Enjoyable Stay

Guest: Murrdawg (Atlanta)
Date of Stay: 02/18/12 Review Submitted: 03/02/12

My family and I had the most enjoyable time in St. Thomas. The condo was exactly what we expected, no surprises. The location was perfect, walking distance to Coki Beach and only a short distance to Red Hook. The views and wrap-around porch were incredible. The beach towels and coolers were a nice surprise. Thanks Paul and Juliet -- you were great to work with. We didn't want to leave!

Owner response:How nice to hear the guests found the rental to be all we represented to them, as well as the few extras we did not tell them about. So glad to hear, they loved our convenient location.

Wonderful!

I spent the first week of 2012 in this beautiful condo with my girlfriends and we had an amazing time! The owner, Paul, is very nice and was so resourceful and responsive during our time there, always giving advice and sending us suggestions about places to visit, things do to and where to eat via email. We felt really at home and had everything we needed. The condo was cozy, nicely decorated, impeccably clean, beautiful and in such a convenient location with a breathtaking view. The resort itself is also beautiful. Not to mention, we were a quick five minute drive away from Red Hook, where there are lots of great restaurants and also took the ferry to St. John from there. Smith Bay (Lindquist) beach is also two minutes away, which I believe is the most beautiful beach on St. Thomas! All in all, amazing location, wonderful owner and great experience start to the New Year. I can't wait to get back there!

Owner response:We are so happy to hear these three girls enjoyed their stay with us. What a way to start 2012 year !

Great view and location

Date of Stay: 12/03/11 Review Submitted: 12/11/11

My wife and I just spent 7 days in the unit, and really enjoyed our time there. Paul and Juliet are wonderful to deal with. We had a few small issues with keys and electronics, but they were handled promptly and professionally. The point pleasant resort is literally on the side of a hill, so it is best if your have a car, although the resort has a shuttle that will take you up and down the hill to the main gate. Taxis are everywhere in the area, as is public transportation. The unit has beach chairs and snorkel gear which saves you a lot on rentals. There is also a charcoal grill, but we didn't use it. You can buy fresh fish from a red truck on the south road out of town in Red Hook. It makes for an awesome dinner. Check out Coki beach for great snorkeling. You will swim with the fishes. We took the car ferry twice to St Johns and really enjoyed the pristine beaches there. Be prepared to pay 50 for each crossing that way, so take some passengers to save money. We only have two criticisms about the property. The phone service is out in the unit due to a past storm, so you will have to use your cell phone to make dinner or excursion reservations (or the office can do it for you), and the two restaurants on the property are closed. It seems the economy had an effect on lots of small businesses on St Thomas just like in the states. It did seem that there was some work at Fungi's to try and reopen sometime this season, but it would be at least until Christmas until they looked to be ready. The view from the balcony and the living area are spectacular, and unlike other parts of the complex, you don't see the resort next door, but just water and Islands. I brought a pair of wireless headphones and receiver (less than 50 dollars). It really helped, as you can watch tv while someone sleeps or goes to bed early. The living room area is separated by a curtain. I did hit the edge of the comfortable king sized bed a few times with my knees, so be aware. Groceries are expensive, so shop in the larger stores in the area, or Kmart for food. Overall, we both agreed we would stay in the unit again, and only hoped the restaurants would be open on our next visit.

Owner response:We always try to care for our guests and to respond and resolve all issues promptly. So gal to hear these guests enjoyed their time with us, and around the islands and hope they do return and take advantage of our repeat guests discount.

JUST WOW!!

Date of Stay: 11/18/11 Review Submitted: 11/28/11

We spent five unforgettable days in the Point Pleasant condo. The privacy, views and spacious accommodations were so much more than we expected. Please believe the pictures! The views are to die for. The unit is very comfortable and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. We were even surprised to find that our first breakfast was waiting when we arrived. =D Everything on the island is an easy 10-20 minute drive. The beaches were perfect and the locals very welcoming. Be sure to ferry over to St. John's for a full day of sun, sand, food and shopping. Be aware though, most of the shops (and even some restaurants) in Charlotte Amalie close around 5pm, so plan your visit to the capital city accordingly. Paul and Juliet, you have been an absolute pleasure to deal with. We will recommend your vacation condo to anyone looking for a great island getaway!

Great Condo with an AMAZING View!

Our Family spent a Week at the Point Pleasant Condo and LOVED it! The location was great, your within walking distance of several Great Beaches & others are only a ten minute drive away. The condo is fully equipped with beach towels, chairs, snorkeling equipment & coolers - everything you need for a day at the beach. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare evening meals. Our kids enjoyed winding down and playing games from the selection of games, while My Husband & I would sit on the balcony for hours just enjoying the beautiful view. Your condo was truly a Home Away From Home - in Paradise!!!

