Location: East End, USVI - St. Croix, Caribbean (3 mi. to Christiansted: restaurants, shops, galleries, etc.) View Map
Accommodations: Cottage, Studio + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-3)
Keywords: Condominium/Time Share
Set on a one-mile beach bordering a calm-water bay, this West Indian–style resort adjoins a nature/bird sanctuary. Historic Christiansted is three miles away.
Guests kayak to a nature-preserve island, snorkel off the beach, sunbathe around an infinity sea-view pool, and soak in a gazebo spa tub. The resort’s restaurant is right at the beach and probably the most beautiful/romantic setting on the island. The restaurant features live music twice a week. The separate bar area is also right at the beach.
Our cottage is a luxury studio, one-half of a two-unit building. The resort has the feeling of a little village with 35 small cottages in a lovely setting. We are on a low slope with a lovely covered porch facing flowering gardens with views of the ocean. One minute walk to our beach. Kitchenette with cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, pots and pans, etc. We have a terrific, covered porch where we read, paint, eat by candlelight, rock in the rocking chair, watch sunsets, etc.
What we love about Chenay Bay is the beautiful surroundings, the relaxed, quiet, friendly atmosphere. Children are welcome. Honeymoon couples are here often as well. Many people have been coming back for over ten years. If you want beaches right here at Chenay bay we have three beaches, each with their own character. At the resort a lovely beach (voted best beach on St. Croix by the Virgin Island Daily News)with palm trees, sun umbrellas, beach beds, and gazebos. It has never been crowded in the many years we have been here. Great for kids too. Adjacent to the left is a long beach with no development which borders the nature preserve. Great for walking and collecting shells. On the right is another very long beach with minimal development where you can walk for 1/2 hour or more.
A woman from Italy who has traveled the Carribean and the world came here for the first time recently and said (after driving around and checking out the other resorts on the island) that this place and this island are so delightful and relaxing that she wants to come back next year. I talked to a fellow coming home on the plane who came down to St. Croix for the first time to scuba dive. He said it was the best he had ever experienced.
There is so much to do on St. Croix. (Caribbean Travel and Life magazine features St. Croix as “the next hip Caribbean destination” in an 11-page feature spread in its November 2007 edition.) Chenay Bay is very conveniently located near Christiansted, a delightful small, historic city with interesting shops, art galleries, terrific restaurants, oceanside bars.

Chenay Bay-Small Boutique Resort, Amazing Beach, Ocean View
Year Purchased: 2000
Protected from high winds by a small island. Three lovely beaches. Two of them are undeveloped. You can walk for miles on the beach.
Owner's Map of East End
We first came to Chenay Bay in 2000 when we visited our son who opened and managed the Cape Air station at the airport. Chenay Bay was just starting to sell timeshares at that time. We found the low-key, quiet, atmosphere along with the beautiful beaches, flowers and trees so pleasant that we bought two weeks. Over the years since then we bought more weeks. The cottage we have is just right for us with it's lovely porch with ocean views and no other cottages behind us.

We enjoyed our stay at Chenay Bay very much. The cottage was very nice and met our needs. We really liked having the kitchen facilities. Bob and Sue always made sure we were happy and even provided some additional kitchen supplies (dish soap, paper towels, etc)to get us going. The beach and pool at Chenay Bay are beautiful. Kayaks, sunfish and snorkel gear are all available for guest use. Everyone we met there was very nice. We plan on visiting again!

We are returning in 2/08 for our second visit to this charming duplex. Its setting is quiet and private, with a beautiful beach view from the porch. We appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff, and we had access to interesting long walks. We enjoyed most of our meals at the resort restaurant, which served very nice food. All in all, St. Croix is absolutely charming, and we think Chenay Bay is a totally pleasant place with everything you need for a Caribbean escape.

Chenay Bay occupies a superb location on St.Croix offering delightful views at all times of the day and night. It has a wonderful private beach replete with lots of beach "toys" (sea kayaks, et.al.), a large pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts and a lovely outdoor restaurant/bar with good food and live music. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Christine Stewart Stewart International Travel Consultants

A nicely renovated half cottage, perfect for a couple. We had many breakfasts on the porch enjoying one of the best views on the Island. The restaurant in the complex has excellent food at reasonable prices. The friendly and casual atmosphere here makes for a relaxing vacation.

We spent ten days in this wonderful property in 2006, and enjoyed the apartment, the full facility, and the island immensely. The staff were very friendly and helpful; the food was excellent (and plentiful!) and the atmosphere was restful. We particularly enjoyed the waterfront activities-- boating, snorkeling, swimming, and taking a picnic in a kayak to a secluded island,. We would recommend this property for couples seeking a relaxing time away from the glitter and bustle, but close enough to good restaurants and shopping to enjoy a balanced and restful vacation.
Owner response:Just to clarify, the "apartment" is one half of a cottage, all on the ground level, with it's own private porch and entrance
