Wonderful place to stay in Trastevere

Guest: Ocean lover (Chicago)
Date of Stay: 02/29/12 Review Submitted: 04/11/12

We had a great stay in this lovely flat. The light and views were wonderful and the overall feel of the apartment most charming. We really enjoyed being able to get to most places we wanted to visit easily (nearby public transport or walking) as well as being able to walk to excellent foodie destinations in Trastevere: La Renella for pizza and bread, Friends Cafe for coffee, Drogheria Innocenzi for beans, coffee, tea, pasta, etc., Enoteca Ferrara for dinner and an amazing wine list, Bernabei for wine, Antica Caciara for cheese and salumi... and Billa for all else! Paolo is a very friendly and helpful landlord -- available for every need and request. Highly recommended!

Old world charm with all modern amenities

My husband, my daughter, and I spent 12 days in this light and airy, clean and well-maintained apartment overlooking a charming courtyard filled with persimmon trees and palms. We loved the neighborhood--especially the elegant, quiet street--and enjoyed shopping for produce in the Cosimato market. The apartment's kitchen was very well equipped, and we prepared several dinners there after particularly strenuous days of sightseeing. It was a warm, comfortable, and inviting place to come home to. Trastevere is a fascinating part of Rome: beautiful old churches, nice shops, good restaurants. Although gentrified since the days when Fellini filmed there, it has retained its character. Paolo and Carmine were gracious hosts: helpful and available but always discreet, tactful, and respectful of our privacy. We look forward to spending our next Roman Holiday in their delightful apartment.

Perfect location

This is a beautiful apartment in a great location. Everything is walkable from here. Or take the short tram ride on Via Trastevere across the bridge getting off at the last stop. You can also take a bus to the Vatican which winds above the city with amazing views. The street is quiet, but the action is close by. My idea of perfection in accommodations. Look carefully out of the living room window and you will sometimes see a green bird that could be a leaf. Quite something. Paolo was a very gracious host and close by if you needed him. I would definetly stay there again.

Very good accomodation

We only stayed three days in this fantastic apartment in the medieval neighborhood of Trastevere and we really regret not being able to stay longer. Unfortunately it was the end of our journey. We were also in Florence, but the apartment was disappointing in every respect. In fact we were quite skeptical about finding a good accommodation, but at the end there was nothing to worry about. Grazie Paolo for welcoming us into an apartment above our expectations. A couple of our friends have already booked for next June!

Wow… we exclaimed as soon as we crossed the threshold of the apartment. It’s even nicer than most of the photos posted on VRBO. Bright and welcoming, with contemporary art paintings on the walls and some nineteenth century furniture. The area is convenient, safe and well connected with other parts of the big historical center of Rome. The owners are really nice, they pointed out a couple of fantastic places off the beaten track, such as the Centrale Montemartini where you can admire amazing roman marble sculptures inside an old power plant. An experience that we recommend!

Lovely apartment in a beautiful, quiet and green area. An elegant building in a safe neighborhood close to the picturesque Trastevere district. Finally, a charming apartment, decorated with a refined Italian taste. Paoolo, exquisite conductor, addressed us to the best restaurants of Trastevere. We will hopefully come back next year.

Rome is Rome, one of the most beautiful cities we visited in our lives. If you happen to find such a good location, well, what should I say? It all turns into a haevenly experience. That's exactly what happened to us, thanks to this apartment: bright, quiet, clean, charming... we would come back for sure!

We loved the apartment. With a beautiful view over wide gardens with palm trees, quiet but close to the alleys of Trastevere, a neighborhood full of restaurants and bars. My daughter Linda, who is sixteen, deeply enjoyed the medieval area also because it is extremely safe. With nothing to worry about she had fun every evening with the daughter of some friends of us who had also taken an apartment in Trastevere, but, I can tell you, it was not as lovely as this one.

We spent a week in this lovely apartment, the place was very clean and maintained. The flat is set in a pleasant residential area and it is very convenient to reach all the most popular sites. We loved the art that Paolo selected to decorate the apartment and the wonderful view over the gardens. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment is very quiet, day and night. We had all the modern comforts including a very fast and reliable wifi connection, and that made things much easier. The owner was very helpful and we would definetely stay there again!

Apartment lovely, clean not so much

Guest: T.O. (Toronto Canada)
Date of Stay: 09/22/11 Review Submitted: 10/02/11

Spent 4 days in September. The location is ideal, close to everything and the apartment building is beautiful. Unfortunately, the white sofa and chairs were heavily soiled, the chair cushions for the dining room table were similarly dirty. The bathroom has a step up to the sink and could cause injury if someone were unable to regain their balance while using the sink.

Owner response:This review is really unfair, everyone else was very happy with the apartment over the years, just take a look at the other guests comments. We also had some guests coming back several times and the apartment is always very well kept.

I spent 4 nights at this bright, tranquil and spacious apt with my wife and our two 10 year olds who had previously never been to Italy. The owner responsiveness ensured for us a great first experience from the booking process and through out our stay. We would stay there again when we return to Rome.

Great apartment in a beautiful neighborhood

Guest: Nancy (San Francisco, CA)
Date of Stay: 06/09/11 Review Submitted: 07/10/11

This apartment is just as described. It is charming, sunny, and located close to the buses/ streetcar line. We have two children (10 and 12), and it was great for us to have some space to relax after a long day. The apartment had what we needed, and we really appreciated the wifi, laundry, and interesting art. Paolo was very responsive to my requests, which gave me peace of mind when booking an apartment in another country. The best thing about this apartment is the neighborhood. We enjoyed Rome, but we LOVED Trastevere! It was great to come back from a crazy day of seeing the sights, and have a great Piazza and delicious restaurants just a short walk away. We enjoyed the open air market in morning, and the street performers each evening in the Piazza. We always felt safe in this area. We would definitely stay in this apartment again.