Owner response:Todd & Cindy, I am very glad that your family had such a nice stay. I do my best, with the help of my property manager and housekeeper to be sure everything is in order so my guests don't have to worry about anything and that everything they could need or want is in the condo. I also like to have the condo "kid friendly" so they children have things to do and so that no one gets bored. Thanks for visiting my little slice of Paradise! Hope you can return again soon. Paul

Spectacular View - Away From it All, But Near Where You Want to Go

Guest: Dale & Roberta (Beaverton, OR)
Date of Stay: 01/27/11 Review Submitted: 02/15/11

Upon arrival at Pt. Pleasant, we were greeted by security, a reassuring feeling, and directed to Paul’s condo. The property is very tropical and secluded from roads, shopping malls and the like. Upon arrival, we took a minute to admire the view from Pineapple beach to St. John. Spectacular! (Much of our 2 weeks spent in the condo was on spent on the patio just enjoying the view). The night view is even more spectacular being able to view the lights from St. John and Tortola (BVI). After dropping the bags off, we walked down to Fungi’s for lunch and “beverages”. Again another great view of Water Bay while we relaxed at our table. And lunch was perfect. One of the property’s pools is located next to Fungi’s. I was glad to see that the BBQ was a Weber kettle that uses Charcoal briquettes. Most of the dinners that we had “in” were prepared on the Weber. The king bed was very comfortable, and most nights, we didn’t need the covers because the nights were that warm. Every night we kept the windows open to allow ourselves to sleep in the fresh air. The location of Pt. Pleasant is conveniently located near both Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie. We rented a car for the stay and access to both locations was close, but hilly and curvy (as is the entire island). All groceries that we purchased were from Plaza Extra which was located nearby. During your stay, you must consider a visit to St. John by Ferry for only $6/one way or possibly a trip to Tortola BVI which is a little more expensive (bring your Passport). There are many great restaurants nearby in Red Hook and also on property Agave Terrace. Other restaurants to consider that we visited are Romano’s and Latitude 18 (Excellent Fettuccine Alfredo). Mohagny Run golf course is nearby ($165/ round $135 after 1PM) is tight and hilly. Worth playing if just to play the “Devil’s Triangle” by itself (Bring your camera). Expect to pay for beaches like Magens Bay or Smith Bay but they are well kept while the public beaches are well littered. You will find it would be worth it to go to the fee beaches. Things to consider about the condo are that the Bathroom and Kitchen are small but adequate and the WiFi to the condo is available but not free but $9.99/ day or $30 per week. We just visited coffee shops and other WiFi spots to begin our day. This is a perfect condo for evening relaxing and viewing, quiet, secure and also near everything that you want to do. I highly recommend Pt. Pleasant to anyone considering St. Thomas.

Owner response:Dale & Roberta, so glad you enjoyed your stay and had ample time to "really" wind down and enjoy your time in St. Thomas. Thanks for your thoughtful comments and I look forward to hosting you again. Paul

My husband and I stayed here for a week in January 11. This place was great. We fell in love with STT and the area of Red Hook. Juliet was very helpful during our stay and we ended up searching for a place of our own while we were there. Thanks to Juliet we have found a great waterfront condo in Point Pleasant and are looking foward to being owners in this resort.

This was our first trip to St Thomas and WOW! I must say the condo was perfect with great views and the weather could not have been better. We spent alot of time driving around St Thomas and St John to all the beaches, they all are great . Rent a jeep or car its much easier than a cab or shuttle. Driving on the left took a bit of getting use to but not bad.. Redhook was great and all the people we talked with were very friendly and helpful. We cant wait to go back! Paul thanks so much for the use of your condo. The only thing we had a hard time with was leaving.

Our amazing stay!

The condo is the best! We couldn't believe waking up daily to those wrap-around views, and having the large balcony to sit and enjoy dinner and drinks at sunset. We liked going swimming in the pool and then off to dinner at Fungis without even changing,( and my caribbean dinner was definately a treat.) I also enjoyed being able to use the condo to cook big enough meals to have lots of leftovers to pack into the provided cooler for each days excursion, and that was a big $$ saver. We also used the floats, beach chairs, and towels, so we could take off to the amazing beaches and just relax. We also found ourselves having to stay a few more days because of Hurricane Earl, and we were pleasantly surprised to find the condo equipped to handle it!!It was a concrete building and with Pauls condo safely sandwhiched between another floor- we were secure. Then we found the little generator for the radio, and we stocked up on candles, H20, and ice.We also found out the hurrican shutters cover the safety glass amply, and are also a great feature that really does work when the wind is fierce! Our electricity finally did go out, but knowing the wind speeds, & the fragility of the WAPA system, we had power when many did not.Thankfully so,because my son was happily busy playing one of the games provided, and seemed unconcerned with the growning winds and sheets of rain that pounded the outside.:) Once I saw some of the fallen and broken trees and damage outside, I would rent it in a heartbeat again and would definately recommend it for all your needs!!Even the ones your not prepared for! Enjoy, and ThX again Juliet & Paul T & C beck

