This was my second stay in the lovely cottage. This time it was with my family of four including two teens. There was plenty of room, it was clean, all kitchen 'needs' were available for cooking. It is within close walking distance to everything. Earlier this fall we had a girls weekend away and agin it was perfect! It was a bit tight for 7 but doable! I would highly recommend this home and the folks that own it are very easy to work with.

My family and I stayed at the Seward House this summer. It was clean, cozy and comfortable. The location was a short walk to the waterfront, park, movie house and Sea Life Center as well as to downtown dining and the quaint shops. The cottage housed 8 of us very comfortably. There was comfortable seating in the family area for watching movies, TV, reading or playing games. The kitchen was well equipped and the dining table accommodated all of us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Seward House for anyone wanting to stay in the area.

We had the pleasure of staying at Tanguy's house over the 4th of July. What an ideal location! Within walking distance to everything and perfect for those traveling with kids. This house exceeded our expectations! As we were traveling with small children (ranging in age from 3 months to 6 years), we were a bit apprehensive - however, we were pleasantly surprised by how clean, spacious and well appointed this house was. I would recommend it wholeheartedly and hope to utilize it again in the future. Thanks, Tanguy, for making our family vacation truly spectacular!

It's conveniently located within walking distance of a coffee shop, restaurants, and fun shops. Highly recommended. I hope to stay there again soon!

We had a wonderful visit in Seward mostly because of the home we stayed in. This house is 1 block away from the water, 2 blocks from the main street, walking distance from everything! Shops, Sealife Center, Bakeries, Coffee Houses, ETC!!! The comforts of being able to stay in a fully furnished home made our trip so much more enjoyable. Thank you for offering us a great place to relax on our vacation. Highly recommended and we will be a return customer! We miss you Seward!!!

I love, love, loved this little property. With a larger family it was perfect to have a place for everyone to sleep. No paying over the top hotel prices for sleeping 6! It was central to the library, SeaLife center, downtown, and park. Everything was within walking distance. It was a charming little 100 year old cottage that I didn't have to worry about the kids coming in and out with muddy shoes. It isn't your typical sterile cottage or rental. Everything was charming and authentic to this sleepy little town. They had books on the shelves to read, videos to watch on those colder rainy days, and tea in the cupboard. Charming and wonderful. I easily read the directions for lighting the diesel stove when we just wanted to heat the living room. Everything was outlined in a welcoming binder. The owners were happy to answer any questions I had when we called to ask about the FREE wireless internet, extra sheets, and the heat. If reviewers had issues with smells we never have. The smells are just what they are. Old town Seward. Salt water and trees, big city folk don't always realize that. In the evenings we were able to grill up our fresh fish on the grill out back. If you want a no stress welcoming little place to stay with your kids you have found the right place. Drop your fishing gear, throw the rain coat on the hook, kick off the Xtra Tuffs and enjoy. This is like borrowing a good friends little place for the weekend. This wasn't our first stay and will not be our last.

We stayed in the home for 2 nights a few weeks ago. Now that we are home from our vacation, we stopped to reflect on our time in Alaska. Seward was the best stop for everything. The Seward House was perfectly located, right in downtown... a few blocks walk from all the activity. And it was very peaceful and cozy. Being able to stay in a home that was built in the near years of 1910, we were just amazed out how life was different for folks back than. Thanks for keeping this good old gem as close to historic as possible, that is what made the stay so fun! We'll be back! Thank you!

Our fishing group had reserved this cottage for 2 nights. We found the house to be small and dungy. The bathrooms were very small with curling tile on the floor. We turned on the heat but the smell of the furnace was so bad we had to open all the windows and went without heat rather than endure the smell. We definitely would not recommend this home.
Owner response:We always appreciate comments regarding our cottage. Our guests generally find the home to be charming. There are two heating options in the home, including forced heat as well as the diesel fired furnace, which is typical for small town Seward heating.. As always, I am happy to address any concerns and have local help to assist as needed.

I stayed at Tanguy's house for a week in June '09, and could not have been happier. The house is quirky and really neat, the cabin room is super cool! The house was a notable part of the family vacation, a fun place we will remember for sure, almost brings tears to my eyes to think about.
Owner response:Thank you,we are delighted you loved the Downtown Seward House as much as we do. We hope to see you again!

Very pleasant experience! I would recommend The Downtown Seward House to family and friends! The owner even accommodated us with a special request on the day of check in. Beautiful house in a great location. We stayed in July of 2008.