Great Apartment

We stayed at this charming apartment in Oct., 2010. It was a short cab ride from the Trastevere train station(10 Euros). The building is situated on a quiet street and the apartment is located on the third floor. The apartment is well kept and appointed. Lots of space. The shower however is relatively small but very functional. For us the greatest advantage is that it is situated in a safe area. It is within easy walking distance to all the major sites, the many restaurants around Santa Maria where there is a truly exciting Rome experience waiting for you. Try the pizza shop on Via Di Trastevere across the street from the Ministero D. Pubblica. (yummy) We would like to thank Paolo as being very helpful, answering all our questions. I would stay here again if I ever got back to Rome. 3 Travellers from Canada

A friend and I stayed at this gem of an appartment in January 2010 and would highly recommend it. I wanted to stay on permanently! It is ideally situated, easy to get into the city centre but far enough out to enjoy a sense of relative space and tranquility. We even saw a green woodpecker from the appartment's window! Don't miss a walk up Gianicolo (Janiculum) hill- practically on the appartment's doorstep- for a wonderful panorama of the city. Thanks Paolo!

My 2 girlfriends and I stayed in this apartment and it was perfect for our needs. The neighborhood is pretty and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The bus routes and trams were easily accessible for getting around. Paolo was a great host. We would recommend this apartment to any one going to Rome. Hope to go back one day.

We stayed in this apartment for a week over the New Year's holiday and loved it. The apartment is located in a beautiful, quiet residential neighborhood. Transportation is easy with the tram close by that goes to Largo Argentina, where you can walk to most sites in Rome. There is also a bus that stops just up the street from the apartment that goes to the Colosseum and Termini. Though it was cold outside while we were there, the apartment was always comfortable and warm. Plenty of towels were provided and the beds were very comfortable. We packed light so loved having the washing machine to get some needed laundry done. There is no dryer but most clothes dried in a day on the drying rack. We used the Internet daily to communicate with home and look up info for our activities in Rome. While there are a number of nice restaurants to choose from just a short walk away, we sometimes prepared simple meals in the kitchen with produce from the nearby outdoor market and bread from a small bakery. Many shops are scattered around Trastevere and the supermarket on the lower level of Standa has a good selection of grocery items. We think that this apartment is a great place to stay while in Rome and highly recommend it. Hope to return some day.

We loved the charming apartment and the friendly host Paolo. Not far away from the sights, we always loved to come back to the pleasant atmosphere of Trastevere and the peaceful apartment. Equipped with all you need (e.g. dishwasher and satellite tv), it was our comfortable home during our short stay. Will come back again. Cheers,

The apartment descriptions are all right on the money. The real benefit to my girlfriend and I (we stayed a week) was Paolo. Paolo and his super cool roommate Carmine were some of the most fun people we have ever met on our many travels. Paolo speaks excellent English and made certain we were connected with all things to live like an Italian while we were in town. Yes, the sights are not super close, but at the end of the day it was always a pleasure to come home to the quiet and charm of Trastevere. We could have stayed a month easily in the apartment. If you want to live as a Roman lives, then give this place a shot.

We stayed at this beautiful apartment for two nights in August - it was far too short! The owner, Paolo was very helpful and gave us tips on how to get to the sights and good, non-touristy restaurants to go to. The apartment itself was very comfortable and furnished very nicely. It also had the benefit of a washing machine, cotbed for our baby, BBC news on satellite TV and internet connection. We hired a car and were able to park it for free very close to the apartment but since there is a tram and buses very close you don't need a car to explore Rome. We hope to visit again one day and definitely recommend this lovely apartment.

We sayed in the apartment for a week with my wife and two kids in the heat of the summer. The apartment was in a calm area, with a nice view to the park-like gardens in the backgroung. The AC worked great, but the building itself did not get too hot, even during the daytime. The sights of Rome are a long walk away, but there are multiple bus lines that pass a block away with great connections to the main sights. Paolo gave us great insider tips on the cool restaurants in the area, and we loved each and everyone of them. This was a real bonus. We loved the apartment, and would love to visit again.

We (my wife and me, two kids, and for a short time my mother in law) stayed in this apartment for a few weeks in June and loved it. The apartment is perfect for two or three and was fine for four but no more. It is quite comfortable and warm and very clean. The building and the street it is on are quiet and we quickly felt at home in Rome. We used the nearby buses and shops and became 'regulars' at the coffee shop at the end of the street. Our hosts were gracious and helpful (even giving us a cell phone to use) and a pleasure to talk too when we had a question or two. The apartment has high speed internet, which was a nice bonus. We hope not too many people chose to stay at the apartment because we want to go back. If I lived in Rome I would think I'd be happy living in this apartment. Cheers, D. Rocchio

This is a magical apartment in a wonderfully quiet location above Trastevere. It has beautiful views of a tropical courtyard and the faint sound of a fountain lulls you to sleep at night...or if you prefer, remote control AC can be used. It is within walking distance of great grocery stores, restaurants, wine bars and points of interest as well as convenient to public transportation. The apartment has all of the conveniences of home. I loved this place so much that I have already planned my next visit.