Owner response:This family of 4 was the best ! They made the Hurricane Earl an exciting event to experience, instead of complaining and worrying, once they were assured they would be safe. Hurry back....

The views from the condo are amazing. We didn't even need the air conditioning because the breeze was amazing at night. Interior of condo was great but a lot of tiny ants, spiders. Not sure if this is an island thing or a problem but they were everywhere. Hopefully it's something they can take care of. Resort is nice but a little run down. Resort is close to Red Hook (which has some great restaurants) and some gorgeous beaches. We rented a car to get around the island and I recommend that. I would definitely rent this condo again if the bug problem was taken care of. It was perfect for my husband and I.

1st Time to St. Thomas

The place is very nice and has an excellent view of the Caribbean and of the nearby islands in which we took full advantage of during our stay. Everything you could possibly need was provided in the condo. We did the snorkeling at Sapphire which was my favorite. Seeing the tropical fish in the natrual reefs was beautiful. From the middle pool looking off you could see the sea turtles. During our stay we met a lot of really nice people. Both Paul and Juliet were very helpful in making this trip a success as it was our 24th wedding anniversary. We are looking forward to a return trip as we were unable to do everything we wanted to do during this stay.

Owner response:So happy to find out the guests enjoyed themselves while staying with us. It is our pleasure to hear from each one, to learn if we can count on them to return for another stay ... we love to help with any celebration. To make it special in any way we can, for anniversaries, birthdays, honeymoon, etc.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon in the first week of June and had a WONDERFUL time. The condo is right up the hill from a small restaurant, a pool and a couple of beaches. Although the walk is a bit tiring, you can't beat the VIEW!! The condo is so comfortable and beautifully decorated. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and reading. When we got too hot we would walk down to the beach and take a dip! When we arrived, the condo was decorated in celebration of our marriage and we even got a gift basket! It was so sweet that they paid attention to those little details and it made us feel really special. We will absolutely be coming back to stay again next year. I think this will be a new tradition for us!

Paradise found

Date of Stay: 06/03/09 Review Submitted: 08/17/09

Part 1 As a "surprise" for my wife's 50th birthday, I began planning a return to the USVI in April 2009. At all other trips, we had stayed on St. John, preferring the tranquil, low key setting and great beaches. We were under the false impression that St. Thomas was the "Party Island". While certainly St. Thomas has a nightlife that eclipses St. John, if you are looking for a spot to enjoy great beaches, good people and value, you can't beat Paul's Caribbean Escape. And you can find your little corner to enjoy as much of the nightlife as you desire. We arrived late in STT on 3 June and had arranged for Bernadette to pick us up (she is the housekeeper). As soon as we exited to baggage claim, there she was waiting. A short trip to the other end of the island and we found ourselves in an unexpected paradise. My wife and I have traveled to many destinations (Mexico, South America, and Asia) and have stayed at some the most exclusive properties but Paul's Caribbean Escape is at the top of our list. Beyond providing a complete kitchen, living room bed & bath, all of the necessities you will need were also there (blender, complimentary rum, coconut milk, pineapple juice and ice). We had even arranged with Bernadette to pick-up some groceries (for which we paid her on arrival and she got everything we requested) so we wouldn't have to rush out in the am next day. But the biggest surprise was the morning next day. While we had seen some of the pictures of the views, not one can really depict the incredible vistas the property enjoys. This more than any other reason makes the property an incredible value. To the left a beautiful unobstructed view of Pineapple beach. Straight north, you can see the charter boats gently bobbing in the serene bay. The eastern view is of particular beauty as you gaze across the channel to the outward islands. The balcony alone is worth the entire price of the rental! After a breakfast in the condo, we arranged for a rental jeep (needed), quickly found our way to Marina (grocery) and stocked up on the balance of our "necessities". We then asked where the best local beaches were and unbelievably Smith's Beach was right on the way back (on the right). This beach easily compares to the best beaches on St. John.

