Wade in the warm, shallow waters of the Chesapeake in search of conch shells. Bike along the paved trails of Kiptopeke. Fish or crab from the local docks. Marvel at the beauty and intricacy of the turn-of-the-century architecture. Play 18 holes of golf at the Signature Arnold Palmer Golf Club. Stroll through the specialty shops of downtown Cape Charles. Enjoy the quiet solitude of nature as you kayak through the marshes and in lands. Take an eco-tour and discover the wonder and beauty of the longest stretch of natural coastline on the entire eastern seaboard. Watch the sun set over the bay. The unspoiled natural beauty, slower pace and genuine southern hospitality of Virginia's Eastern Shore just may cause you to reconsider your definition of the word vacation. There is a beautiful feeling here in Cape Charles, a leave-your-cares-behind attitude that simply cannot be described. You have to experience it for yourself. Be sure to bring your boat, as parking is included! See 'How to have the perfect vacation' video at the bottom of this page!

The condo was great. My wife's only 'complaint' was the upstairs bedroom suite (very large room, bathroom, walk-in closet) wasn't noise isolated from the downstairs enough. She goes to be earlier than the rest of us. The beach was very nice, especially for younger children with the gentle slope. Cape Charles was a little disappointing, but seems to be trying to make a comeback. I wish I would have checked out the golf courses before the last day! I don't think I would have had room in car for clubs, but could have rented some. Both courses look fantastic. One and Arnold Palmer and the other a Jack Nickalaus.Did you find this review helpful? If you are looking for a vacation spot that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, then Kiptopeke is the place for you! Fran has made her townhome a warm and relaxing place to spend a week. We felt at home there the minute we walked in. It is just as it looks in the pictures, with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed the state park right down the road. The beach was uncrowded and the people there were so friendly. We also tried our hand at crabbing for the first time and had a great time! We visited Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg. Chincoteague Island was very enjoyable and the beach there was beautiful. We went to Baltimore Harbor and walked the Boardwalk for hours and then enjoyed a fireworks show before we headed back to Cape Charles. We ended our vacation by taking a sunset cruise on The American Rover. It was one of the most enjoyable things we have done in a very long time. We booked our rental at the last minute and Fran made sure everything went very smoothly. She is very easy to work with and we had many friendly conversations over the phone. It was one of the easiest vacations we have ever planned. Thank you Fran for sharing your lovely townhome with us. We had a great time and we have memories that will last a lifetime. I would recommend Kiptopeke and Fran's townhome to anyone!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A Wonderful Family Vacation!

