Everything was great. There were so many great benefits renting an apartment, especially this one had a great view of the Seine. We loved watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle every night before going to bed. Carrefour Market around the corner was very nice to have close. The property manager was helpful when we asked questions or needed anything. We had a good location with great access to metro Quai de la Râpée (line 5) that goes directly to Place d'Italie, Gare d'Austerlitz, Bastille, Oberkampf, République, Gare de l'Est, and Gare du Nord. We could also walk to the Bastille (5 min) where you could catch the lines 1, 5 and 8. The apartment was clean and very tastefully decorated. Wonderful mattresses, high end linens, and a computer and printer as well. It was so nice to feel like you are in a home away from home! I would stay again and have recommended it to others already. If you do plan to rent during the time the lift is being replaced, be aware there are 118 stairs. It was much steeper than we anticipated but we became quite use to the climb as we worked off all the calories we consumed for lunch & dinner. Thank you, Catherine, for giving us a comfortable two weeks in Paris!

Owner response: Note to future renters : We now have a brand new elevator and everything is back to normal. No worry about that !

Location is perfect for a Paris holiday. Convenient location for walking, biking, hoping on the Seine boat tours or taking the metro/train. Lots of restraints near by, a delicious bakery and a market just around the corner. Apartment was set up nicely, extremely clean and a nice size. The pictures are a good representation. All the amenities listed were available and more. The view of the Eiffel Tower was a treat. Catherine was very helpful leading up to and throughout our trip. I would recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a "home" in Paris rather than staying at a hotel.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: You are most welcome, Jeff. We have learned from our guests and know what they like now. Kind regards. Catherine

We spent five nights at the apartment in early August and left very satisfied. The primary appeal of the apartment is that it offers more for the money due to a slightly offbeat location. The apartment is on the razor's edge of the charming 4th and the more utilitarian 12th. The nearby Bastille district and boat harbor to the west are lovely, while the area immediately to the east, by Gares Lyon and Austerlitz, is rather grimy and utilitarian. The nearby metro station seemed to be a hangout for unsavory characters and nighttime riders should be alert to their surroundings. Also, Line 5 is not that useful for tourists, with its N-S orientation, except as a connecting vehicle to other lines. There is no hyperbole or overstatement in the description. The apartment feels like a cross between an apartment hotel and a residence. There are enough used books and videos and bric a brac to make it feel lived in, but not so much to make you feel like you are staying in someone's home. The beds are comfortable and the linens are high quality. The kitchen is well-equipped, and some, but not all, of the appliances are new. Bathrooms are excellent, though as we ran low on soap and tp, we were never clear on were we to supply our own or ask for resupply. There is a volume of advice left for guests, which is helpful and informative, especially since we did not meet Madame Asquier in person during our stay (she was out of town) and dealt exclusively with her housekeeper, whose English is limited. Other high points are views of the Eiffel Tower from the large windows, the good wi-fi, air conditioning, and quality appliances, and an owner focused on responsiveness and professionalism Negatives are mostly small: The apartment, though clean, is a bit rough around the edges in spots--some wear here, some nicks there. The closets, full of ill-matching hangers, cheapens the effect, as does toweling stuffed in a ventilation duct in one of the bathrooms, and the utilitarian folding chairs which constitute seating in some rooms. The use of a bed/futon as the sofa in the living room is not optimal for seating and we tended to avoid using that room as a consequence. Arriving with much luggage is an ordeal due to the tiny elevator and attendant weight restrictions, and six flights of stairs are not always a welcome alternate. Guests should know they will be asked to tidy the apartment before departure. Enjoy Paris!

Owner response: Just a few things: 1) Our metro station is extremely safe but because of the financial crisis more people are sleeping on the streets all over Paris, which does not make the streets more unsafe. 2) An apartment is not a hotel: we provide toiletries, toilet paper, washing tablets for both the washer and the dish-washer. When they run out it is up to our guests to supply their own.

If you are looking for a wonderful Parisian apartment that is comfortable, stylish, equipped with modern and well functioning appliances, extremely clean, conveniently located, quiet, and that has a spectacular view, then you’ve found it! Our family stayed here for two weeks and every single thing went smoothly. It was a pleasure. We saw Paris mainly by foot, but used the Metro a block away when it rained and the train station for day trips. Everything is convenient to the apartment. Even the supermarket is only a few blocks away. After a long day of sight seeing, it was a pleasure to cook in a well equipped kitchen, and to dine in view of the sparking Eiffel Tower. Our children kicked back with a movie or an internet game on the computer. Everyone had space and a cozy, inviting bed. The owner is professional, non-intrusive, accommodating and quite helpful from the first contact. Her conscientious efforts, with the big and the little things, guarantee a comfortable stay.