Owner response:We are happy to hear the Guests enjoy our great rental. It is our aim, to make every rentor have a wonderful vacation. As long time island resident, we are able to recommend many exciting places to visit, and things to see. It is our pleasure to share our island home with new friends. We also gladly offer any special requests, for birthdays, anniversaries, honeymoon, or special events you may choose to celebrate while here. We will provision for you prior to arrival for a small charge. Also can arrange baby sitting services, spa services, island tours, etc..

April 4-11, we rented this, plus two other condos for a vacation with 7 adults and one baby. This condo was the main gathering area for mornings and evenings. Perfectly sized balcony gave us plenty of room for relaxing. Juliet could not have been any more accommodating. She kept in touch during the months prior to our visit and even arranged for baby accessories during our trip. (High Chair, Pac-N-Play and stroller) And, The views were wonderful. We ate at Fungi's almost every night. Big Wheel was our favorite staff member. Morningstar cruise is a must see. It was a very relaxing day. Snorkeled at Honeymoon beach, St. John. It was amazing! We went into Charlotte Amalie to shop twice, neither time went very well. The first time, there were no cruise ships, everything had closed early.. The second time was Good Friday, so again, closed early. We ended up getting dinner at the Shipwreck. The food was quite good. We were lucky enough to catch 'half price steak' night. Discover Scuba with Toby at Coki Beach, and another dive with St. John Dive Club. The shipwreck was fun, and we saw turtles and stingray at Turtle Bay. Thanks again to Juliet (condo local manager) Hope to vacation with you again next year! Gina, Mike & Michael Kane

After much planning and anticipation we finally arrived at Point Pleasant. The condo was just as described and neat and clean. Juliet was very friendly and even called to make sure we got in okay on our first night. It was in great location on the East End which is very close to Red Hook where alot of the nightlife takes place. The resort was well kept and we did not have any problems there. You should defiently rent a car as the resort is pretty far from the airport and the taxi for two people is $30. The condo had a grill, snorkel gear, cooler and beach towels all came in good use. Make sure to take a boat tour to St. John for snorkeling, stingrays, barracudas, lots of fish to marvel at. Try Smith Bay Beach, left out of resort past Wyndam then take left down dirt road. I though this beach was not crowded and the water was very clear. Warning : food prices are super high so only buy what you are going to eat, you may even lose weight while on vacation. Overall i loved the place and will defiently want to come back. Get out in the car and explore the island it is easy to navigate once you know the main roads, 30,35,40,42, these will take you around the whole island so it is pretty hard to get lost. Thanks hope this helps. Best beaches : Smith bay, Lindquist, Sugar beach has some snorkeling, Coki beach great spot to hang listen to music have a beer and swin and snorkel. On st. John, Trunk bay, Honeymoon beach you've got to go there.

Our stay was from January 23-2 8, 2008 (Part 2 of 2). In Red Hook, it was a blessing that Marina Market was so conveniently located. We stopped there three times - especially for the fresh fruit and snacks. The East End Italian restaurant was great for lunch and dinner (watch out for the dinner prices). The staff there was friendly. Duffy's Love Shack (located in a parking lot) was fun and lively, with both locals and tourists. Please dance with the old-timer that frequents the bar - he is harmless and is just there to have fun. The Caribbean Bar across the street (up the stairs, on the corner, next to the marina, just in case I got the name wrong) is a sports bar with good food and friendly bartenders. Shopping at Charlotte Amalie (Havensight) is a must-do tourist thing. This is the place to get your obligatory t-shirts, trinkets, rum cakes, and the like. Also, buy yourself some Sheridan's and Cruzan Rum Cream. Check out Jimmy Buffham Tattoos, on t he main drag (highway 30), to the left of Hooters and the Tram, up the stairs and in the back. The folks there were professional, very artistic, and the equipment was sterile (if that is your cup of tea). Going to the top of the tram for sunset and the ships sailing out was an amazing sight. Make time on your trip to do this. On our last day, overlooking the water, we were trying to rationalize not leaving, but our kids made us come back home. We did manage to lollygag around enough to miss our flight. Luckily – or unluckily – there was another flight an hour later. When the ticket counter woman told us that we would not be getting on our flight, ideas swirled around in our heads that we were going to have to “suffer and stay another night at the condo (twist our arms!). Then they told us about the 2nd flight – very depressing. One more thing… when you rent your car, do NOT go with Thrifty. Thrifty shut down operations with no notice before our flight arrived, and with no alternative means of transportation. The Budget folks were very accommodating, and resolved our situation in a reasonable amount of time. Secondly, get yourself a Jeep. The drive through the mountains is challenging enough (yet very breathtaking) – especially driving on the left side – but some of the hairpin turns… bottom line, you’ll want the Jeep. Finally, we got to meet Bernadette on our last day – a very lovely and kind woman, not to men
