Set on a one-mile beach bordering a calm-water bay, this West Indian–style resort adjoins a nature/bird sanctuary. Historic Christiansted is three miles away.
Guests kayak to a nature-preserve island, snorkel off the beach, sunbathe around an infinity sea-view pool, and soak in a gazebo spa tub. The resort’s restaurant is right at the beach and probably the most beautiful/romantic setting on the island. The restaurant features live music twice a week. The separate bar area is also right at the beach.
Our cottage is a luxury studio, one-half of a two-unit building. We are on a low slope with a lovely covered porch facing flowering gardens with views of the ocean. One minute walk to our beach. Kitchenette with cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, pots and pans, etc. We have a terrific, covered porch where we read, paint, eat by candlelight, rock in the rocking chair, watch sunsets, etc.
What we love about Chenay Bay is the beautiful surroundings, the relaxed, quiet, friendly atmosphere. Children are welcome. Honeymoon couples are here often as well. Many people have been coming back for over ten years. If you want beaches right here at Chenay bay we have three beaches, each with their own character. At the resort a lovely beach with palm trees, sun umbrellas, and a beach bed in a gazebo. It has never been crowded in the many years we have been here. Great for kids too. Adjacent to the left is a long beach with no development which borders the nature preserve. Great for walking and collecting shells. On the right is another very long beach with minimal development where you can walk for 1/2 hour or more.
A woman from Italy who has traveled the Carribean and the world came here for the first time this February and said (after driving around and checking out the other resorts on the island) that this place and this island are so delightful and relaxing that she wants to come back next year. I talked to a fellow coming home on the plane who came down to St. Croix for the first time to scuba dive. He said it was the best he had ever experienced.
There is so much to do on St. Croix. (Caribbean Travel and Life magazine features St. Croix as “the next hip Caribbean destination” in an 11-page feature spread in its November 2007 edition.) Chenay Bay is very conveniently located near Christiansted, a delightful small, historic city with interesting shops, art galleries, terrific restaurants, oceanside bars. |