Our family absolutely enjoyed staying in this spacious and comfortable vacation home! The owner, Fran, is very easy to communicate with, and does an excellent job of making her guests feel "at home." The property literally sits at the entrance to Kiptopeke Park, where we were able to bike to the beach every day to watch the sunrise and sunsets! The property is also very convenient to many other locations and we enjoyed numerous day trips to places like: Virginia Beach, Colonial Williamsburg, Chincoteague Island and Chesapeake Beach which is just on the other side of the Chesapeake bridge/tunnel. We spent time in the charming town of Cape Charles, which offers a wonderful, quiet beach and fun shops to browse in. Make sure you get the chance to have lunch or dinner at "Aqua." When we were planning our trip, other reviews summed this property up perfectly: it offers many things to, or nothing to do at all depending on what you are looking for in your vacation. One thing is for sure, you will not be disappointed! Thank you, Fran, for a wonderful family vacation and memories that will last for a very long time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Cape Charles proved to be a perfect family getaway. Kiptopeke State Park (very close to the house) was a treasure...with hiking, fishing/crabbing, a playground and a lovely stretch of sandy beach with calm surf that our young children could play in safely. The house itself was comfortable, clean and well stocked with all the comforts of home...including bikes, games and even a crab pot to steam the crabs we caught! The neighbors were friendly and the house location was convenient to the major roads so spending the day in Virginia Beach was a breeze. I'd highly recommend this location and this rental home!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Thank you, Fran, for offering such a wonderful vacation rental! Your home was exactly as described and as depicted in the pictures. We loved the location directly at the entrance of Kiptopeke State Park. The neighborhood is awesome and your neighbors are very friendly. We enjoyed the quiet and safety of the neighborhood, considering that our seven-year-old twin boys always want to be outside! They were able to play in the back/side yard without us having to worry about traffic, etc. Your home had all of the amenities we needed and then some! We appreciate your attention to detail, making our stay enjoyable, such as the games, toys, DVD's, linens, beach goodies and the internet. Your home was fully stocked and very clean. The porch swing was a family favorite! Being 3 miles from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel allowed us to take several day trips to Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, Busch Gardens & Norfolk. We loved the beach at Kiptopeke; it was relatively shallow and our boys loved being able to go out far in the water. Fishing off the pier was lots of fun, we caught crab, sting rays and robin fish! We enjoyed our fishing trip on Miss Jennifer as well, where we brought home lots of croakers! The folks who cleaned them even delivered them to our door! You made the rental process easy and we appreciate your availability and responsiveness. Thank you for renting your home and for the great memories. We hope to be back soon! Super WOW! This was and will remain one of our best vacations ever! Fran, you home offered all the comfort we needed for rest, relaxation, and FUN. Cape Charles forced us to slow down! It is a vacation spot where there is absolutely nothing to do OR absolutely everything you can imagine doing. I love the beach in Kiptopeke. There's no commercialism and the kids didn't have any "can I get's" or "can I go's". We were able to play with them, rest, and watch them play as brothers do when they are admist adventure. Sunsets were beautiful and even the rainbows proved to be amazing and welcomed us to VA's Eastern Shore upon our arrival. We had the perfect combination of relaxing while still expencienced the thrill of adventure Kayaking, stopping at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, touring Cape Charles, and then over to VA Beach for a day of fun at the waterpark and Motor World! It all came to an end way too soon! Your house was nestled in the quiet shore line. You had games for the kids to play, lots of extras (so when we forgot something there was no need to worry), and it was clean and inviting. Thank you for allowing our stay! We're looking forward to coming back next year! Make sure your reserve our spot!!! The smiles on my boys faces will be a memory that I hold dear to my heart for a lifetime and will be one that I cherish reliving again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We rented this condo after several years of renting another in the same complex and staying in a local hotel right up the road. We take a trip to Eastern shore yearly with friends who camp at Kiptopeake state park and have friends who come down with us as well to stay at the condo. Everyone loved the condo this year... it was fully equipped, beds were comfortable, and the place was clean. The owner was very accessible when I had questions and was very prompt to respond.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+.

We recently returned from our vacation and I wanted to take a minute to say thanks. The condo is roomy and comfortable and the A/C worked great in 100+ temps. The calm bay beaches were perfect for our 4 year old daughter, while a short day trip up to the beach at Assateague provided great surf on a really nice beach. My parents came along for their first real vacation in years. Thanks to Fran for staying in touch with helpful emails and directions. We hope to visit again some time in the near future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+.

We wanted something quiet and close to home without a lot of tourism and distractions. We found it! The condo was perfect for 4 adults and 2 children. We had fun together but also had enough space to do our own thing. The neighbors were friendly and very helpful but left us to ourselves to enjoy our vacation. The state park was within walking distance and had everything we needed - from swmming on the beach to a small store. It was very hot the week we were there but this did not keep us indoors very long. We also enjoyed the short drive to Chincoteague and the sightseeing in Cape Charles. In the evening we would cook dinner, watch TV, or go to the beach at the park for an evening swim. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet time with friends and family. Fran was very friendly and helpful from beginning to end. You will hear from us again Fran!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus in sehr ruhiger Umgebung

Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+.

About the owner: We first found Cape Charles in 1997 and fell in love. We returned several times and each time became more convinced we needed a part of this unique little town. In 2003 we finally took the plunge. One day, we will retire here. In the mean time, we'll play whenever we can.
