:: Colorful Guesthomes

Located in an old residential neighborhood and perched a half-block up the hill overlooking historic Santa Fe, this authentic adobe home is a bit over two blocks from both The Plaza and the new Convention Center.

To be in Casa Galeria is to be in a work of art surrounded by 18' thick color-filled adobe walls, 1200 square feet of brick and saltillo tile floors, museum quality paintings, Southwest-international furnishings, and antiques from around the world. This two bedroom/one bath home has the extra appeal of separate built-in vanity/sinks in each bedroom.

The living room has--amidst its galeria of art--a small traditional kiva fireplace as well as an elegant Tree-of-Life hearth. Intimate dining room features an old Indian corner cabinet. Antique hand-carved doors are from Morocco and Old Mexico.

Everywhere, in-and-around, is the soulful adobe charm of quiet Old Santa Fe.

As you stroll through Santa Fe's best galleries, museums and shops, keep your eye on the sky; in two short blocks you can be home in time for a magical margarita-and-salsa sunset. Ole!

                        What a great time and a great place. The information and description provided is less than what you really get. This is a great home. A great place to stay. So very comfortable. We were there during the coldest part of the year with the night time temps for a couple of days in the negative numbers. Despite the cold temps, the kiva and gas Tree of life gas hearth along with the well built adobe structure kept the entire house warm and comfortable. Despite the cold temps, we were still able to walk to the plaza and surrounding are and enjoy the sites of Santa Fe. Not only was the house great, but so was the customer service. We were met promptly when we arrived. Time was spent discussing the house and all that it had to offer. We were impressed with the customer service and the house. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We are looking forward to another visit in the near future in this very same home.

                        I am a writer by profession, and I find it hard to adequately express what a magical experience I had at Casa Galerie. The interior spaces were cozy and beautifully decorated in the traditional warm New Mexican colors of ochre and siena that I am accustomed to. Thoughtful and artful touches were everywhere -- in the bed linens, the pillows, the furniture, and Noel's inspired and beautiful paintings. I lit a fire every morn and eve in the lovely kiva. But you know that the space is perfect when I was only one-two blocks from the finest restaurants in the Plaza...and I often choose to simply pour myself a cup of coffee or glass of wine... and sit by the fire and bask in the warmth and beauty of my surroundings. The full kitchen allowed me to provision at nearby Whole Foods with ease. This is a perfect place: cozy enough for one person (which I was for this travel experience) or roomy enough for up to four (as there were king size beds in both rooms and, although there was a small bathroom, each bedroom had sinks and mirrors). Off street parking, plus comfortable and private outdoor spaces (a table, chairs, umbrella and grill) are all included. But it was the warm welcome and continued impeccable service and attention to detail by Noel, Russ and Krista that will bring me back to Casa Galerie time and time again in the future. I can't wait to return...and have truly found my home away from home. Brava!

                        We couldn't be more pleased with our experience in Santa Fe and our stay at Casa Galeria. The look and feel of this adorable casita was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, secluded, authentic and romantic for sure!!! The location was perfect. Even though it's right in the middle of a residential neighborhood just a block or two from the Plaza, the area was extremely quiet and quaint, just what we were looking for. The shopping and dining on The Plaza were top notch. Pasqual's is a must, must, must! as well as margaritas at Maria's, The Shed and many others. The salted caramel gelato at Mu Du Noodles is heavenly!! The hosts, Noel and Russ, are such easy-going, warm and inviting people. If we ever go back we will be asking them to go out to dinner with us!!!! We truly felt like we had the full "Santa Fe" experience by staying at Casa Galeria. Loved it!!!

                        This was one of the most charming places we have ever stayed. We had gone to Salt Lake for a wedding and decided to spend a few days in Santa Fe, otherwise we would not have gone in March, but the weather was perfect. We walked around in short sleeved shirts. The parking area for this place in large and this would be a caution, if you are looking at other places. Parking seemed tight at some houses. I can't imagine a nicer place. There is no exaggeration in the owners description. It has true feeling of the Southwest, from the furniture to the artwork to the fireplace to the doors. It is a true adobe structure. Although it has only one bathroom, the sink in the bedroom really helps, so even though there was myself and my wife, our son and his wife and their 8 month old baby, we never found this to be a problem. . As to location, you are about 2 blocks from the Plaza, which is in the heart of the shopping area. Everything, from Museums to Restaurants to Galleries is within easy walking distance. Would I recommend this to a friend, absolutely. In fact if we go back, I would not bother to look for any other place.

