The cottage is lovely and very quiet. It sits on a bluff overlooking the sea with a spectacular view--they write up was not exaggerating about this. The town of Half Moon Bay is very laid back and charming. We look forward staying there again at some point.

We really enjoyed this place. I think its perfect for a 3 to 7 day west coast getaway. We were very relaxed during our stay. You could not be any closer to the ocean! The surrounding citys are nice for day trips and that stretch of highway 1 is beautiful. The owners were very nice. We highly recommend this place!

Well what can I say? I've been visiting "My Cottage by the sea" two to three times a year since October 2008.In my travels I've stayed at many wonderful places around the world, but this is the one place to which I continually return. Whenever I need to realign my body, mind and soul, this is the place I go. It is magic!

My husband and I stayed here for a relaxing, long weekend. The property is beautiful and the view and location could not be better. The property owners were friendly and helpful. The cottage is comfortable and the owners decorated as if we were staying in a 5 star hotel. This 'little cottage' is the perfect get away retreat!

My wife and I have been going to Half Moon Bay for new years eve for the last 7 years now. We have stayed everywhere up and down the coast looking for the perfect spot. And now we have found it! We rented both cabins with some friends of ours and it was perfect as they are next door to one another. The price is very reasonable for what you get. The view, the outside fire place EVERYTHING was perfect. Don't worry about bringing a thing as the kitchens are fully stocked with just about anything and everything you could possibly need to cook. I will defiantly be back and very much look forward to it. Byron

My husband and I just came from a wonderful two-night stay at this cottage-by-the-sea in Moss Beach. All I can say is Wow! With beautiful views, privacy and a warm welcome, it was exactly what we were looking for in planning a get-away for our 18th anniversary. Although the property is pretty close to an additional cottage, the owners have done a remarkable job in assuring total privacy if that's what you're looking for. This property can be enjoyed by a couple seeking private, romantic alone-time or possibly together with another couple renting out the second cottage for a lovely vacation with friends. The photos are more than accurate, and as a matter of fact, the actual rental went beyond our expectations. It was clean, great decor, clearly well taken care of and phone numbers (owner's) were provided in case there was anything else we needed. Nearby activities include a Marine Preserve with beach and hiking access. The Distillery restaurant (within walking distance) was fantastic as was Sam's Chowder House a few miles back towards Half Moon Bay. The owners even provided a short book detailing the history of the area and their property which was fun to read and learn about. We will surely be back for another visit, and might even make it a tradition of some sort. I HIGHLY recommend this property for anyone looking for a retreat from the hustle and bustle of life, looking for breathtaking views and a chance to indulge and recharge!

Great Little Bungalow with Awsome Views and Sounds of the Ocean. The king size bed was comfy, and everything was clean and well stocked. Jerome & Carol are very personable and helpful with any needs. In a great area that has quick access to San Francisco or any of the quaint Coastal towns along Highway One. Bring some wading shoes or boots to to check out the tide pools, which are only a few steps away! I would recommend to anyone looking to Get Away from it All, a Romantic week or weekend & total relaxation. Thanks for Everything!

Thank you sooo much for providing such a beautiful place to get away for the "daily grind". I came here to celebrate my birthday and recharge my spirit in on of my most favorite places on the planet. Little did I know I would be waking up to a Tsunami warning the next day! I stayed to watch the waves and best of all, my sister came to join me unexpectedly for another night. This was one of my BEST Birthdays EVER!!! I will recommend this to my friends and family and will definitely be back with my husbancd for a romantic getaway. Thanks Again, Peace..

I rented this as a surprise birthday night for my sweetheart. It covered all of the senses: the smell of the ocean, the sounds of the waves, the vast view from the backyard, the touch of the quality furnishings inside and the taste of dinner for two in the perfectly furnished kitchen. Romantic, sweet, serene... We will be back!

Over the last two years I have stayed at this cottage by the sea six times. It has become my healing home away from home. I have fallen absolutely in love with this magical place. The ocean waves crashing on the rocks below lulls you to sleep at night and is the first thing you hear and see when you wake up in the morning. It is the most romantic, peaceful and healing place I have even stayed. The owners are always gracious and accommodating.

