Tranquility Near the Gulf

The home was very clean, well maintained and perfectly suited to us with all the comforts of home including spacious rooms and modern appliances. It’s located in a very peaceful setting away from all the noise and congestion of a big city and yet it’s just a short drive to town for shopping or dining. Rose and Captain Ron were very welcoming and helpful during our stay; they offered suggestions about area events and activities as well as checking to see if there was anything we needed. We enjoyed a tour to the river via the airboat piloted by Captain Ron. There were also many fish to catch, bicycles rides taken, walks on the birding trail nearby and kayaking trips along Mason Creek. The Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park nearby was filled with many of Florida's native animals and well worth visiting. The month of January flew by. We'd like to stay again sometime and feel comfortable recommending it to our friends.

Tons of fun

We scalloped with the kids over July 4th weekend and were thrilled to find this house. Boat ramp is 100 yds away, plenty of parking for cars & trailer, easy access to the Gulf (avoid the zoo of boat traffic down the river and the ramp follies at McRae's). But the best part was the hospitality of Ron & Rose - they are very welcoming and eager to help in any way. It's a short walk to their dock and it's a beautiful setting. An older house but very nicely appointed and well maintained. We have stayed a number of times at Riverside Resort and I much prefer this quieter setting with less hassle and less people and better acccess to the Gulf.

Rose and Captain Ron were wonderful to us. My husband and I came with our daughter, son-in-law and grandson for a long weekend. The house was in excellent condition, very clean, well stocked and large open rooms. Captain Ron took us out in his pontoon and gave us the grand tour of Homosassa. Rose made us feel at home. Their home is across the street so if anything is needed they are there to take care of you. We can't wait to come back there is still so much we want to see. If you go to visit make sure Captain Ron takes you to meet the Shrimp Lady! We had such a great time!

The creekside house was great! Had a awesome time scalloping, and relaxing when we did that is, the scallops were just so many and fun we had a blast. Ron and Rose are very great, Ron showed us how to get in and out of river to go scalloping and to the springs, Rose showed us how to clean the scallops, her nick name is scallop cleaning queen. He put us right in the honey hole of scallops. The sun sets on the dock are very great. I will say it is a great get away.

5 Stars!

I've read the other comments for this vacation home and they all say the same things our family experienced here at Creek Side. The house was clean, comfortable and sooo relaxing. The house sits in the middle of a huge piece of property with all kinds of native trees and foliage. It is pretty secluded the way it sits, nestled in the middle of the lot. We felt like we had the whole block to ourselves! Our kids rode around on the bikes when we weren't out on the water. Ron and Rose are quite a team. They are so interesting and eccentric. They were so hospitible. They made us feel like we were family. Ron showed us to the scallop beds, Rose showed us how to catch and clean. We enjoyed hearing about their amazing life while we sat and cleaned the scallops. They were so sweet to our kids and our dog. The kids had a blast. They were completely wore-out when we came home! We can't wait to get back and do it again. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. My favorite part of our stay was when my husband and I snuck out for a walk on the dock around midnight. The sky was amazing! I've lived in Florida my whole life and never have I seen so many stars! There happened to be a meteor shower that night. I was truly blown away. Thank you Ron and Rose! We felt like we left with more than we had when we came. We left with some new, great friends and some great family vacation memories!

My family said our vacation in Homosassa was a perfect 10! The Creekside house was great--accurately described in the listing and photos but even better in person in its' serene setting. It was equipped with everything you could possibly want, attractive with very nice artwork and furnishings, and extremely comfortable. It was clean and well-maintained. What made it exceptional was the owners, Cap'n Ron and Rose. They truly care about their guests and do everything possible to accomodate them. They're both very friendly and were truly a bonus to our trip. They were quite helpful in recommending activities and spots in the area. We really enjoyed our trips with Cap'n Ron on both the airboat and pontoon boat. He's not only a good boat captain, but has lots of interesting stories and a wealth of information about the area. One day was spent scalloping and another swimming and snorkeling off the pontoon boat at Homosassa Springs. We'd never been scalloping, so the patient help from Cap'n Ron in catching them, and from Rose in cleaning them, was much appreciated. We also greatly enjoyed our visits to the Wildlife Park and Rainbow Springs. Our 3 children had great fun riding the bikes that were there for them, riding in the airboat, and everything else they did. Myself and my family would highly recommend this home. Thank you Ron and Rose ever so much!!!

