The apartment is part of a new development within the area of the superb Jolly Harbour region on the south-west side of the island. All the amenities you could wish for are on your doorstep but so is peace and relaxation! Fabulous restaurants are nearby and O J's which is our favourite and right on the beach is a short drive away. Here we love to eat to the sound of the lapping ocean and watch the evening turn to inky-black night and see the stars twinkling above. It's great!
The apartment is one of a block of four in an exclusive new development within Jolly Harbour (forgive my English spelling) which is becoming known as 'the Venice of the Caribbean'.The apartmen is the left side upper story apartment and has superb traditional boarded ceilings that go right up into the roof giving a unique feeling of airiness and space. The kitchen, dining area and living area are all together in a gloriously spacious room that is lit by colonial style French doors and windows.
The original archaeological site here revealed the earliest settlement on the island, dating from 1775BC - which demonstrates that it's been a popular area for nearly 4,000 years! Now spread over 500 acres and home to Jolly Harbour the area accommodates the largest marina, golf and beach resort in the Caribbean. The beaches of the west coast are just a short distance away and the Old Road and Fig Tree Drive wind through the little Shekerly Mountains surrounded and covered by very good secondary rain forest.
We love exploring the island and meeting people and making purchases of food or gifts for folks back home. Peter is an enthusiastic photographer and has taken some wonderul pictures of natural subjects in the forest or on the beach. He's also now got quite a collection of the colourful and unique shanty houses that lie on the outskirts of St Johns as well as atmospheric pictures of neglected sugar factory ruins!
The apartment is ideal for couples or those with a small family. While close to all the amenities of Jolly Beach it is of a sufficient distance to be quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Shopping amenities and a laundromat are a short distance away. |
