WELCOME TO THE TAHOE OUTSIDE INN. As we often escape the confines of our city lifestyle to our much loved Tahoe retreat, we’ve spared no expense in creating this comfortable mountain get-away. From the tasteful furnishings to high-thread count linens and HDTVs in every bedroom, you won't be disappointed. Situated out of the trees in the North Lake Tahoe vacation home community of Tahoe Donner, our home is bright and sunny and the views of Northstar and the backside of Mt. Rose are incredible. Our winter guests will appreciate the fully-appointed kitchen, large dining area, and beautiful slate fireplace. Our summer guests will enjoy the large outdoor living area on the back deck, stainless steel four-burner tank-less natural gas barbeque grill on the front deck, and incredible wildlife observations from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the kitchen. Everyone will enjoy the open floor plan, knotty pine vaulted ceiling, and one of the finest hot tubs available (complete with seating for seven, variable lighting, and even a waterfall). So curl up by the fire with a good book, take a soak in the hot tub, or enjoy the many amenities that Tahoe Donner and the area have to offer.
MASTER BEDROOM AND PRIVATE MASTER BATH: The Comfy Queen Bed comes with a Memory Foam Mattress pad, High -Thread-Count cotton sheets, Fluffy Down Comforter, and a choice of soft or firm pillows. In addition to providing direct access to the rear deck and hot tub, the master bedroom's Large Sliding Glass Doors afford an excellent window to the back-yard wildlife from the comfort of your own bed (early risers will enjoy watching the deer consume our "deer proof" landscaping). Families with infants find plenty of room in the Master Suite to set up the Animal Time Pak-n-Play that comes with the house.
GUEST BEDROOM: As with the master bedroom, the guest bedroom also features a Comfy Queen Bed with easily removable Memory Foam Mattress pad, High Thread-Count cotton sheets, Fluffy Down Comforter, and a choice of soft or firm pillows. Larger families and groups will appreciate the sliding door separating the dual sinks in the front half of the bathroom from the toilet and shower/tub in the back half. In keeping with the mountain theme, the combination shower/tub is tastefully finished in natural slate. The functioning window provides plenty of natural light and crisp mountain air. As both bathrooms come with complimentary blow dryers, there's no need to pack your own. We also supply soap, shampoo, conditioners, and other toiletries (should you forget your own).

Why the Owner Chose Tahoe Donner
After viewing many houses in the Tahoe area, we immediately knew this was the perfect vacation home for us. Although we considered homes near the lakes (Tahoe and Donner), neither of these locations offered the views or numerous amenities of our home in Tahoe Donner - not to mention the fact a location on Lake Tahoe can easily add an hour or more to your drive. The amazing windows and view were what really sold us on this particular house. This home brings the outdoors to you from the comfort of your own living room! Since 2005, this home has been a labor of love for us, with countless remodeling/decorating projects and the transformation of the backyard into an amazing outdoor living space. We hope you'll enjoy the house as much as we do.
Located 5 minutes from Tahoe Donner's Clubhouse, featuring 3 heated pools, 3 hot tubs, dry and wet sauna, exercise facitilites, golf course, driving range, upscale restaurant, and much more...
Located less than five minutes from Tahoe Donner's downhill ski resort, featuring two chair lifts, restaurant, ski rental, etc.
Located two minutes from Tahoe Donner's Cross Country Center, which doubles as the Equestrian Center during the summer
My home is conveniently located near Alder Creek Road, which is Tahoe Donner's lesser known, less traveled alternative entrance. This is the best route to Old Town Truckee, Northstar Ski Resort, and
This is a logging road that locals use for some free cross country skiing. Located 1 minute from the house.
This beach is restricted to Tahoe Donner homeowners and their guests. My houseguests can enjoy this fantastic amenity with the guest passes that I provide. Rent a sailboat or kayak or just lounge in
Owner's Map of Tahoe Donner
Ken grew up 70 miles from Truckee, in the small town of Quincy. While he has lived and traveled many places, he is a homegrown Californian who loves nature, the outdoors and the mountains he once called home. Good cinematography is a critical component of any movie worth viewing for Ken. Rebecca is one of the many midwesterners who transplanted to California in her early 20's and fell in love with outdoor lifestyle (much to the dismay of her family back in Illinois, but fortunately they enjoy visiting her). Our passion for the outdoors led us to purchase this home in Truckee. And although our jobs keep us tied to our home base in San Francisco (Ken in corporate real estate finance, Rebecca in commercial interior design), we far prefer our time in Tahoe and spend many a weekend skiing, cycling, fly fishing, hiking and swimming or (more likely as of late) working on the house.