You cannot find a better place to stay than the Creekside house. It is extremely clean, spacious, and just steps from Masons Creek and the private boat dock. Ron and Rose are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They are very hospitable and work hard to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. Capt. Ron showed us how to navigate the creek out to the Gulf for scalloping as well as how to access the main river for a trip up to the Springs for swimming. He also showed us some great spots for scalloping and we easily got our limit every day. They provided bikes, canoes, and even took our son for an airboat ride. Rose was very helpful with information on buying property in the area for retirement. She is also an excellent scallop cleaning instructor.. We will be back next year!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Creekside House. Ron and Rose were gracious hosts and very helpful for our first time scalloping trip. Capt Ron showed us how to navigate the Mason Creek to the Gulf and the Homosassa River by taking our son on his airboat while we followed in our boat. The house was lovely, artfully decorated and well equipped. This was a perfect location, pristine, quiet, beautiful. Thanks Rose and Ron for a delightful weekend. We hope to visit again in the future.

Ron and Rose were wonderful hosts and they were more than helpful in a non intrusive manner. Capt. Ron was gracious in showing us a great route to gain access to the gulf. He was knowledgeable about all manner of local fishing and boating wisdom. The house was very comfortable and spacious, The boat slip was right across the street and was very easy to access, There are no real negatives that we experienced.

We rented the house for four days in August 09 and it was wonderful. The house was great and had very nice wildlife art displayed throughout. Ron and Rose (the owners) were just wonderful generous people and so helpful and friendly. We had a boat which was kept across the street and had no problems at all. Ron even took us out so that we could get a GPS track out to the Gulf and to Homosassa River so that we would know our way around with our boat. This house and setting is great if you want to get away and relax in an old Florida serene setting. If you like nature, fishing, and scalloping (when in season) then this is the place. We also brought kayaks and there are some great opportunities for this activity. Bicycles were also supplied and two extra kayaks for another couple with us were also available. Highly recommended. Thanks Ron and Rose for your hospitality.

As a native Floridian I hesitate to let the 'cat out of the bag' out of pure selfishness, because this is what Florida was, and should, be. Capn' Ron and Rose are situated in a part of Old Homosassa that is pure southern charm and unspoiled wilderness. I've had the pleasure of travelling to several of the world's dream destinations but I must confess, this place, as long as Capn Ron and Rose are the trusted custodians, has risen to the top of my list as a return destination. From scalloping, to diving at the Springs, to airboating through the high grass, to sitting on the dock at sunset and listening to some of Capn' Ron's accounts of days gone by as I sipped a nice cold ale, there's nothing better. And I didn't even mentionm the luxurious accommodations of the house. Soooo nice. Many thanks Capn' Ron and Rose. I'll see you again... soon.

First of all, there are no better tour guides than Rose & Ron. They are incredibly accomodating and generous people. Creekside is a beautiful, well maintained home where you want for nothing and if you do...Ron & Rose see to it! Great place for couples or a family (like us). We had the best time and HIGHLY reccomend the airboat ride, it was fun & informative. We are native Floridians and saw a part of Florida that was truly undiscovered to us...thanks to Capt. Ron & Rose!!! Look no further if you are interested in exploring Old Florida with people who know it well! Rest & relaxation, as well as all of the excitement you desire awaits you under the guidance of Captain Ron & Rose. A definite return trip is in our future! Thanks for sharing your home, knowledge and friendship with us.

We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Rose and Ron were incredibly accomodating from providing printed materials on things to do in the area to charging their battery operated vehicles for the children to drive. After an amazing vacation of scalloping, fishing, boating, and great dining with family, the children voted their favorite experience as going out with "Captain Ron" on his airboat. Ron & Rose, Thank you for a fabulous vacation! We will definitely be repeat customers.

It was a wonderful time staying in this spacious home. Kayaking in Mason Creek and the surrounding waters was great fun. We loved going to the Wildlife Park which was close to the house and eating Cuban sandwiches at the Museum Cafe. Biking in the neighborhood as well as the bike trails which were not far away made for a nice afternoon. Ron and Rose are the friendliest people. It was nice that they lived nearby in case we needed anything. We really enjoyed talking with them about the area. This is a great rental for many reasons. We especially liked this location in the Nature Coast area of Florida. Thanks Ron and Rose for having us.

We loved our stay at Creekside. The house is elegant and spacious, yet comfortable and inviting. Our children learned to ride bikes in the quiet neighborhood and had a great time playing in the huge yard. Having coffee on the deck listening to the birds in the morning was heaven. We visited the Wildlife park and went to several different waterfront parks in the area. I would recommend this rental to anyone whom would like to visit the real Florida. ~Thanks Ron and Rose!

The house is lovely, very clean, and the location is great: quiet and secluded but just minutes from Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park and historical riverfront, where you can hire a boat to see manatees or a sunset trip to the Gulf. The hosts, Ron and Rose, are very friendly. Ron met us at HW19 and we followed him to the house. We borrowed Ron's canoe and spent one morning paddling through the beautiful wetland adjacent to Mason Creek. Rose advised us Fort Island Beach on the Gulf: beautiful sand beach with the boardwalk to fishing pier. Rose and Ron, thank you for everything!
