We had the opportunity of staying at this enchanting Wallingford home, a beautiful three-story craftsman cottage at the top of the hill overlooking Lake Union, and could not have had a more pleasant experience! Viewing the house from the street, one is captured by the burst of bright color and privacy offered from the substantial plantings around the cozy house. Following the sidewalk around to the back one sees the delightful yard and garden alive with bird life and bouquets of bright mountain flowers. Entering our first floor home, I stepped into a delightful, airy, and uniquely decorated home with tasteful furniture and whimsical decor, roomy enough to feed and entertain my nearby family of 5! Games and maps filled a living room cabinet, bikes and helmets were at our disposal, but the hot-tub enjoyed during our 4th of July BBQ and Community Fireworks evening was the best yet! The owner herself was discreet yet generous with her time and knowledge of the area’s best points of interest and shopping. All in all, we had one of the best vacations ever and will definitely return next year to enjoy a taste of Seattle, with Joyce’s special spice!
Owner response:Wow! Thanks Guys, I do aim to please, but I am humbled by your generous words. I'll try to keep up the good work! Joyce

Spent five weeks here while in Seattle for the birth of our grandson. We found the apartment to be very comfortable and spacious, and the kitchen is well equipped and user friendly! Loved the artistic decorating and the beautiful gardens. The location is ideal...walking distance to great restaurants, cafes, and Gas Works Park, where you will be awed by the panoramic view of Seattle. Shopping nearby and street parking was always available. Joyce is a very gracious and accommodating host.

My wife and I spent three weeks in this cozy get-a-way last Christmas season and would strongly recommend the cottage for anyone looking to be close-in to the city life yet enjoy the quiet tree-lined ambiance of Wallingford. We discovered many quaint shops and restaurants within easy walking distance as we explored this bit of tucked-away Seattle. We recommend Joyce and her cottage without reservation for anyone looking for a completely turn-key housing experience in a great location.

My husband, two children and I had a fabulous time staying here! Very quiet, but so close to everything. A REALLY great park nearby for the kids, a short mile or so from the zoo and a really easy drive to Seattle Center. Very close to great shops and restaurants. Joyce seems to have thought of everything in this lovely place...we were so comfortable and had such fun, we were ready to move in permanently! Can't wait to return.

Joyce's home has become my home away from home! She and Molly and Woody (the dogs!) are one of the things I most look forward to when I visit Seattle -- which is quite often. I attend frequent courses and workshops in the Wallingford area, and it is wonderful to have a friendly, comfortable, welcoming place to stay. Joyce knows all the cool, fun things happening around town, the best places to go, and is very helpful in many ways. I couldn't ask for anything better... but if I did, I'm sure she would find a way to provide it!

Joyce is truly the "inn keeper extraordinaire." My daughter and I enjoyed her better-than-home accommodations and hospitality for 10 days in June 2008. Absolutely no complaints -- well, maybe one: we wanted to stay longer but had to leave Seattle!
Owner response:Thanks, It was so nice to have you return in April.. and you are welcome anytime! Joyce

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! First, the location is great...central to everything we wanted to do in and around Seattle. There is a grocery, a couple of parks, a zoo (!) and it is near the Fremont Arts district. The apartment itself was way more than i expected. I was there in July with my hubby and 4 kids. We all were very comfortable, beds for all, and there was plenty of room. We cooked in almost all of our meals, and there was enough table space for all of us. The street location was quiet, and we never had any sort of problem parking. The apartment was very tastefully decorated, and the gardens were really lovely. Joyce (innkeeper extraordinaire) was so friendly and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back in a heartbeat. This is a really great value!!!

I had an amazing time staying for two weeks at the Seattle Urban Cottage. Wallingford is a fantastic suburb in Seattle. I was over from New Zealand studying for work in the U District and the buses left from not even one minute walk from the house. Joyce was a terrific host and made me feel more than welcome. The house was lovely, and you really felt at home. I would really recommend staying here!
