October in Bearadise

Our family has visited Bearadise for the past three years in mid October during the Apple Festival- I like to think of this trip as our "kick off" to the holiday season! The drive up Walnut Mountain is quite easy to navigate, even with a van full of adults, kids and one large Lab! The cabin is warm and inviting, providing all the comforts of home. After the nightly pool tournaments downstairs, and a soak in the hot tub, we all relaxed by the crackling fireplace on the crisp cold evenings-- which was a refreshing change from the hot summer in Florida. While the ladies shopped and lunched in the quaint and charming downtown Ellijay, my husband and grandchildren especially enjoyed fishing off the dock-- grandson outfished his grandpa this year! Several mornings we spotted a beautiful doe walking along the water's edge, soon followed by two bucks clearly vying for her affection! Two bucks sparring- a rare opportunity to witness this- and the sound of the antlers fiercely crashing into each other echoed in the calm morning air. Amazing. Bearadise provides a beautiful and serene location for relaxation and for spending quality time with family. The wildlife is a special treat- and did I mention the flock of geese landing on the pond and the chipmunks frollicking in the trees-- the kids were so excited! We'll be back.

THE AMAZING CABIN

The cabin, as we now call it, has become the place for us to go to enjoy time away from the daily routine. As soon as you start driving up the mountain towards the cabin, you feel like you're in a different world, but once you open the door, you feel at home. Everything you need is there, and more. Just bring food, and firewood, if winter, to enjoy the fireplace. It's clean and organized. It won't take you long to find your way around. This is the place to enjoy peace and quite, even with several people there at the same time. The cabin has 3 floors, so everybody can spread out and do their own thing. Eventhough you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, Walmart, imagine that, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. are just down the road. There are so many options of what to do every day... Plan ahead! In the past four years, we have seen falls, went gold mining, and the last trip went horse back riding (the best yet!!). We work in a corporate envionment, and this is the best "getaway" we have. We can blame "no cell phone reception" on the mountain, but we are in touch if we need to be. It is our secret! We really appreciate making this our home away from home. So the question we ask each year is NOT where we should go, but when we should go. Winter, Summer, or Fall? :) Thanks for sharing YOUR home with us. When are you available for year five?

I heard about this cabin from people who had been there before. My husband was a little skeptical and really was not wanting to go. The first word out of his mouth when we walked in was WOW!! This "cabin" is absolutely beautiful. I can honestly say there is not one thing about it I would change or want more from this cabin. The house and view were amazing! There were movies to watch, board games to play, pool table, hot tub, and a dock to fish from. All your wants in needs for the kitchen are already there, so clothes and food are all that is needed. We will definitely be back every year!

We have rented this cabin for a week 3 summers in a row now and have plans of coming back every year. The accommodations are amazing, the house is perfect and the views are breathtaking. You can't help but relax! You are just a short beautiful drive to many fun activities like Amicolola Falls, gold mining in Dahlonaga, and tubing several rivers! I highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking to have a relaxing and beautiful vacation!

We took our daughter, her husband and two children here for the week in April. The weather was beautiful and all the trees and flowers were starting to bloom - it is a gorgeous area. The house has three levels; main floor is the living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom and full bathroom with a large porch/deck just off the dining room. A large portion of the porch is screened in with a picnic table (large one for the adults and a little one for the kids) and the surrounding deck has rocking chairs - this overlooks the lake, had morning coffee on this deck every day and cocktails every evening - it was great! Upstairs has two big bedrooms and a full bathroom and the basement has been converted into a large game/TV/sitting room, bedroom and bathroom with the hot tub just outside on a very nice porch overlooking the lake. The house is stocked with AMPLE kitchen supplies and there were plenty of linens, blankets, etc. throughout the place. House was stocked with books, games, DVD's and all sorts of stuff. The only downside we saw was that even though this house is geared for children (baby gate on stairs, stroller in the closet, playset outside, etc.) the surrounding area outside the house is not geared for children under 5 yrs. Steep hillsides are on all sides of the house, we had an 18 month old that we had to stay right beside her every second that she was outside and that can wear you out in minutes. The 7 yr old loved it and we really enjoyed sitting out on the floating dock watching the fish and other wildlife. Summertime would be wonderful for floating around on a raft - water was a little cool when we were there. We went for the short hike and found the waterfall pictured here - this is just a great place for relaxing and enjoying each other. The manager Bob was extremely friendly and helpful - the second day we thought we had a problem with the A/C and he came right over - turns out some switch hadn't been flipped. We certainly would recommend this place if comfort and relaxation is what your looking for.
