The apartment building
It is situated half a block from the Seine and there's a Vélib station right next to it. The Metro (Ligne 5) is exactly one stop away from Ligne 1 (which takes you through the Marais, the Louvre, the Rue de Rivoli, the Champs-Elysées, Arc de Triomphe, etc.) and one stop away from Ligne 10 (which takes you to the 5th and Odéon and St. Germain des Près ... all the way to Boulogne). Plus Ligne 5 takes you directly to the Gare du Nord (and Gare de l'Est), as well as to the Place d'Italie, which is a great center for Chinese and Thai food. There are tons of cafés around.
The apartment
Overlooking the Seine and the Yachting Harbour of Paris or "Port de l'Arsenal", where a number of diverse types of boats are moored, the 90 sqm two-bedroom apartment is a few steps from the historical Place de la Bastille where you find the Opera de Paris. Boulevard de la Bastille faces the nautical entrance to the Canal St-Martin and all the waterways that connect it to Paris and the Seine.
The "Port de l'Arsenal" is a *marina* in the heart of the city, really charming in a Parisian way and a wonderful place to walk, jog, have a café, picnic: there's even a park for young children there. Enjoy a cruise on Canal Saint-Martin leaving at the foot of the apartment ! Another wonderful green space nearby is the "Coulée Verte" above the Viaduc des Arts that was featured in a recent film starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke.
The most central location in Paris
Within a short walking distance is the Royal Place des Vosges, the Marais, the Ile Saint Louis, the Picasso Museum, the Maison Rouge (latest modern art museum to open in Paris), art galleries, the “Rue de Lappe” and its many ethnic restaurants and pubs,
If you walk across the Austerlitz Bridge you find yourself directly in the 5th arrondissement with the Jardin des Plantes and its zoo (great fun for children), the Latin Quarter and its Open Air Sculpture museum.
When you arrive from Charles de Gaulle-Roissy airport, board RER B (regional fast train) stop at Gare du Nord. Hop onto line 10, in the direction of Place d'Italie for 8 stations; stop at Quai de la Râpée: the apartment is 25m away. It is also very close to 3 other metro lines and many bus routes taking you all over Paris. There are even direct buses from Roissy to Gare de Lyon!
For those who come to Paris on business, they will be close to RER A that crosses the whole of Paris up to the area of La Defense (in 20 minutes). You may want to go further afield to Versailles (via Gare d'Austerlitz), or Euro-Disney (via Gare de Lyon)! Ditto if you are using Paris as a base for exploring Europe, board a train from Gare de Lyon to go to the South of France, Italy, and Switzerland, from Gare du Nord (8 stations away) to go to Central London in exactly 2 hours.
Vacation Rental Amenities
A superb view is THE PLUS of the functional and entirely refurbished apartment located on the 6th floor of a late 19th century building (elevator, interphone security, concierge, armored door). It is full of English-language books and videos: children are more than welcome. With two south-facing windows looking over the Paris Yachting Harbour, the river Seine, the Pantheon and two east-facing rear windows looking over the private garden and a row of 19th century buildings the apartment is light, sunny and extremely quiet. But the best about it is that at night you will enjoy the unforgettable view on sparkling Eiffel Tower every hour for 10 minutes on the hour.
Another plus: this building has a real garden out back, which is fairly rare in Paris.
The apartment has two large bedrooms with ample storage space, one with a kingsize bed, the other with two twin beds transformable into a kingsize. The sofa in the living room transforms into a kingsize bed (rare in Paris) with a wonderfully firm mattress. All the beds are new, extra-firm and of prime quality. Central heating and reversible air-conditioning in all rooms, linen provided, towels provided, 4 ring stove, clothes dryer, dishwasher, freezer, fridge, microwave, oven, washing machine, fireplace, seating for 6 people, dining room seating for 6 people, 1 full bathroom with large Italian shower and additionaltoilet, plus second separate toilet, audio tape player, CD, DVD player,VCR, radio, stereo system, 2 TV sets (one with flat screen), video library for kids, lots of books in all sorts of languages, unlimited broadband internet access, wifi, garage (2 spaces), absolutely non smoking, pets not allowed, wheelchair inaccessible.
On a practical note, very near there are ATMs, inexpensive restaurants, small supermarkets, including the farmers' markets on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays where fresh local produce can be bought.
Vacation Rental Rates
Prices are for the apartment per week in euros all included.
Extra maid service and baby-sitting can be arranged. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required on booking (Paypal, wire).
Balance payable cash on arrival as well as a 1,000€ fully-refundable security deposit against damage (by check, in cash, in euros or in your own currency). The deposit is returned when the two sets of keys are handed back, provided you return the apartment in the same immaculate state as you received it and provided you do not smoke. If smoking occurs, the deposit will be kept in whole.
Regular changeover day is Saturday in season. We will accommodate other check-in dates where possible. Check-in normally 1pm, but if we can, we try to accommodate guests arriving on overnight flights from North America.

Beautiful Flat, Wonderful Location!

