At the gateway to Wailea, this luxury oceanfront unit, #607, is located on the top floor of the Kihei Surfside Resort with sweeping views of the ocean and the islands of Molokini, Kaho'olawe, Lanai and the West Maui mountains. It was completely renovated and refurnished in August, 2007 with rattan furnishings, cherry cabinets, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances in the kitchen and tile and laminate floors.
The living room has a queen sofabed, a flatscreen TV with DVD and a stereo with an IPod port. There is free internet access and long distance calling to Mainland U.S. and Canada. A fully mirrored wall in the living/dining room gives ocean views from any vantage point in the area. The bedroom has a queen bed with a TV/VCR, telephone and a safe for valuables. Both the living room and the bedroom have multi-speed ceiling fans. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. All necessary utensils are provided, as well as Hawaiian motif dishes. All linens are included. Beach accessories are provided including umbrella and beach chairs. Laundry facilities are located on the first floor of the building. The building commom walkways were refurbished in May, 2008.
The Surfside is situated on an acre of manicured lawn with a heated pool for guests and a gas barbeque and tables on the ocean. Wailea and Keawakapu beach, rated one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, are just steps away. Croquet sets are also available for guests. Chairs and lounges are provided for use on the lawn and at poolside. In the winter months, there are frequent whale sightings from this property. The Pacific Whale Foundation uses this area to count whales annually. Guests often gather in the evening to watch the sunset ceremony and to meet other vacationers, as the tiki torches provide a beautiful Hawaiian atmosphere.
The Kahului airport is approximately 25 minutes away. Both the airport and Kihei have many options for car rentals. Costco and the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center are just outside the airport. Kihei also has Safeway, Star Market and Foodland for groceries. There is alo a small general store/deli on the property adjacent to the Surfside.
The Wailea area has many world class golf courses and for those who like upscale shopping, there are THE SHOPS AT WAILEA. Both Kihei and Wailea have many fine restaurants from which to choose. Windsurfing, snorkeling and surfing are favorite activities for many visitors.
