Located 22 miles south of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, the Bay is a few minutes walk from Hale Nani. A marine preserve and underwater wildlife park, Kealakekua Bay has some of the clearest water, healthiest coral, most varied reef fish, and some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Hawaiian Islands. One of the oldest churches on the Big Island (as in James Michener's book, Hawaii) is visible from the lanai. On Sundays, if you listen closely, singing in Hawaiian and English is audible. Nearby is the uniquely painted St. Benedict's Church, as is a coffee mill with complimentary tasting, and the City of Refuge (Pu'uhonua O Honaunau), a U.S. National Park and once the home of Hawaiian royalty. Volcanoes National Park is 80 miles from Hale Nani, a pleasant day-trip.
An island retreat, Hale Nani is an open and airy tri-level home offering panoramic views of Kealakekua Bay. Tastefully appointed, access to as many as 5 bedrooms and 3 baths offer a number of rental options, comfortably accommodating from 1 or 2 to as many as 8-10 guests. For example, one to two people can opt to reserve the master suite alone, with access to the living area on the main level and the washer/dryer on the lower level; three couples can share the house, each with their own level, bath, and sitting area; or 8-10 people can occupy each of the 3 levels (each with a full bath) and each of the 5 bedrooms.
