McNeil Cottage is a two bedroom, live-in, furnished cottage (except sheets and towels) that sleeps four to six comfortably. Nestled in a cove insulated from most water traffic it is great for water play, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, boating, water skiing or building sand castles on its modest beach area. The lake side of the cottage has large windows for unobstructed views of the lake (including spectacular sunsets) with a large wrap-around deck for lounging enjoyment.
The lake is clean with sandy bottom and supports a variety of fish and fowl and is large enough that all types of water sports and crafts can be enjoyed.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
The lake is large, beautiful and supports all water related activities. The sunsets are to dye for and the ambience is "On Golden Pond". Due partly to the fact that we are unplugged and that natures wonders surround us, it is much like taking a step backwards in time, shedding the stresses of todays world and simply finding joy in watching a family of Swans meandering about or a crayfish playing hide & seek at the waters edge or loosing yourself in a good book while the sunset dances on your face. It is truely a world away from the hustle bustle, fast paced world in which we live. It is a place that we love!

I (Randy) am an audio & lighting production contractor/engineer and my wife (Sheila) is a family services worker in Traverse City, Michigan. The cottage has been in the family since the mid seventies and we aquired it in 1995. Since then our family has enjoyed and so much looked forward to our time spent at the McNeil Cottage each and every year, and urge anyone looking for a relaxing, unplugged vacation on one of the most beautiful lakes in Michigan to try Lake Leelanau and the McNeil Cottage.

My mom had rented out this cottage for our first ever Labor Day weekend vacation with our family. We had a wonderful time and found it very hard to leave. The cottage itself was very nice and well maintained. The property is beautiful and the lake is huge! I would definately come back. I miss it already! Hopefully we have found a new family tradition.
