Built in the mid-1500s, this noble palace opens onto a small piazza with the graceful Turtle Fountain. Enter through the massive front door that is staffed with a doorman during business hours into a well-kept courtyard. Look up to see fragments of frescoes from the Renaissance period on the interior walls.
The entry of the apartment is large with four elegant columns that frame several handsome antique pieces. With its own little balcony, the extension of the foyer contains a desk overlooking Roman views. The apartment has high-speed internet by WiFi. Work from Rome, if you have to!
Large, bright and welcoming, the living room has a number of fine pieces of art and antiques in a formal style. The sofa and side chairs have recently been upholstered in Victorian-style cut velvet. While sitting on the couch you can enjoy a beautiful characteristic view of red tiled rooftops and sunny piazzas. You look right down onto the neighborhood bakery the smells of which perfume your mornings.
The dining room is separate from the living room. An oval interior window bring extra light in from the living room. It has a large antique hutch, a massive table and seats 8 so the whole family can join together to plan Roman excursions and to review adventures of the day.
The kitchen has been recently renovated and boasts efficient cupboards and stainless appliances. There is a large refrigerator, gas stove top and oven, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker as well as the expected pots, pans and utensils. Another oval window brings in light from the living room.
Above the kitchen is a loft dedicated to laundry with a new washing machine, iron and ironing board.
The master bedroom has plenty of room and is complete with bedside tables and lamps. An antique chest and mirror are at the base of steps that rise up to a sleeping loft that contains a day bed and armoir. It can be made up as a bed, best for a child because if its smaller size. The view from the French windows or balcony just outside is the same fascinating neighborhood view as the living room. The en-suite bathroom in sparkling white tiles has shower over tub.
The second bedroom has two twin beds, antique chest and mirror, ensuite bath, shower over tub. A loft contains a rollaway bed.
The third bedroom has two twin beds that can be joined as a queen that are on a platform in this small room. The ceiling height is low but it will accommodate adults of 6'. The painted pine antiques in here are really charming. There is an old-fashioned basin set in a stand, a lovely bureau and bedside table. This bedroom is accessed from a little hallway off the foyer. The bath is on the left, serving also as a guest bathroom. It has a shower. There are steps leading up to the third bedroom. The first step of the stairs is wedge shaped and narrow on the inside, watch your step.