We just completed a 6-might girl's trip to Paris, and can't say enough good things about this apartment, the owner and our great experience. Paris is always wonderful, but renting this flat simply made the trip. All the representations/pictures are accurate, althougn they don't really do justice to this turn-of-the-century apartment, which has been beautifully updated. The location is perfect for walking in the Marias, to the Isle St. Louis and Notre Dame and to the left bank. It is situated right across the street from a metro station, making access anywhere very convenient. We took advantabe of several very helpful suggestions from the owner -- including booking a day trip with a guide she recommened, and shuttle service from the airport. The apartment amenitites were excellent -- air conditioning in all the main living spaces, very comfortable beds, a great bathroom/shower set up and a washer/dryer in the kitchen. There is a bakery right around the corner and a Carre Four market store right around another corner. We loved coming home in the evening, drinking wine and talking about our day while looking out the window at the Eiffel tower and pinching ourselves about how lucky we were to have found such a great place to stay. We definitely hope to come back, sooner rather than later.

Hello Catherine, How lucky that I stumbled upon the information about your rental apartment. It is absolutely perfect for a visit in Paris and the Eiffel Tower at night is simply" icing on the cake"! What wonderful memories we have. If you have the information, I would like the web site or address of the fabric shop that carries the material you used for curtains.I might have an opportunity to look at the shop because I will be in Paris with my husband October1 -6. On that note, your studio is rented for that period of time, but do you know of a one bedroom apartment or studio in that general area that I might check for availability? My older grandaughter has enjoyed telling that I wouldn't allow your son to enter the building with us. It is a funny story, but caution is also of value. Thank you so much for everything! Remember us if you are ever in Charleston. Regards, Donna

Hello Catherine, We have arrived home safe and sound, and we just wanted to take a moment to say how much we loved staying in your apartment during our visit to Paris. The location was wonderful with easy access to the BatoBus river taxi which was our preferred mode of travel to all of the points of interest within the city. The apartment was like a home away from home, and your hospitality was so very much appreciated. We will not hesitate to recommend this lovely apartment to our friends who may be planning a visit to Paris. Once again, thank you for everything. Kind Regards Chris & Tony

Catherine: Just a note to once again thank you for your hospitality and for sharing your beautiful apartment with us. We returned uneventfully to the U.S. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in Paris, including the location and amenities of your apartment. Also, as I mentioned when we parted, I especially appreciated your responsiveness to our requests and the clarity of the information you provided when we rented the apartment. Your attention to detail in the care of your apartment as well as related to the transaction of the rental agreement were most welcome. I hope we will have the chance to return to Paris one day and to stay in your apartment again. Merci! Richard

Dear Catherine, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you once again for making our stay in Paris so very wonderful! We were absolutely comfortable in your apartment and felt we were returning "home" at the end of every day. The amazing view of Le Tour Eiffel was more wonderful that we could have imagined and really pulled us to the window the first thing each morning with our coffee and last thing in the evening with our glass wine: wonderful bookends to each day in Paris. I also wanted to tell you that Bryce's sword was perfectly packed and arrived safe and sound in Denver. Thank you so very, very much for that extra kindness of packaging his treasure for him; it was exceptionally kind of you and we deeply appreciate it. We hope to return someday soon, and if we do, we will certainly contact you for another delightful stay in your lovely apartment. With appreciation, Julene

This property met all our expectations and more... It was spacious, modern, in a great location and quiet. An added plus was that the owner lived in the same building on the floor below and was most responsive to our questions and needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would go back in a heartbeat. Truly a great find!

Our first stay in Paris was unforgettable! My family and I were travelling to France for my brother's wedding. For most of us it was our first trip to France and Bastille. That apartment made it an unforgettable experience. My parents had been to Paris before and were a little nervous and skeptical about the apartment rental. They were more than thrilled with the accomodations, location, modern ammenities, and overall experience! I have already given the website information to a co-worker looking to travel to Paris as well as my Executive Director since it was such a wonderful experience. Thank you for making this memorable occasion all the better!

