Our cottage is within 200 yards of Fenway Beach, an ideal place for children to swim because of its shallow water. Another beach, the Inn Beach, is a short walk away. That one and a half mile long barrier beach shelters a tidal pond for sailing, boating and kayaking.
Our living room is 30 feet long and is the cottage gathering place. The sofa is a daybed, so in a pinch the cottage can sleep one more. In the morning you can breakfast at the southern end of the living room at the built in bench and watch the ocean for sailboats. Or you can set out breakfast for late risers in the pass through between our kitchen and an old fashioned dining room with four long windows and ocean views. If you don't feel like cooking breakfast, a quick walk to the Inlet store will get you muffins and coffee.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with a single twin bed, two with two twin beds). The master bedroom has ocean views from both of its windows and one of the twin bedrooms also has an ocean view. Downstairs there is one bedroom with two twin beds and its own bathroom and entrance to the outdoors. Stepping Stones is a seasonal cottage built in 1874 as servants' quarters for an adjacent home. It is full of light and decorated with posters from the foreign travels of three generations. |