We stayed here the week before x-mas break with another family for an entire week. We had young kids ages 4-6 who had a wonderful time and learned how to ski. The house is exactly as described and the owners have thought of everything you could possibly need - from the bathrobes for the hot tub, to sleds in the garage, and a well stocked kitchen. After a week it felt like home for us and the kids. Would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for a nice winter getaway with kids.

Stayed here over Labor Day and really enjoyed the house. In the nicest part of Donner with great views to enjoy from well thought-out outdoor areas. And, as advertised, the kitchen has a nice open set-up and is stocked for cooks. Mountain biking and hiking trails almost right outside the doors, though for the most part we just lounged on the decks and took advantage of the beach club access. Photos and descriptions are truly representative of the property.

This house and the whole ambiance of the area are first rate. The large windows, panoramic vistas, accessibility of Tahoe Donner and all Lake Tahoe area attractions are suberb. My Wife and I both agree and could not imagine a better place to stay for a vacation. The spacious kitchen, bedrooms, outdoor front and rear patios and decks, in home entertainment amenities are all excellent. I had a great 50th birthday week of activity and relaxation. This is a "must-stay" place.

A perfect get a away. This property was in close proximity to another property we rented last year and it is hands down far superior. Ken and Rebecca obviously take great pride in their home and it shows. Their home is well appointed and extremely convienient to Tahoe Donner ski resort which is literally a five minute car ride away. I strongly recommend this property to families or couples, you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I invited both sets of our parents to Tahoe for Christmas this year (2010). Six of us stayed there comfortably. We were blessed with tons of early season snow, clear days and even 6" of fresh powder. The house was the hub of our many activities. We loved the location and it's proximity to the hills. We snowboarded at Northstar, Squaw Valley and Homewood. We snowshoed and cross country skiied at local trailheads (rentals were easy at the cross country shop in Tahoe Donner). Evenings were spent cooking big meals, lounging by the fire, playing dominoes and soaking our tired bones in the hot tub (under the stars). Ken was helpful in every way imaginable and gave us a great recommendation to the Cottonwood Restaurant for our last night dinner in Tahoe. Frankly, we didn't want to leave and would love to go again soon :)

Had a great time at the place & fully enjoyed all the amenities. The rooms & living spaces were very comfortable, well designed with access to the backyard deck area, tastefully decorated and something to look forward to after a day of activities. Nice spacious kitchen, dinner room and a gorgeous front deck with spectacular views that you will certainly enjoy. The hot tub in the backyard deck in winter with snow all-around was definitely a blast! Plenty of open space as well for snow-play for kids in the backyard as well. You'll have no regrets at this place.

We stayed here between Christmas and New Year's and truly enjoyed our stay. This is a lovely house that is perfectly located in Tahoe donner. There are beautiful views from the living room and dining room areas and the setting is just wonderful. It is a perfect house for around 6-7 people and the kitchen is very well stocked with pots, pans and other cooking essentials. There are a lot of nice touches in the home (heated floors in the master bath, bathrobes, nice linens) that make the stay worthwhile. I highly recommend this property.

We just returned from skiing tons of snow (Alpine Meadows, North Star, Squaw Valley). After skiing we had a great time in this wonderful mountain home: great views from the deck (especially at dusk), spend a lot of quality time in the kitchen , relaxed in the hot tub, chilled out, after dinner, with our friends. The house was well equipped and clean and we had great communication with the owner. We would definitely recommend this to our friends and family. To end with a famous quote of a californian citizen; 'We'll be back!'

You are going to love this place! It was perfect place for my family (2Adults, 2Kids) to meet up with my brothers family (2Adults,2 Kids) Everything about the house was wonderful. The owner has obviously put a lot of time and effort into making this a first rate experience all around. Not only is the house great but he provided us with extensive information about the Tahoe area that made our trip all the more relaxing. We would highly recommend this house to anyone planning a stay in the area.
