Thank you for providing such a comfortable vacation spot. Sean and I had a fabulous time while celebrating our honeymoon. The treehouse was more than we had hoped for. The outdoor shower and hammock were amazing! We felt as though we were a world away from the hussle and bussle of the resorts. We also couldn't have asked for better hosts! While visiting the north shore was nice, the south shore is really the place to be for sure. During our stay we hiked in Waimea Canyon out to the NaPali coast; we experienced the botanical gardens and lounged and played on various beaches. Coming back to the treehouse each day was a relief from each day's activities. Thank you. Take care.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you for the lovely treehouse. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Also, thank you for arranging the chopper ride, and lending me snorkel gear. The south part of the island is just as lovely as the north. My recommendation for anyone staying here would be to get out the door early for any hiking adaventures. Waimea Canyon gets socked in by noonish. Salt Ponds has some great snorkeling. Kalaheo cafe is fantastic! Ishihara has delicious poke. Mahaulepu Heritage trail is worth the walk. (I spotted and watched a pod of spinner dolphins for 35-40 mins off Punahoa Point and a rather large monk seal dropped in on the beach) Oh and visit Kauai Coffee and Aloha Spice Shop. Yum. My list goes on but I'll stop there. I'll be back soon to see more of Kauai for sure. Aloha.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at the Kauai Tree house for our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect! It looks just like the pictures and had everything as described. Talk with Neil if you can, he is full of knowledge; we wish we would have had more time to talk with him. Rent a convertible, this is the BEST way to see the island, its SOOOOOO beautiful. We highly recommend Na Pali zodiac raft tours with Joe, Ziplinging, Poi’Pu Beach and make sure you get a Puka Dog! YUMMY Thank You Sharon and Neil for the fabulous stay! We will for sure be back again! Dani & RobRecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Thank you for sharing the magical treehouse! We thoroughly enjoyed living in the mossy tangle of trees: the winds, the birds, horses and vistas filled our mornings and evenings. What a glorious home - we are grateful for our week in the treehouse!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This past January found us staying at this quaint little place for 3 nights, and boy do we wish we stayed longer! The house is warm and inviting and has a fabulous outdoor shower that was just the ticket to the Aloha Experience. (Seriously- being outside with a hot shower and stargazing is something nobody should miss out on!) The place is completely stocked for staying there; it has a full size fridge (which is nice) with plenty of cooking supplies to shower towels. Even the furniture was lovely, gave it that nice hawaiian island feeling. Crickets gently put you to sleep at night and waking up to birds singing away in the treetops… What a great little spot this place is! Neil is more than ready to help out with any questions/concerns you have (we had none, this place was easy!) He also is a great resource for local insider knowledge- make sure to ask his opinion on activities you are doing, he makes great suggestions. Great little coffee and breakfast place 5 minutes down the road, make sure to check it out. Overall it was an incredible experience staying there from the place to the people and if he hadn’t been booked we would have stayed longer (which is our biggest regret, make sure to book early!) When I come back there is no question about where I’m staying at! Thanks Neil and Sharon for sharing such a great place to all!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Our stay at this location was peaceful and delightful! The location was especially nice because it's just high enough on the hill to be a little cooler than the rest of the south shore. The photos and description were accurate, and the owners were helpful with recommendations on local activities.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

The treehouse was absolutely magical. Our hearts were pounding with excitement as we drove up the hill and we were in awe of the beauty surrounding us. The treehouse was everything we could have ever dreamed of. We had some amazing moments, eating breakfast on the lanai, amongst the trees and watching them sway as the trade winds cooled us off. There is nothing like taking a warm shower as you enjoy the view of the glowing clouds from the sunset behind the lush trees. You were excited to go to sleep b/c then you climbed into your cozy loft and lay quietly as you appreciated the stars above you and watched the trees humming with the rhythm of the wind. Some complain about the roosters but I loved every bit of it. It is a part of the culture of the island and if they weren't around it wouldn't be the same. The horses that live next door are friendly and it was such an added bonus to be able to visit them as we pleased. Neil and Sharon were wonderful hosts and made sure to welcome us in every way- leaving beach accessories, toiletries, cards, books and more. We had the most amazing stay and are so appreciative to have the special treehouse as a part of our memory.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

88 shrines
"A century ago Japanese immigrants to Kauai built these 88 shrines. Beneath each one, they buried grains of sand or dirt taken from the original shrines in Shikoku, Japan. By the late 1960′s, the shrines and temple route had fallen into disrepair. Now restored thanks to the efforts of many volunteers, the Lawai International Center describes itself as “a non-denominational place of peace, healing and Aloha.” Located on a steep hillside outside the town of Lawai., the 32 acre grounds were once the site of an Hawaiian heiau and Taoist and Shinto temples."

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1990
About the owner: Neil was born in Wales and has lived on Kauai since 1980. He designed and built Kauaitreehouses in various stages beginning in the early 90's. Neil met Sharon, who was born in South Africa in December 2003. Now married - they relish the opportunity to share this unique slice of the beautiful island of Kauai - a place which is such an incredible delight and privilege to call home.
Why the Owner Chose Kalaheo:
Neil bought the land because he loved it. While it has a rural feel, is beautiful, and is quiet (off a cul de sac), it is very central and 'civilization' is but a few minutes drive. Also, being in the hills it is lush and cooler,...the latter in summer...is an absolute blessing!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Ability to enjoy an 'authentic' Kauaian experience. Owner built and he lives on the property and will gladly talk story and share his ideas on must sees and do's. Surrounded by trees and abundant bird life...and yet within ten minutes you can be on the popular beaches of sunny Poipu.