The ocean front cottage in Moss Beach is a beautiful location. It's completely separate from the rest of the property, allowing for privacy, and in fact guests have the run of the yard on a bluff overlooking the ocean. The fog comes and goes from Moss Beach, but either in sunshine or clouds, it's a perfect spot to relax and enjoy that exceptional part of the California coast. Because the area appears to be a popular spot for people coming from San Francisco or San Jose (we came UP the coast rather than down), the restaurants are fantastic. Highway 1 can be a bit of a bother when it's busy, but most of the time, it's a fantastic location for hiking or just sitting outside to read. The owners are also very nice people. We had a great time and loved the cottage!

My wife and I and I spent two nights here on our Honeymoon trip up the west coast and LOVED our time here! It is obvious there has been a lot of time and work put into the interior of this cottage and guests reap the rewards. Carol was a great host and when we were craving some homemade milkshakes we mentioned the need for a blender and she was gracious to let us borrow hers. It's right on the edge of the ocean as advertised and is in a quiet beautiful location! The only dissapointment was the wifi in the cottage didn't work at all our two day stay. We use internet for a lot of things (checking local restaurants ect....) and did not have web access as expected. I'm sure it usually works. Thanks Carol!
Owner response:aloha Honeymooners! Happy to hear you enjoyed our Cottage and the Location! So sorry about the wifi, by the time I found out about it not working for you, Comcast came out to take care of it, as soon as they could. Unfortunately it was the day you left. Thank you for all of your Kind descriptions about your experience in Moss Beach. Congrats on your Wedding, and hope your able to visit our little cottage in the future! carol and jerome

Intense romance, complicated by the equator, was perfectly re-kindled in this comfortable, private and romantic cottage by the sea. My fear is that this little place will get so popular that it will be difficult to make reservations in the future. It is a real gem.

We found this place smaller than expected, and too pricey for what it was. The floor is separating for some reason, and there was a rise under the flooring very near the entrance so that you feel like you're walking down a tiny hill to go the kitchen. We felt the place needed a good renovation and thorough cleaning. We were itching to vacuum the rugs, under the chair, and soap the blinds! The bathroom door also needs repair. It is nicely decorated, though, and looks much better inside than outside (the outer structure is more a trailer than a cottage). All in all, we felt they were asking for too much money for what they were offering. A hotel room with a view would have been better use of the money, because there at least you have other amenities and are sure to have a very clean room. Having said that, the owners were gracious when we asked to cut our stay short. If there's only two of you and it's just for a few nights, and you're not THAT particular about cleanliness and dust, this should be okay, BUT if it's a long stay and you have large suitcases or have family who may drop by, we would recommend another place.
Owner response: Angela and Dale, My apologies to both of you. Im sorry you weren't fortunate enough to appreciate, this beautiful cottage and this beautiful location. We advertize as a Cottage for Two. This cottage was built in 1906, yes the foundation has a slight dip near the front door, it was a bunk house many years ago. Their have been many Prestigious, guest that have slept here, one famous person named, Jack London. Today, it is now a Beautiful and Tastefull re-designed Romantic Cottage for Two, visited by an average of 150 Couples per Year! It is quite sad you didn't find the inspiration this place has to offer and didn't appreciate everything we did for you and Dale. From letting you delay payment to us , and leaving snacks and water in the fridge for your late check in. We were quite surprised you had such an unpleasant experience during your short visit. We had held your 18 day reservation for you for 9 months, turning many potential guests away. The full 50%deposit due at time of booking, and the remainder 50% due one month before check in, we allowed you to wait until check in to fulfill your agreement , upon your request. You backed out of that agreement, and we did not object or hold any monies from you. Our policy is 100% Refund, for any reason. After you left, we received the many deliveries from Fed Ex at our private home, phoning you and letting you know they were here waiting for you. We did not object to the many visitors we noticed, you had during your shortened visit here. Wondering if you were conducting some sort of business at our Cottage? I spend 2 hours cleaning time before each of our guests, clean bedding, scrubbing floors, bathroom and kitchen etc. While scrubbing toilets, washing dishes, vacuuming, cleaning windows inside and out and disinfecting All surfaces, I remind myselft of this Gift I am leaving our next guests, a clean, beautifully decorated, little ocean cottage. One guests coined it, "The Love Shack!" We willingly complied with each of your requests, and were quite surprised with your Negative Review. Out of all the guests that have visited the past 3 years, yours is the Only negative review. Our guests repeat each other with the Highest of compliments. I've had an aha moment "You can't please everyone, you've got to please yourself." Our Gift is Sharing our Little Cottage, it is our Joy meeting our like minded guests! mahalo~ carol & jerome

