Location: Sopers Hole, Tortola, British Virgin Islands BVI, Caribbean (West End.)
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Office, 3.5 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Perched 600-ft. high on the Towers Estate hillside above Ft. Recovery on the desirable West End, Paradise offers breath-taking views of Norman Island, St. John, St. Thomas, Soper's Hole at West End, and Jost Van Dyke. Those who visit Paradise are amazed at the expanse of the vista. Local residents have described Paradise as the best view on Tortola. Looking over the turquoise and blue waters of the Sir Francis Drake channel offers ever changing movements of boats going up and down the channel. The view looks over the first mountain range of St. John into Coral Bay and on clear days St. Croix is seen in the distance. Sunsets are spectacular from this secluded location, and at night the sound of the tree frogs lulls guests to sleep. The lights of the other islands in view twinkle at night providing a beautiful view in the dark. The stars abound in the nighttime sky above Paradise.
This new home offers tropical leisure and comfort on both levels with wrap around balconies on both floors. It is decorated with the colorful Caribbean in mind---yellows, greens, raspberry, and blues. The white wicker and furniture come alive with the bright splashes of tropical colors used throughout. The decor speaks fun, happy, and relaxed. The owner is an artist and has put her special touches on the home.
The entire home opens onto the pool and deck area, which has covered dining space. The living area doors slide back into the walls making the interior space one with the outdoor dining and pool deck. The infinity edge pool gives the illusion of merging with the water in the distance. The house is carved into the granite mountainside and local stonework is featured on the front entrance walk to the home and the pool deck. A gas grill waits on the deck for preparation of casual meals. An LCD TV and surround sound system allow guests to enjoy their favorite music both inside and outside on the deck/pool area.
The master bedroom suite is on the main level along with the dining/living/kitchen area and a powder room for guests. The second floor has two guest suites, each with large private baths and double sinks. One guest room has a king bed, and one has two queen beds. An office with Wi-Fi and Fax receiving capability is also located on the second floor. Both guest suites have balconies with rocking chairs for morning coffee, afternoon reading, or view of the glorious island sunsets. If the weather is hot, all bedrooms and office are air-conditioned. Every room has ceiling fans to capture and stir the continuous tropical breezes.
Paradise provides all the amenities of home--modern appliances and laundry equipment, Wi-Fi, and LCD TV-DVD with surround sound. It is a short drive over the hill to Smugglers Cove and Long Bay, two of the island's prettiest beaches. The West End is a highly desired private, quiet area of the island yet only a short distance away to good beaches, restaurants, and the ferry dock.
Note: Paradise is not a home suitable for small children as the pool and living area are open and the home is on a mountainside.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2006
Jim and Beverly Kilpatrick are the owners of Paradise. During his 33 year career of flying with American Airlines, Jim found the most beautiful view in the world---the location of our home named Paradise. He flew around the world while Beverly worked as an educator and a part-time artist in the US. Our 4 daughters grew up sailing for family vacations in the BVI; thus we chose to have a more permanent "home" in this gorgeous spot and graduated from sail boats to a house. After a short month or so of retirement, Jim returned to the flying world as an instructor and Beverly continues to keep her watercolors flowing.
Why the Owner Chose Sopers Hole
The stunning location of Paradise was chosen for its breath-taking 180-degree view overlooking Norman Island, St. John, St. Thomas and Jost Van Dyke. Jim and Beverly toured the entire island looking for that one particular spot. Paradise was then lovingly designed and built by the owners over a several year process. Each room was carefully thought out and designed for the mountainside and indoor-outdoor Caribbean lifestyle by Jim. Beverly decorated the home with raspberry, sage, and lemon yellow to reflect the bright Caribbean world with the goal of a home that is happy, artsy, funky, and fun! Her artwork is featured through murals and paintings. The name was chosen because it is Paradise, but also because of the song from our Cane Garden Bay friend and singer, Quito Rymer, whose song Paradise depicts our dream. "Big, big, big old jet plane...take me to my Paradise!"
The Unique Benefits of this House
Guests enjoy the most spectacular views and sunsets imaginable! The infinity edge pool flows visually into the Sir Francis Drake channel. The home merges into the mountainside and is secluded above the world while surrounded by tropical plants and flowers. The sounds of birds and the coquis provide soft sounds while guests watch the boats go up and down the channel. It is just a short drive away to the best beaches on Tortola, to restaurants for dining, as well as to the ferry dock to jump off to other islands.

Homeowner Response:
We were also there this winter and it is the first winter that was "rainy" and we noticed the mosquitos. Normally, this is a dry season and NO mosquitos.
