of Kirkwood, CA. This is a great place to stay for the annual Death Ride.

This townhouse is the perfect vacation home away from home. Starting with a full, modern kitchen for those times you want to cook in, to beautiful decor, comfortable beds, full baths, and a cozy living room that is great for a night of games and laughter, we LOVE this place. We enjoy strolling around Kirkwood village in the evenings and being able to walk to the lifts and the kids ski school easily. Being able to go back "home" for lunch is such a luxury. No long shuttle lines or driving a mile away. Clean, convenient, and a feeling of home. Can't wait till our next visit!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

As relative "newbies" to the ski scene, we weren't sure what to expect in accommodations. We were more than pleased with this condo! You immediately feel at home, and the way it's decorated really takes advantage of the space. The kitchen is well-stocked and there are plenty of extras to please everyone. And talk about location! How convenient to walk out your front door and be so close to everything, and then be able to ski back to your place, enter the garage, and store wet clothes, boots, skis, etc. before coming inside. We will definitely be back, and have recommended this particular condo to friends and family.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We have used this Condo/Townhouse the last two years with 2 other couples and had great experiences - we are already booked again for this year. The location to the lifts and lodges is easy walking and parking is ample. Back and forth to lunch at the Condo is also a snap. Its interior is wonderfully arranged to accommodate kids and a couple of families - it is compact but accommodates everyone comfortably and absorbs all the gear. The kitchen is well equipped and plenty of room for après ski or non-skiers to hang out. In summary: very functional and nicely appointed. We highly recommend this property for a winter getaway.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

When I decided to take a skiing vacation in the States, I wanted a place that would have a range of skiing difficulty, full amenities and short lift lines. Kirkwood in general, and this townhouse in particular, exceeded my expectations in all areas. Even the fold-out couch was comfortable! I would recommend this unit/resort to anyone who wants a great ski vacation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a fabulous find!!!! Have been renting at Kirkwood for 5 years and have now found the PERFECT place to stay. Easily accommodates 8. We were 4 adults and 4 kids (2 families). Great living space, contemporary feel but totally cozy. All the kids loved the bunk room with their own TV and DVD player. Having the garage for ski gear adds an element of simplicity to a family ski trip. Can't wait to return in February!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A perfect spot at Kirkwood. This condo has an incredible location, an easy walk from the slopes, so it's easy to roll out of bed in the morning late and still get first tracks. Likewise, the meadow is a short walk the other direction for walks and cross-country skiing. The kitchen, living room with a view of the slopes is a great place for the family to congregate, eat and socialize. It's well-appointed with quality furniture and the right decor for a ski house, without being kitschy. The two bedrooms downstairs with their own bathroom are perfect for the kids, including a bunk room. The mud room off the garage is the perfect spot to stash wet boots when you come in. The radiant heating in the floor is a great bonus - no cold feet when you swing them out of bed and no drying blowing furnace air. We'll come back many more times.