We just completed a 6-might girl's trip to Paris, and can't say enough good things about this apartment, the owner and our great experience. Paris is always wonderful, but renting this flat simply made the trip. All the representations/pictures are accurate, althougn they don't really do justice to this turn-of-the-century apartment, which has been beautifully updated. The location is perfect for walking in the Marias, to the Isle St. Louis and Notre Dame and to the left bank. It is situated right across the street from a metro station, making access anywhere very convenient. We took advantabe of several very helpful suggestions from the owner -- including booking a day trip with a guide she recommened, and shuttle service from the airport. The apartment amenitites were excellent -- air conditioning in all the main living spaces, very comfortable beds, a great bathroom/shower set up and a washer/dryer in the kitchen. There is a bakery right around the corner and a Carre Four market store right around another corner. We loved coming home in the evening, drinking wine and talking about our day while looking out the window at the Eiffel tower and pinching ourselves about how lucky we were to have found such a great place to stay. We definitely hope to come back, sooner rather than later.

Hello Catherine, How lucky that I stumbled upon the information about your rental apartment. It is absolutely perfect for a visit in Paris and the Eiffel Tower at night is simply" icing on the cake"! What wonderful memories we have. If you have the information, I would like the web site or address of the fabric shop that carries the material you used for curtains.I might have an opportunity to look at the shop because I will be in Paris with my husband October1 -6. On that note, your studio is rented for that period of time, but do you know of a one bedroom apartment or studio in that general area that I might check for availability? My older grandaughter has enjoyed telling that I wouldn't allow your son to enter the building with us. It is a funny story, but caution is also of value. Thank you so much for everything! Remember us if you are ever in Charleston. Regards, Donna

Hello Catherine, We have arrived home safe and sound, and we just wanted to take a moment to say how much we loved staying in your apartment during our visit to Paris. The location was wonderful with easy access to the BatoBus river taxi which was our preferred mode of travel to all of the points of interest within the city. The apartment was like a home away from home, and your hospitality was so very much appreciated. We will not hesitate to recommend this lovely apartment to our friends who may be planning a visit to Paris. Once again, thank you for everything. Kind Regards Chris & Tony

Dear Catherine, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you once again for making our stay in Paris so very wonderful! We were absolutely comfortable in your apartment and felt we were returning "home" at the end of every day. The amazing view of Le Tour Eiffel was more wonderful that we could have imagined and really pulled us to the window the first thing each morning with our coffee and last thing in the evening with our glass wine: wonderful bookends to each day in Paris. I also wanted to tell you that Bryce's sword was perfectly packed and arrived safe and sound in Denver. Thank you so very, very much for that extra kindness of packaging his treasure for him; it was exceptionally kind of you and we deeply appreciate it. We hope to return someday soon, and if we do, we will certainly contact you for another delightful stay in your lovely apartment. With appreciation, Julene

Catherine: Just a note to once again thank you for your hospitality and for sharing your beautiful apartment with us. We returned uneventfully to the U.S. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in Paris, including the location and amenities of your apartment. Also, as I mentioned when we parted, I especially appreciated your responsiveness to our requests and the clarity of the information you provided when we rented the apartment. Your attention to detail in the care of your apartment as well as related to the transaction of the rental agreement were most welcome. I hope we will have the chance to return to Paris one day and to stay in your apartment again. Merci! Richard

This property met all our expectations and more... It was spacious, modern, in a great location and quiet. An added plus was that the owner lived in the same building on the floor below and was most responsive to our questions and needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would go back in a heartbeat. Truly a great find!

Our first stay in Paris was unforgettable! My family and I were travelling to France for my brother's wedding. For most of us it was our first trip to France and Bastille. That apartment made it an unforgettable experience. My parents had been to Paris before and were a little nervous and skeptical about the apartment rental. They were more than thrilled with the accomodations, location, modern ammenities, and overall experience! I have already given the website information to a co-worker looking to travel to Paris as well as my Executive Director since it was such a wonderful experience. Thank you for making this memorable occasion all the better!

"Excellent venue for a family" "We really enjoyed staying in this stylish appartment. There was enough space for two couples with kids, the appartment was extremely clean and well maintained and the view was magnificent. We had everything we needed to feel real parisians for a week - as if we were at home there, and a good piece of advice from the owner on local life was very helpful. The location made it easy to explore the city - you have a variety of options for getting around: many things are within walking distance (10-15 minutes with the kids) and a metro station is just around the corner, so is the train station - Gare du Lion (to go to Disney parks and the outlet village). We also used batobus, which stops across the bridge. Velib bike rental, which was 5 minutes walk from the appartment was very tempting but we did not risk it with the kids. I can strongly recommend this appartment for families with kids not only for the space and location but also for the safelty, quietness and a great variety of books, games and movies in different languages, that it offered. The owner provided very helpful information on the area and was very friendly and supportive. The fully equiped kitchen (3 types of coffee makers!) made it a real pleasure to cook. The supermarket, which was 15 minutes walk from the appartment had great variety of products but we also enjoyed visiting the local open-air market and boulangeri in the morning for fresh croisants and pastry. We do hope to come back there for a longer period."

Dear Catherine Would just like to let you know that we had a fabulous time in Paris last week in your apartment and can thoroughly recommend it. The position was very central to everything and the Metro within close proximity to the apartment as you said. The view of the Eiffel tower from the apartment window was lovely especially at midnight when it sparkled. We managed to see all the great places of interest the Louvre,Effiel Tower, Acr De triumph ,Versaille and a lovely village called Verdun, and many more. Once again thank you for all your help and information prior to our vist and hopefully will vist again in the not too distant future. Best wishes Margaret & Keith and family
