"Secret Trout Lodge" is the perfect place to experience all that Donner Lake has to offer. Located on the quiet south side of Donner Lake, your experience is enhanced by our private dock located next to the best "fishin' hole" on Donner Lake. It is true that the lake looks so much better at the end of a dock!

You will be welcomed by our totally renovated, nicely appointed getaway with new granite, upgraded cabinets, wood laminate and new carpeting. There are wonderful views of the lake from the large windows in the Great Room and from three of the four bedrooms. Beds include two Kings, one Queen and two Bunk Beds (4 twins).

The large deck on the lake side boasts more panoramic views, and there is a large asphalt parking pad with plenty of room for your vehicles or boat trailer. Access to the property is easy in both summer and winter by a gently sloping private shared driveway.

The location can't be beat! Donner Lake fishing and water sports are at your feet within close proximity to historic Truckee, golf courses, all ski resorts, Tahoe or Reno.

  • Stayed at the Secret Trout Lodge back in Sept 08. My wife and I had rented this house along with our 1 month old son. It was really a true fishing hole. I truly caught and released over 100 trout during my stay here, and i only fished in the morning and evenings. My ypoung nephews came up on the weekend and they had a blast!! The guys doing construction next door could not believe what they were seeing. I got to know them, and they went home with a few trout everyday. I used larger hooks with a quick hookset, as not to let the fish swallow it, so they could be released alive. As far as the inside of the house goes, it has everything you need to be very comfortable. We over packed for our week long stay. The kitchen had every untensil you needed. Even had a electric mixer for whipping up pancakes.

    We had a great weekend and the comfort and elegance of your home contributed greatly. The views, snow and serenity were all enjoyed and "lured" us into staying in for all our meals instead of going to Truckee. We were also blessed with sunny, clear weather for cross country skiing/snowshoeing and the Donner Pass scenery blew away my two friends from the Midwest. My friend also caught a 3-lb trout which made him ecstatic. I will certainly pass along the Secret Trout Lodge information to friends and family.