"Excellent venue for a family" "We really enjoyed staying in this stylish appartment. There was enough space for two couples with kids, the appartment was extremely clean and well maintained and the view was magnificent. We had everything we needed to feel real parisians for a week - as if we were at home there, and a good piece of advice from the owner on local life was very helpful. The location made it easy to explore the city - you have a variety of options for getting around: many things are within walking distance (10-15 minutes with the kids) and a metro station is just around the corner, so is the train station - Gare du Lion (to go to Disney parks and the outlet village). We also used batobus, which stops across the bridge. Velib bike rental, which was 5 minutes walk from the appartment was very tempting but we did not risk it with the kids. I can strongly recommend this appartment for families with kids not only for the space and location but also for the safelty, quietness and a great variety of books, games and movies in different languages, that it offered. The owner provided very helpful information on the area and was very friendly and supportive. The fully equiped kitchen (3 types of coffee makers!) made it a real pleasure to cook. The supermarket, which was 15 minutes walk from the appartment had great variety of products but we also enjoyed visiting the local open-air market and boulangeri in the morning for fresh croisants and pastry. We do hope to come back there for a longer period."

Dear Catherine Would just like to let you know that we had a fabulous time in Paris last week in your apartment and can thoroughly recommend it. The position was very central to everything and the Metro within close proximity to the apartment as you said. The view of the Eiffel tower from the apartment window was lovely especially at midnight when it sparkled. We managed to see all the great places of interest the Louvre,Effiel Tower, Acr De triumph ,Versaille and a lovely village called Verdun, and many more. Once again thank you for all your help and information prior to our vist and hopefully will vist again in the not too distant future. Best wishes Margaret & Keith and family

"Amazing view and perfect location" "Our family of 4 was thrilled with our stay at the apartment. The view was spectacular (Seine, Seine Boat Basin, Pantheon, Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower), and we raced home every night to catch the hourly sparkling lights on the Eiffel Tower. Two Metro stations are within a five minute walk, as is the train to Versaille, but our favorite activity was riding the Velib rental bikes along the banks of the Seine--a five minute ride from the house. The apartment is clean, well-stocked and organized, and the beds are extremely comfortable. The bedrooms are VERY quiet, which is much appreciated after a busy day of sight-seeing. Their are many cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood, and we especially enjoyed walking in the Marais and buying groceries at the local street market. The elevator is small, but it's part of the charm of the beautiful, old building. We would definitely consider renting this apartment again."

The apartment was large and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. And everything we could think of was there for us. They don't mention that they also provide towels, robes, toiletries, and slippers. It was great to have a washing machine so we could bring fewer clothes too (although it took a bit of finagling to figure out how to use it in French). The internet worked well (except for one night). They just put in air conditioners which did come in handy one night. (May 2009)

Nicely located on the port d/ arsenal you overlook the marina -but are in walking distance to bastille, le marais and the jardin des plantes. Our stay in Paris (too short!) We stayed at this lovely apartment for 5 nights. We chose this due to the view and a good location for the price. We'd never been to Paris before, so we weren't sure what to expect. Luckily, the apartment was just as described, or actually it was better. Location-once I got the lay of the land, and figured out how to use the Metro, it was easy easy to get around. Although there is a Metro station right across the street, we found that walking to the Bastille station was better since it had more lines. There are some cafe's and shops around although it was more of a residential area. The view was beautiful, every night we watched the Eiffel tower light up. The apartment had big windows you could open for air, however, we did hear the Metro and traffic quite a bit. But we got used to it right away. Prudence NJ ( May 2009)

Located at junction of Seine and Canal St Martin with views across to Notre Dame, Eifel Tower, Montparnasse Tower, Pantheon from the main room, and views from the bedrooms across the roof tops to Gare de Lyon. Situated on the top (6th) floor of an elegant apartment block which has a two person lift to all floors. The property is comfortably furnished and can accommodate six people by converting the settee into a double bed. We were a family of four with two girls of 12 and 14 sharing the second bedroom and found everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The apartment was very clean and tidy and provided with fresh flowers upon arrival. Catherine met us at the door and showed us around and explained how to operate the appliances and how the recycling system works. Catherine and all of the other people in the block that we met were polite and friendly. The kitchen is well provided with appliances, but the oven is part of a multi-function microwave and too small to contemplate any real cooking - but this is Paris, and there are plenty restaurants within a few minutes walk. Recycling is taken seriously in Paris and there is good provision for separating glass, paper, plastics, tins, from waste - in addition there is a compost bin so there is little excuse for not joining in and doing your bit to help the planet. The use of a broadband internet connection allowing us to stay in touch via e-mail and MSN was excellent. Watching the Eifel Tower sparkle for a few minutes every hour while sitting in your own living room is a memory we will keep with us for some time. Out and about, we'd recommend the Musee de la Orangerie and the Pompidou Centre for a wide spectrum of art. The Jardin des Plantes just across the river for the cherry blossom and other flowers - plus the Menagerie for an eclectic mix of zoo animals of which the red pandas and the orang utans were our favourites. With the metro (Quai de la Rapee) at the end of the road you have access to all areas of Paris within a few minutes, but we enjoyed just walking along to the islands in the Seine and soaking up the Parisian atmosphere from one of the cafes or a park bench near the Notre Dame. We look forward to returning to Paris in due course and we'd recommend Catherine's apartment as a super centre for your stay.