                        My husband & I stayed here the summer before last, and haven't been able to stop talking about it. The home is so inviting, and oozes warmth and character. Time and again, we found ourselves wishing that we never had to leave. The property was spotless; every detail was in order. The owners even have a little notebook prepared that lists restaurants, attractions, etc. Perhaps our favorite part of the house was the outside area of the home. We cooked out, sat outside, and watched the world go by. Bliss. We just can't recommend this home enough. Hotels are quickly forgotten; this home gets into your soul and becomes a very important part of your vacation.

                        Casa Galleria is truly our home when we are visiting Santa Fe. The home is magic to us and full of great energy! We feel very blessed to have found this great adobe home and are so thankful for having met Russ, Noel and the great folks that work with them! In addition to the charm and energy that surrounds you, it is such a convenient place to stay. You are just a leisurely walk to the plaza with all of the great galleries, restaurants and shops for you to enjoy without having to drive. You're close to fitness centers, grocery shopping and a great spa as well. The other great part is the kitchen, the grill etc...so you can cook and just enjoy being home. We fell in love and I subsequently proposed marriage at Casa Galleria and may even get married in Santa Fe. Needless to say we love it! Casa Galleria and Santa Fe provide the environment that makes our visits so memorable. I can't say enough good things about it! Thank you Russ and Noel!! Mike and Darlene

                        Just wanted to write you a short note thanking you for your hospitality and what turn out to be a wonderful and enchanting trip. Your Galleria adobe was very comfortable and we all enjoyed the tasteful decorations. We took some of your advice and went to both Maria's and Bumble Bee's. Both were great. But, I will have to say the highlight of the trip was driving up highway 84 and stopping at all the art studios. We met Lynette Jennings, who used to host one of the decorating shows on Discovery channel. She now lives up toward Abiquiu and creates paintings and sculpture. Santa Fe is beautiful and we will be sure to return.

                        We very much enjoyed our month-long stay this fall in Santa Fe, living in Casa Galeria. Noel and Russ were helpful, responsive, and accommodating. The house is as advertised: incredibly well-located, comfortable and well-equipped, from leather love- seat and just-right beds all the way down to olive oil and spices. The effective wi-fi was important to us, and on colder days we definitely appreciated the Tree of Life stove. The shower had sufficient hot water; the sitting area was pleasant and welcoming; the art, furnishings and even dishware made living here a pleasure. This beautifully equipped house was perfect for the two of us. We'd love to come back at some point, and it would be hard to consider staying anywhere else!

                        "We had an amazing time in Santa Fe and our stay at Casa Galeria made it even better. It was everything they said it would be and much more. The house's proximity to the Plaza was just perfect. Casa Galeria was just the touch of the Southwest that we needed to make us feel a part of the area. If we ever come back, and we hope to do just that, we will certainly stay there again."

                      About the owner: Sir Dr. Russell Betts ('Russ') has lived and worked most of his professional life in Asia, the South Pacific, and Europe addressing issues relating to social, economic and political change. Now calling Santa Fe 'home,' Russ brings to Colorful Santa Fe his world-traveler perspective: comfortable, engaging lodgings to enliven cross-cultural worldviews. Noel Bennett has lived most of her life in the Southwest. She is an abstract artist; her paintings grace the lobbies of several Santa Fe's banks. In past years Noel lived with the Navajo for eight years and authored nine books on Navajo weaving, history and culture. Noel brings to Colorful Santa Fe a well-honed sense of color and unique perspectives on native world-views..... Together we welcome the opportunity of hosting you in Colorful Santa Fe!

                      Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Historical Downtown:
                      Years ago we hand-built a now somewhat-celebrated, environmental strawbale home in the Jemez Mountains above Santa Fe. Ten years ago we decided to purchase an in-town pied a'terre--just a small gem-of-a-place in which we could overnight during shopping trips in Santa Fe. Wanting to get the right place in the right location, we engaged in an eight month exhaustive search and ended up purchasing--not one--but two adobe homes in this historic neighborhood just 3 blocks from the Plaza. They became our first guest homes. Now, in addition to living in this same neighborhood, we manage 8 guesthomes in the same residential block. Why were we so seduced by this neighborhood? In short, it is partway up the ONLY knoll close to the Plaza. So from within any of our guesthomes there is a constant sense of place: Our over-the-roof-top-views are of the historic Santa Fe Cathedral against a backdrop of mountain ranges and glorious sunsets. AND WITHIN 4-5 WALKING MINUTES WE ARE DOWNTOWN--RIGHT IN THE VERY HEART OF OLD SANTA FE. Here the glories of historic Santa Fe and our Southwest landscape are bundled into one. Our fascinating guests keep coming back and are now friends. We'll never move!
