We stayed at this apartment for a month in April 2012 and it was perfect. You really can't find better if you want to live like a local. The apartment is huge for New York standards with a spacious feel. The apartment is well presented, immaculate and clean. You walk through the door and can't believe you have found this gem. The area of Chelsea where the apartment is located would have to be the best area to stay in Manhattan. It is close to major subway lines around the corner and down the street, you will never need to use taxis and will be anywhere uptown or downtown within a few minutes. It is close to everything, but far enough away on the cutest suburban street that you will think you are not in NYC when you return after a day exploring. Norma who rents this apartment is friendly, obliging and a true host. She will answer any questions you have about the property before you book and whilst you are there. We already told Norma that we will be back in a few years, as will you once staying here. This apartment is one of those real finds that you will not want to tell everyone, for fear it will be booked up when you need it next. So plan your flights around staying at the "Chelsea Charm".

This one bedroom apartment in a lovely brownstone on a tree lined street was absolutely perfect. It was tastefully furnished and very comfortable. It was very large for New York with the bedroom down the hall from the living room. The private patio off the livingroom was lovely as well especially on a warm evening. There are great restaurants within a four block radius and easy grocery shopping. I loved staying here and will definitely return. It was a five star experience!!!

This apartment is truly a home away from home. For my mother's fiftieth birthday, I wanted to find a comfortable haven for her and her two best friends to spend a birthday weekend in New York. A hotel would have been cramped and busy, and I wanted them to feel at home in the city for their stay. They instantly fell in love with the apartment's spacious and well-appointed interior. When I picked them up at the end of their weekend, they reiterated how much they enjoyed the space - the amazing shower to relax at the end of a long day of walking, the soft towels in the bathroom, the back patio to sit and chat with a cup of tea, the kitchen to prepare breakfast, the comfortable living room with fireplace. Also, the ample closet space for each of the three of them! Norma is also such a reliable, responsive, and welcoming host. She allowed me to see the apartment prior to putting down a deposit, and was very responsive with email as little questions arose. During their stay, if my mother and her friends had questions, Norma was upstairs and willing to come down to answer their questions (i.e. how does the DVD player work?). She goes above and beyond to make the apartment feel like home for her guests. My mother had such a wonderful time that she's considered selling her house in Pennsylvania and begging Norma if she can rent the space!

It’s easy to be skeptical when booking a place online. But I can tell you that you will not be disappointed by this lovely apartment in the Chelsea area (22nd, between 7th & 8th). Pictures don’t do it justice…they can’t show the comfort, the deluxe features, the graciousness of the owners…all the things that will make this a special place to call “home”. My 7-1/2 year old son and I visited NYC for a week, which was just too long to spend in a hotel. We were lucky that this apartment was open for the week that we were there. I travel to NYC often, and it was a real pleasure to have the experience of “living” here vs. “visiting”. Other reviewers offer some restaurant recommendations; we took advantage of having a kitchen for most of our visit, and the nearby Whole Foods store is wonderful. An ideal home base for business travel or for exploring any part of the city (subway stop only 1-1/2 blocks away; less than 5 min. walk -- we did the 7-day MetroCard which was a great deal for us). I look forward to returning soon!

We loved our stay in this beautiful apartment. The location is perfect, with subways in the next street (only three stops to Times Square!) and plenty of shops and some great restaurants at either end of the street in 7th and 8th Avenues. Chelsea Pier is a short walk away, and we loved exploring the High Line and Chelsea Markets. It was so convenient to be able to buy fresh fruit salad, muesli and yoghurt from the corner store, as well as fresh bagels and freshly squeezed orange juice from Murray's for breakfast each morning. The apartment is spacious, scrupulously clean and very comfortable. There are lots of thick towels in the bathroom, and a great shower. The bedroom was roomy, and the bed very comfortable. We did find it rather noisy at night, but discovered only on our last day that the bedroom window had been open a fraction during our stay, allowing street noise to penetrate. If only we had known that earlier! However, that was our only concern. The owner, Norma, was very helpful and friendly, without being intrusive. We would certainly choose to stay here again if we should have the fortune to return to New York - it is perfect!

We absolutely agree with the positive comments of previous reviews.Ideal for NY;quiet;accessible;tastefully decorated;excellent heating /cooling;allows self catering if that is your wish, supported with quality utensils/crockery/pans etc.We used the frequent metrobus extensively which virtually leaves from the corner to go uptown and downtown.Better than the subway for us as no need to dash up and down steps. The 7 day pass was only $27 and can be used on both bus & subway. Overall,a great stay.

