THREE INDEPENDENT APARTMENTS TO RENT SEPARATELY, OR IDEAL TOGETHER FOR LARGE GROUPS, LOCATED IN CHATEAU DE GUERNON-RANVILLE.
An attractive 18th Century manor house, made from the characteristic pale Norman stone imported for the building of many English cathedrals, and not far from Cabourg and Deauville, it was once the home of a minister of Charles X, and a favourite haunt of many famous artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec. Close to Pegasus Bridge, which was captured by allied gliders in the night of the 6th of June 1944, the manor became a temporary hospital during the D-Day landings.
Ranville is a quiet village ideally located for visiting the region. The Norman ferry port of Ouistreham Caen is only about five miles away making for instant access from the UK. The coastal resorts of Cabourg, Deauville and Honfleur are within easy reach, as are the Normandy D-Day landing beaches and Bayeux, with its famous cathedral and tapestries. Inland you can explore the rolling Calvados countryside, or go on the cider trail, sampling local farm produce.
The house is set in four acres of landscaped grounds, with clay tennis court, large heated swimming pool with removable all weather cover, pool house with patio, fitness room with spa, sauna and multi-gym equipment, games room with table tennis and electronic dartboard in one of the outhouses. Bicycles are available for use by guests (one equipped with infant seat).
Two of the apartments are situated in the recently renovated wing of the manor, the third is part of the main house. Each benefits from a secluded setting to ensure privacy. The resident owners live in the main house.
Each apartment has been completely restored to the highest standard, and retains much of the original character, including beamed ceilings, quarry tiled floors, and natural stone walls. Bed linen and towels are all supplied. Cots, high chairs and stair gates for children are available if required. Detailed local information is supplied (shops, restaurants, children's activities, etc.) to help you get the most from your stay.
All of the apartments have inclusive broadband access with ethernet connection. A PC with internet access is also available in the main house for those who don't bring a laptop.
"GRAND LARGE", (95m2): The entrance leads to the fully equipped kitchen (cooking hob, dishwasher, fridge, microwave), lavatory housing the washer/dryer, and the ground floor bedroom with integrated bathroom featuring a large corner bath. The large bed is motorised with remote control, and if necessary can be divided into two singles. The kitchen is connected to the living/dining room featuring luxury amenities, with satellite television, DVD and hi-fi, a working original fireplace, and a large sofa-bed. A spiral staircase leads to the first floor double bedroom (again with motorised dividable bed) and large ensuite bathroom with bath and view of the grounds. The apartment enjoys a huge independent patio area complete with garden furniture, marquee and barbecue. The layout of this apartment makes it the most suitable for disabled guests and small children.
"LE SUD" (110m2): The entrance has a lavatory, and leads directly to the living/dining room, featuring luxury amenities, with satellite television, DVD and hi-fi. The fully equipped kitchen (American style fridge, microwave, cooking hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer) opens on to the living room. A glass paneled door leads outside to the private patio, with garden furniture and barbecue. The first floor comprises a long corridor leading to two large double bedrooms, again both with motorised dividable double beds, and one housing an additional single bed, and bathroom with bath, large shower, twin wash basins and toilet.
"LA CONFIDENTE" (50m2): Part of the main house but with a few steps leading to its own separate entrance, consists of a fully equipped kitchen (see above). ), dining area, bathroom with shower, double bedroom and living room with a convertible double sofa-bed, TV, DVD and hi-fi. A first floor bedroom with ensuite bathroom and separate toilets, which is part of the owners' accomodation, can be made available if necessary. There is no washer/dryer, but the owners are happy to allow use of their own facilities. Table, chairs and barbecue are ready for use outside in a private enclosed area. |
