- Endangered sea turtles nest on Troncones Beach, sometimes right in front of the hotel! They come ashore at night, dig nests, lay their eggs, and then go back to the ocean, never to see their babies. After about six weeks, the eggs hatch, and the little ones make their way to the sea. Very few babies survive the dangers of the ocean to maturity. Survivors will return after many years (15-20) to lay their own eggs and begin the process again. Seeing any part of the turtle's life cycle is thrilling.

I just returned from my third trip to Hotel Los Suenos and enjoyed every aspect of my stay, including the canine mascot of the place, Duke. I have known Duke since he was a puppy Labrador, and he is very well trained: friendly, unobtrsive, polite, does not jump up on people, does not bark excessively, does not "do his business" on the hotel grounds, and obeys the commands of hotel mistress "La Duena" (most of the time). Duke is, however, a DOG: which means that if you leave food out on your cooking surface or counter and your door open, Duke will eat the food; that is pretty much what dogs do. It is up to us humans to be smarter than Duke (which, in Duke's case, is not very hard) and which, in the matter of the "Pilfered Chicken Caper" means shut your door as I am certain that Duke is not capable of breaking and entering a closed hotel room. The highlight of this trip was the home cooked meal (arranged by the hotel that 6 of us ate on our last night) of wood grilled fresh snapper, chicken mole, local vegetables, refried beans, and rice accompanied by liberal quantities of Margeritas Los Suenos......and Duke got none of our food even though some of us were pretty stupid by the end of the evening.

Most of the folks we met there in the two weeks we stayed in the 'Surfer Room' were back every year, and as such, everyone seemed to know everyone else from years before. Lots of rooms but the limited outdoor space and small pool made it almost required to get to know your neighbor- a good thing actually. We left before our scheduled departure date because while we were out sunset-watching the hotel's dog broke into our room, jumped up on the stove and ate our chicken dinner from the back burner. We learned from other guests that this dog has a habit of entering rooms. When we asked for a refund for unused nights and that we wanted to shorten our time there, the management cheerfully refunded our money. Overall- very friendly with a few rustic edges. Recommended but watch that nasty dog around your room. One big perk- they have free calling to the USA (and serve great morning coffee)
Owner response: Hi Jim, We are sorry about your less than great experience with us at los Suenos. We are working on Duke's obedience schooling as we speak. No guest should have to worry about a dog coming into a room and hopefully it will never happen again. We try to make everyone's stay with us a good one, but missed it this time. Warren Hi Warren Well you didn't miss by much as we both loved the place otherwise. Thanks for the note. Jim

We loved this hotel. It is small and friendly, with a great little staff, and a fun dog. No one was in our faces, but we felt very welcome. All we did was read, walk on the beach (almost empty...) play in the pool, and eat and drink! We've never had such a relaxing vacation! troncones is a great place, and Los Suenos was perfect for us in every way. We'll be back!

I found Los Suenos on line, and I am so glad! My boyfriend and I wanted to find somewhere low key and relaxing, and this place fit the bill. The hotel and town are small, the beach is uncrowded, and it was just so easy! The rooms are big, and have a/c and ceiling fans, although we didn't use the a/c. Ours had a king size bed and a fairly comfortable sofa, but we spent most of our time outside in the hammock or by the pool. There is nothing between the hotel and the beach except sand, and there were only a few beach vendors, so we were never bothered. There were restaurants close by for luch and dinner, and we usually just had breakfast at the hotel (yougurt and coffee) in the morning. We want to go back with friends later this year, we had that much fun

This is THE place to stay if you want sun and relaxation. The atmosphere at Los Suenos is what you want when you think of sun and surf. The hostess Chris, is there if you need her, but at the same time gives you all the space you need to do what you want. I was very sad to leave. She made us feel very welcome and at home

My wife and I visited Playa Troncones for a number of years. We were "spoiled" as we stayed with a friend at her wonderful home on the beach...she sold it last year and we love this beach! It's pretty remote...Troncones is a small village north of Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo. For years...my wife and I have walked this beach and in 2006 we noticed a property that was closed and for sale...A small 2-story inn with a 3-story owner/manager building...we dreamed of owning it. We waited too long to make a decision and a family from the state of Washington purchased it. Without our friend's home available to us...we searched online for a small Inn that we could stay at for a few weeks...on the beach. We found that Villa Los Suenos had a website and it was open for business. We arranged our stay and cannot say enough about the property...or it's owners...specifically Christine...the managing partner in the family that stays and operates Villa Los Suenos most of the year. The inn has been renovated and updated...the suites are very clean and the furnishings super comfortable. The pool is inviting and has a gorgeous view of the ocean as do the suites. It is a quiet property that sits directly on the beach and offers it guests the luxury of staying on the beach with all the comforts of home including air-conditioning for those hot summer days...although the ceiling fan may be just enough for you. The value for your dollar is probably the best one can receive staying at the beach and in a fine property. The village is just a few blocks down the road with it's restaurants, stores and shops. We highly recommend Villa Los Suenos to anyone looking for a quiet and romantic stay at a beach that many folks either don't know about...or only dream about. The inn-keepers will bend over backwards to make your stay...THE BEST! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Los Suenos is located in the perfect environment to shed your fast-paced lifestyle and immerse yourself in the authentic culture of Mexico. I found myself enjoying solo strolls down the beach each morning with a cup of fresh brewed coffee saying goodmorning to the locals as they slowly walked to work; watching women make fresh tortillas and being invited to try my hand at it; exploring the back dirt roads of the little town of Troncones and enjoying terrific ethnic foods served at roadside stands ... then there's sunsets on the beach with a good book and a margarita in hand - La Vida! Don't miss the oceanside massages, pass up the chance to explore the little community (the people are really friendly), nor the opportunity to access great shopping experiences in nearby cities. I'd higly recommend driving up the coastline to sample the seafood-based cusine along the way too. As a single woman, I felt really safe in this area of Mexico. Bring a lot of sunscreen - you'll want to be outside all day long in this beautiful location. The flora and fauna of the region are very interesting, and I found myself spending a great deal of time exploring tide pools for brightly colored fish, tracking down turtle eggs and enjoying the unique flowers that were seemingly everywhere on the side streets.

I stayed at Los Suenos in Troncones for 10 days and had the most relaxing enjoyable time I could have imagined. The accomodations are simply elegant. Everything I needed without the glitz of high priced resorts. The town of Troncones was charming with authenic and varied Mexican cuisine. The beach was pristine and vast. I walked, read, met interesting guests at the hotel. The Innkeeper was friendly and accomodating. The price was unbelievable. I'm going back!!