Three of us, my 17 year old daughter, wife, and myself enjoyed fantastic week staying in this property. This is a very clean, nicely decorated apartment. It is on a basement level, but you do not feel it as you will get plenty of sunlights from patio and a window in the bedroom. Location is super. This is in a safe residential area, but a short walk will take you to a lot of nice restaurants. A few blocks to multiple subways. We did not have any problems, but I am sure you will get immediate help as the owner lives upstairs. Will we come back? Certainly.

The three of us,our 15 year old daugther included, visited New York for the first time. We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It was exactly as described in the other reviews: clean, nice and comfortable, with a very friendly owner, in a nice neighbourhood and very centrally situated. We will certainly recommend this property to friends or relatives.

This apartment is a real gem in the heart of Chelsea, on a gorgeous, treelined residential street. It is centrally located to all Manhattan has to offer. The subway lines are within a one to two block walk, which will get you uptown/downtown or westside/eastside easliy. We hopped on the E and arrived a half block from MOMA. It is within a short walk to the Highline, plenty of restaurants, grocery stores and many clothing stores/shops in the Flatiron district and Meatpacking district. Murray's Bagels is around the corner and a great place for your morning breakfast bagel. We also found an excellent coffee shop two blocks away, Cafe Grumpy. It is a 2 block walk to the Flatiron district and The Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. The apartment is spotless, well maintained and very comfortable. There are plenty of towels, paper products, a small washer/dryer combo. The kitchen has the items you need to cook your meals, along with a dishwasher and full sized fridge. The bed is comfortable and cozy after a long day of walking and sightseeing. Everything is as pictured and described. Norma is extremely helpful and friendly. They live upstairs and are readily available to answer questions and help out, but not intrusive in anyway. This apartment is a quiet oasis in a hectic city. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay in New York.

The apartment is very comfortable with a large living area, including two good sofas and a big dining table. The kitchen, though small, is well equipped and perfectly adequate for cooking. The presence of a good coffee machine was much appreciated. The bedroom has a lot of storage space. If you dont want to cook there are very good restaurants in easy walking distance. Two, recommended by the lessor, were very good indeed, viz, The Green Monkey and La Zie. I am sure her other recommendations (helpfully placed in a note on the fridge along with other useful information) would also be worth trying. The apartment is situated a block either way from two well serviced subway lines in a pleasant and expensive residential area. Good food shops and a couple of supermarkets are close by, but not too near. There are a number of commercial modern art galleries two blocks away around 19th Ave. We saw several new Hockneys at Pace Wildenstein and a number of more bizarre efforts elsewhere. The lessor lives in the house above the basement apartment; this is not in any way intrusive and obviously means that she is right on your doorstep if you do have problems. Overall we would certainly choose to stay here again, and it would be our first choice any time we are in NY. Much better and probably cheaper than a hotel room.

This is a lovely apartment, located in a quiet residential street in what seemed to me to be one of the nicest parts of Manhattan. It is very close to two Metro stops; numerous shops including a Whole Foods supermarket and a short walk from access to the High Line park. The apartment is spacious, in very good condition and well equiped. It had many things I have found lacking in other rental apartments, such as plenty of towels in the bathroom, good lighting, a good stock of cooking and dining equipment, a full length mirror, lots of hangers and many other details that make a house feel like a home. I would definitely hope to stay here if I return to NYC and will be recommending it to my friends and family.

Our family rented this apartment for six weeks in June/July 2009. After searching numerous rental properties, we found this gem in Chelsea! My husband was only able to stay for two weeks, so my daughter and I were there alone most of our stay. We felt completely safe at all times and the beautiful tree-lined street is extremely quiet. The location couldn't be better! Two subway lines are located within two blocks of the apartment, making it easy to get anywhere you need to go. Numerous eateries, serving every cuisine you could possibly desire, are just a short walk in any direction. Believe me, we tried a lot of them during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed them all! A Whole Foods market and gourmet grocery store are located just a few short blocks away. The apartment is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen has full size appliances and numerous kitchen gadgets to make your stay comfortable. There is enough counter space to cook with ease. There is a small washer/dryer combination in the apartment which was really useful considering the length of our stay. The bedroom has a comfortable bed and more than enough closet space to make you feel at home. We did use the maid service and her work was outstanding. Although the apartment was terrific in every way, I think the best part of our stay was Norma, the owner. She made us feel comfortable throughout our extended stay. For example, she let us borrow one of her picnic blankets to use at the parks and for the 4th of July. She was a wonderful resource for any questions I had such as water taxis, free activities, where to buy the best flowers, etc. The list goes on and on! The owners even graciously put us up in a lovely hotel for one night while the floors above us were being refinished and the fumes were traveling into the apartment!! Clearly, she went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. The next time we travel to NYC we will search no further than to send a quick email to Norma to check availability!!