The apartment was perfect for our needs- fantastic location, really just steps away from the metro; so clean and functional; lots of great books and videos for our young kids that we used almost daily; the shopping cart was so helpful for our trip to the Bastille Market and your maps of the bakery and grocery stores were great! We loved your big dining table with the spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower. Also, working with you has been a pleasure- you have always been so quick in responding.

A wonderful place to stay Date of Stay: Oct 2007 We only stayed at this apartment for 4 nights because of work obligations, but I can truly say that if I could have, I would have stayed for weeks, months, or even years. We travel a lot and like to stay at apts. instead of hotels and this is certainly one of the best I've been in. It's large, impeccably clean, has all the amenities/conveniences you could as for (washer, dryer, more pots & pans than we have at home, closet space, tons of books & videos in differnt languages and even a new, flat-screen TV!!!), modern but in an old, beautiful building, and in a perfect location. There's lots to see & do in walking distance plus the metro and boat lines are just minutes away. We got tickets to use the boat for 2 days. It does a circular route with stops at all the important, central neighborhoods and sights and is much nicer than being underground. Being on the top floor, it is quiet. And the view is spectacular. Catherine, the owner, is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. When you get there she gives you a map of the entire neighborhood and points out all the grocery stores plus givs you a list of many different types of restaurants in all price ranges. All the ones we went to were very good to excellent. I would sincerely recommend this apartment to anyone (did I mentions it's very kid-friendly) and plan on staying there the next time I visit Paris.

I wanted to thank you for your wonderful apartment and the incredible service you offer. There is not one thing that we can think of that we needed there and could not find. We both feel that the highlight of our whole overseas trip was walking into the apartment and realising that it was even better than we had expected. For us, sitting at the dinner table and watching the Eiffel Tower sparkling was unforgettable. For all international travellers to Paris a view of the tower from your accommodation is the most valued view, but from your apartment it is only one of the many famous landmarks we could see.We will know very shortly the dates we will be in Paris in 2007 so I will contact you as soon as possible to make a booking. Once again thank you, Heather, Australia.(Spring 2006)

We just wanted to let you know how very much we enjoyed our stay in your apartment last week. The views were magnificent, it was wonderful to look out at the Eiffel Tower twinkling while we ate our dinner. We were extremely cosy and comfortable and the children really appreciated the ample supply of English books and videos. We really had a wonderful experience, thank you so much and we hope to book again in the future. Kind regards, Kevin, Shirley, Chloe, Adam and Emily (February 2007)

We all enjoyed our holiday in Paris tremendously. There were many reasons for the success of our holiday but one of them was surely the comfort, pleasure and convenience of your flat. The holiday in Paris was a wonderful time for us – it set a very high standard for future holidays that will be hard to beat. Once again thank you very much.Best wishes to you and your family, Peter, Mira, Mica and Keren (Sydney, November 2006)

" The location was fabulous..the apartment felt just like home within 15 minutes of arriving.....our landlady was very friendly and helpful, but unobtrusive...the price was very good value... what else can I tell you...we would book there again in a heartbeat! "Tom, Canada. (Spring 2006)

Luckily we found an apartment that had the most enchanting view of the city...The view is spectacular ! The location and conveniences provided are very good ! It seems that you have"thought everything through" very well and have tried to provide everything anyone could need. Thank you! I think you are doing a very good job of providing exceptional service ! I was very pleased that the apartment and described amenities were exactly as promised, sometimes even better ! This is usually not the case in life and was such a nice surprise!Sadia,Canada.(2005)
