Relax and enjoy any of the 4 decks (2 on the front and 2 on the back). Both the front and back side of the property have wonderful waterviews, front covered decks facing the Atlantic Ocean and the back decks facing the IntraCoastal Waterway. Inside you'll find a spacious living area (approximately 1400 sq. ft of living space) with updated and tasteful decorations throughout.
Our property is very private, yet you're VERY close to the beach, approximately 200 yards to direct and private beach access. There are no houses behind. We have a beautifully landscaped backyard (palm trees, large cactus), an outdoor H/C shower (yes, there are indoor showers too...), picnic table, hammock, lots of deck furniture and plenty of parking underneath the house.
Holden Beach is still a well-kept secret, perhaps not for long though. National Geographic Smart Traveler magazine recently ranked Holden Beach among it's top 10 "Best Family Beaches" category. Additionally, AAA Beach Vacation Travel Journal recently ranked H.B. one of their "Top 30 Beaches" overall. H.B. offers a great alternative to the crowds and commercialism of nearby N. Myrtle Beach, which is only approximately 30 miles away.

Why the Owner Chose Holden Beach
Pristine wide white sand beach that is uncrowded. No high rises, only cottages on the island (due to 30 ft. height restrictions). Low-key, relaxed family atmosphere that is still relatively undiscovered. Island runs East to West which is somewhat unique for the East Coast...makes for some interesting Atlantic sunsets (over the water in the Winter)
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
We have privacy with nobody behind us yet are only about a 1 or 2 minute walk from the beach. We think it is much better than 2nd row because of not being surrounded by houses and not sitting on a busy main thoroughfare. From the front we have a ocean view and from the back we have a clear view of the boats on the Intracoastal waterway. Brunswick Ave is ideal for biking, blading or running because it is quiet and safe, yet just a block from the beach and parallel to the beach road (Ocean Blvd). Our landscaping in the backyard includes 3 large palm trees and a huge prickly pear cactus, giving a nice tropical feel. We have multiple decks on both sides and a great patio area down below ideal for grilling with a nice breeze at street level (hang the hammock down there for a great nap setting!). There is a wonderful outdoor hot/cold shower that is very enticing after a day at the beach.

Rob & Cheri Hall. We live in Chapel Hill, NC. We've been married 13 years and have 2 beautiful kids. Olivia is 9 and Justin is 7 as of Summer '12. Hence "JustLiv"...
We bought the property in 2002 and each year try to improve the property. This year will be major, as we've put a new roof on already, in addition to new carpet. If time permits (and budget!) we hope to update the 2 main bathrooms upstairs this off season.

I was impressed with the house. The living area is very comfortable. Comfy couches, comfy carpeting, comfy air conditioning. I only slept in one of the beds and it was comfortable as well. I expect that the bunk/twins are not as comfy as the queen/king rooms, but that is to be expected. The kitchen is very well stocked with good cookware, plates, etc. It was a lot like being at home. The house is situated on a very quiet road. The only negative thing I have to say about the house itself is that the decking has a lot of rusty chicken wire wrapped around it -- it is below waist level so grownups don't really see it, but I would not want my kids poking around with their hands as there are bound to be sharp pieces of wire that could poke through the skin. The beach is very nice and the water was incredibly warm. It is a very easy walk to the beach from the house, but you have to cross a fairly busy road to get to the beach. People do stop, but not necessarily right away, so you can't just have your kids run from the beach to the house or the house to the beach, unless they are responsible enough to be trusted to cross a busy street (i.e., can be trusted to wait until cars in both directions have stopped, or until there is plenty of time to cross). I'd definitely stay at this house again. The outdoor shower has hot and cold water and is wonderful for keeping the sand out of the house. The Wi game console was a very nice touch and appreciated by the kids who stayed with us. Everybody really enjoyed themselves and everybody loved the house.

We had a really pleasant time at this condo. It easily accommodated our family of 8 and an infant. We were so close to the beach and the price was very affordable. We would definitely return.