What a wonderful experience it is for us to visit here! We always feel as if we're in our own little world, where we are given just the right combination of attention, indulgence and discretion by our very hospitable hosts. This is truly a cosy, private cottage in a gorgeous setting with a laid-back, neighborhood feel. It is exactly as the listing describes it. Comfort is comined with cleanliness. Each time we stay here, we are glad it's not commercialized, and we love meeting the friendly local people. It's just the right atmosphere for us to unwind, de-stress and rediscover the magic of romance. The village of Moss Beach has all the basics without crowds. There is a good selection of restaurants nearby, especially for seafood. Half Moon Bay offers more retail shops, and San Francisco is in reasonable proximity. The air at the cottage, the ocean water at the beaches just down the road, the marvellous cliff-top views from the lawn (and from the windows when we don't feel like going out), the secure comfort of the hammock when we gaze at the night sky together, all these things and more combine to make us feel as if we've been re-invigorated. It's a real tonic, and we always hate to leave. We're looking forward to our next visit as soon as we can get away. We have recommended this sanctuary to close friends who will appreciate it. Thank you, Carol and Jerome. See you soon.

Thanks so much for the use of the Beach House. It was so relaxing, it's hard to go back to the busy life of reality. We did so much in the short time we were here. While tidepooling one of the Fitzgeral Marine Guides pointed out an octopus to us, Amazing. Not to mention everything else we saw. The drive to Monterely (17Mi. drive is a must) Many stops to take awesome pictures! Gold down there is good too - chanllenging! The weather was a bit unpredictable. Saturdayafternoon was so foggy & cold (50's if even) We couldn't see our ball. Then on monday, beautiful, clear, hot (upper 80's- 91) in Half Moon Bay! Love listening to the ocean & sitting by the fire. Thanks again, we had a Wonderful time! Kyle & Diane Yorkville, IL

We arrived at the beach Cottage just before sunset on Wed October 8th, just in time for the first of 3 beautiful sunsets. The little cottage was set up perfect with all the extras you could think of. Looking out the patio windows eating breakfast watching the pelicans and the sea gulls was like a dream. The fire pit was such a great extra. Wine, around the fire watching the sun sizzle into the ocean, there is nothing like it. Jerome and Carol were the best and very helpful. This was truely the most relaxing part of our 13 day trip around northern California. And we both agree, possibly the "MOST COMFORTABLE BED WE EVER SLEPT IN" We both hope to visit this magical place again. Thanks for everything Carol and Jerome. We had planned to do some hiking, or kayaking during this part of our stay, but it was just too nice to leave our private cottage that overlooked one of the most beautiful place's on earth.

I took my girlfriend here for a weekend getaway and to propose to her. We stayed 4 nights. I proposed on the second day just steps away on the beach below. It really is a paradise here on the mainland. A very short walk to view incredible tidepools, the Moss Beach Distillery nearby, steps from a beach full of friendly sun-bathing harbor seals, and a short drive to Half Moon Bay. Carol and Jerome are amazing. So down to earth and generous. They left us freshly baked cookies on the second day as well as a bottle of champagne, and made it a point of not being seen or heard, even though we welcomed them being around! If you want to experience an amazing secluded getaway, with the warmest of warm people taking care of you, this is it. Imagine yourself sitting in the chairs shown in this listing, with your significant other next to you, the sun is going down, there's a cold drink in your hand, a warm fire pit at your feet, and 180 degrees of unobstructed ocean views and ocean sounds all around you. Yeah, that sounds like vacation to me. We will be back.