We have rented homes all over the world (Paris, Taos, Banff, Moab, SW Michigan) and were very pleased with our experinece. This was a perfect home base for us, a couple from Chicago and our 18 year old. Apartment was exactly as indicated in the photographs and as advertised. Owner is very pleasant and efficient. Plenty of closet space (more than 50 inches of closet rod in BD with a dozen wooden hangers) and big dressers that swallowed up the contents of our luggage. LR/DR have plenty of natural light and lots of room to maneuver. This is a larger apartment than many of the 1 BD listings elsewhere. Kithen was well-equipped with plenty of utensils, pans and serving dishes if you care to make dinner. Kithen and bathroom are recently re-done and spotless. Bathroom was farily large with plenty of soft and thirsty towels and replacement paper products. Shower jets were powerful with plenty of hot water. Overall, the apartment is well-thought out. One small examples is the large bathroom mirror, make-up vanity lights above it and a very large medice\ine cabinet behind it so we were able to unpack our travel bath kits. Located on a quiet, tree-lined street. I loved it when I went out for morning bagels and orange juice that I was greeted by chirping birds. This is an attractive building on a street with many of them. Plenty of pedestrian traffic all day, so we felt safe at all hours and when returning late at night. Highly convenient with the following available within 1.5 blockis: 5-6 grocery places, 3 pharmacies (one 24 hour), two subway lines, too many restaurants to count. The two subway lines provide direct service to Penn Station, Times Square, Upper West Side, Wall Street, Greenwich VIllage and Soho. For other locations, (Upper East Side, Chinatown, Lower East Side) either transfer to a second subway line or walk 3-5 blocks for the primary service line. We will be seeking this place out when we next return to New York and will be referring our friends.

My partner and I rented this great apartment for five nights in September and were very, very happy with our decision! Everything was just as advertised. The owners and housekeeper were very helpful which made our stay more enjoyable. Even though we were in the very heart of Chelsea, this beautiful brownstone building is in the center of a block of homes on a picturesque tree-lined street. We loved being able to charge into the city by jumping on the subway only a block from the house and, equally, to be able to run back to our quiet hide-away and relax after a frantic day of sight-seeing and shopping. We also took advantage of the great location to take many long walks, a highlight of our stay. The apartment was perfectly clean, well maintained and equipped with the thoughtful touches that make a vacation rental special and not merely adequate: Linen that felt luxurious, lots of thirsty thick towels, a shower with tons of hot, steamy water in the clean, well lit bathroom. A kitchen with all the essentials with Cuisinart pots and pans. The secure wireless Wi-Fi was lightning fast and we got our laptop hooked up immediately with no hassle. We could have fed ourselves just running to any one of fifty delis within a block of the house but, with the nice kitchen, we chose to cook for ourselves and shopped in the grocery one block away. Our New York friends were green with envy after seeing our home away from home. We will certainly recommend this apartment to our friends and will come again ourselves the next time we are in NYC.

The location, layout and the amenities provided were exactly as described. I especially appreciated that the property was immaculate, the bed and bath linens impeccable, the beds comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The closets, complete with wooden hangers, were easily sufficient for four guests. The owner lived in the same building; but was present only when required. She was helpful and answered all my inquires thoroughly - local shopping, convenience stores and even an emergency dentist. Although I had requested the apartment for only two guests, the landlady was quite affable taking care of sleeping arrangements for two extra guests for two nights of my stay. Maid service was provided upon request promptly. The only disappointment was the outside terrace which had a dreary aspect. The apartment was centrally located which gave it walking access to theatres, restaurants, art galleries and shopping. For everyday needs there wasn't anything further than a block's radius - pharmacies, food shopping, laundry and dry cleaners service, post, gourmet food markets, wine store, cinema house, shoe repair, bakery, etc. etc. If one did not want to bother with even a short walk to a wide choice (both cuisine and price) of restaurants there was every ethnic takeout delivery service available in the immediate vicinity. I would highly recommend the apartment to a couple, a family with young children or a even a business person who prefers the comfort of home to the impersonal ambiance of a hotel. After only one week in the apartment I felt as if I had truly experienced life as a Manhattan resident.

Thank you so much for sharing this friendly, comfortable "cozy home-away-from-home"! My step daughter and I loved the great location right around the corner from the subway and so many great restaurants and shops. The fireplace was perfect for the cold winter nights. We are already looking forward to our next visit and hope to be able to use this lovely apartment again and again as our base for exploring NYC. Many thanks for the hospitality.