We were a group of 8. 4 adults 4 children. The children range in age from 4 to 14. One really great advantage we discovered was the bedrooms are all upstairs. I am a early riser and most in our group were not. I was able to get up and make myself breakfast or watch tv and not disturb the others sleeping in.It was great that everybody was able to sleep in if they wanted and not be woke up by others.Two of us enjoy cooking and commented all week how well the kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need. My nephew enjoyed fishing and caught a stingray while fishing in the ocean. (Returned unharmed to the ocean) Then was able to catch enough fish for dinner out of the waterway. We went and saw the turtles hatch and the kids had a blast. Holden beach is a wonderful, beautiful, friendly beach. This was our 3rd trip and we always feel very welcome by the locals. The owners were the best we have ever dealt with and answered all our questions very quickly. Without a doubt we would recommend this rental to others and look forward to returning again ourselves! Thank-you Rob and family for a truly wonderful week.

We had 5 kids and 4 adults and this house fit our needs well. I loved all the decks; if you ever want some alone time the upper decks were nice to sneak away to and read a book. The walk to the beach isn't bad but you might want to bring a beach cart to haul all your gear. Most of the home is as they described The only negative I might would say is the view out back wasn't that great. The trees have grown out near the waters edge so it does block the view somewhat.(beyond owners control I am sure). Most important to us was the home was clean, affordable, and family friendly. thank you for sharing your home with us. BTW the owners are really nice to work with. We would definitely recommend this home to our family and friends.

What a GREAT week we had at your phenomenal house! The weather was perfect, the accommodations are splendid and the location is excellent. This is our 12th visit to Holden and we loved everything about this house. It is quite clear that the owners care about those who rent from them, and have thought of everything one might want to do for fun. HIGHLY recommended!

Thank you so much for a relaxing week in Holden Beach. The house was just a described. My family had never rented a house or condo for a vacation. We did not know what to expect. After a quick run to the store for food, we were soon sitting on the deck sipping some wine. We had a great time on the beach, riding bikes, and kayaking on the intercoastal. We visited some of the other beach communities nearby. If you want a quiet more less crowded beach and community, this rental unit and Holden Beach is the place to go.

The owners were exceptional in customer service. The property was as described. The views were great. There are a lot of stairs so that was a little problem. The home is older and has some new things but needs more updating and a good cleaning. We love Holden Beach and have gone for the past 15 years and always stay in a different home each time. The price was a little high but they have all gone up alot. We liked not having to have a deposit, taxes, and alot of other fees. Holden is just great any where you stay.
Owner response:Our property was built in 1987. For it's age it is in exceptionally good shape. It has no more stairs than any average beach house (it's on stilts...it's a beach house...). It has been updated recently throughout including most infrastructure (appliances, toilets, hot water heater, washer/dryer) and furniture/decor. This year (2010) we added a King bed in the Master and put TV's in each bedroom, as well as added a Wii game system. We improve the property each year within our budget. This guest came in the Spring before we had the chance to personally do our big pre-Summer cleaning, which we've since done of course, then had it professionally steam cleaned as we always do. We pride ourselves on keeping a clean place for our guests (and for us!) and take it very seriously. We have a cleaning service that comes in before and after each guest (it's built into the price on a weekly rental, you aren't charged extra). If it isn't clean please call us and we'll have the maid come back again. The carpet gets steam cleaned on average of 3-4 times per year. It is our second home, not strictly a rental property. We do not market it as new but we are confident you'll find it exceeds your expectations, especially compared with other available rentals of comparable size and age at Holden Beach.

This is a great place to Vacation. Holden Beach is a wonderful family beach, and this house is very well suited for a family vacation. Having a high chair, pack-n-play and baby gates provided made it a very easy experience with small children. The view of the ICCW from the back porches is great. The sunsets were spectacular. The Den area is very comfortable, and it is nice having all new appliances in a Beach House kitchen. The walk to the beach access is very acceptable. When you take into the account the additional money that you would have to pay to be right on the beach, I feel that it is well worth the savings to be a little off the beach and take the easy little walk to the beach. We hope to be able to return to the house for vacation again in the future! There are good restaurants in the area. We recommend Betty's Waterfront restaurant for the best seafood (and value for your money) in Holden Beach. Also, Jerome's Steak and Seafood Restaurant in Shallotte is very good.

Our family of four and my parents stayed at this location July 2006. It is a VERY short walk to the beach. The views from the back porches were lovely. The outdoor shower was perfect for cleaning the sand off of the kids. It is so nice to have one with hot water. This home is very simple but met our basic needs for the week. It is an excellent value for the location. The owners were excellent with communication and answering questions prior to booking. We would stay here again.
