Wonderful Apartment

Very peaceful, quiet neighborhood. Apartment was very room and well equipped. Eliana greeted us with necessary items in the refrigerator so that we could delay a trip to the market for at least a day. So nice when this happens. Pictures online are completely accurate. Property was clean and clearly it is well maintained. Metro was about a 10 min. walk down the hill and is super easy to use and get around on. You are at the end of a line at this metro stop so the trains are never full at this point. Great coffee shop just steps down the street. Wonderful. Italian Deli about a block away on the main square in town. Eliana and her husband live downstairs if you need any assistance during your stay. The apartment was a perfect way to integrate into Rome for our 12 days there.

Wonderful apartment and lovely host!

Date of Stay: 11/05/11 Review Submitted: 11/27/11

This is a large, spacious apartment with a big bedroom (and massive bed!) and a very big lounge/kitchen area. There are 3 sofas in the lounge and still plenty of free room. Kitchen has virtually anything you might need when cooking during holidays. There is a nice little balcony (on the sunny side). Good, thick blinds that is important for summer. Neat bathroom (shower), there is a hair dryer available. Everything is clean and tidy and you can see that the owner really loves her apartment. It is in a safely secured house. There is a pizzeria near it (a really good pizza there!) and a little street market in mornings just up the road (for all the fresh fruit, veg and spices), within a 5 minutes walk there is a supermarket which has all you need very reasonably priced. Transport is fairly good, too. There is a bus station approx 7 minutes walk away and within approx 10-12 minutes one can walk to a metro station and get to all the important objects in Rome. Walked the root several times, also late at night, not many people around but felt safe. If taking the cab from the centre the charge is within 10-20 euros, try to negotiate with the cab drivers! More importantly - Eliana is a wonderful host, so welcoming! Kind and helpful, and there were lots of lovely gestures that made us feel at home. She does offer cooking (and, man, she is good at it!) so I would definitely take the opportunity to enjoy a real Italian home cooking. She was very helpful and assisted in planning our days out. Also very helpful with assisting buying the Vatican tickets. I would, no, I most definitely WILL STAY with her again and would recommend the place! So much better than any hotel!

Owner response:Dear Ieva , you are so kind !!! It was my great pleasure to have you in my apartment and I hope that you'll come back very soon to explore more in Rome and to taste many special italian deliciousness ! Eliana

Home in Roma!

Date of Stay: 10/08/11 Review Submitted: 10/24/11

We spent 5 nights at this wonderful apartment. We found it to be very clean upon arrival. The apartment is very spacious and in a quiet neighborhood. The owner, Eliana was very helpful giving us great instructions as to how to get to the bus and connect with the metro system. Bus stop 49 was within 5 min. walk and we were able to connect to the red metro line very easily, therefore making travel around Rome, relatively simple. Located close by are some great neighborhood "Coffee Bar's" and pastry shops. We were able to have great cappicino and pastry for the two of us in the morning at a fraction of the cost (3.6 Euro's) if purchased in Rome while enjoying the neighborhood residents. There is a grocery store and a couple of markets close by. We enjoyed dining at one of the local restaurants, "Shardana". Excellent food and excellent prices. Eliana is a very gracious host and so willing to help one out. She was so kind to have water, juice, a bottle of wine and a desert for us which we really did appreciate it greatly as our first day we did get lost so never did stop at the store before closing.... it was such a blessing to have some wine and food waiting for us when we got home the first evening. What a treat! Our computer was not able to pick up the internet service, but was not a problem as Eliana provided us with a computer to use in the apartment! She is an awesome host! A great home away ...away from home!

We enjoyed "coming home" to our apartment, a 15-20 minute ride to or from the city center via the Metro. Two options. Bus stop is 5 minute walk from the apartment and then a short ride to Metro stop. Otherwise, 10 minute walk to Metro. Apartment is spacious, clean, quiet and well equipped. Eliana is a great host and there is a grocery store and other shops within 5 minute walk. Also a wonderful restaurant called Shardana within walking distance of the apartment. Our best meals in Rome were here. Highly recommend this apartment.

Excellent place to stay in Rome! Ideal location! My family of 5 which included 3 children, ages 10-15 years old loved the place and did not want to leave! Very clean. The apartment had everything. Eliana was a perfect hostess. She was accommodating, very helpful, and kind. When we arrived, she had baked a cake, and the refrigerator was stocked with drinks!! Very much appreciated after a long day of travel! If this place is available, take it!! We would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I recently spent a week in Rome, and stayed at Elaina's VRBO. It was wonderful. The accommodations were very roomy and comfortable, it was in a great neighbourhood and Elaina was fabulous to deal with. After having been in Italy for almost a month it was so nice to have this place to come 'home' to every evening! If we ever get back to Rome I would certainly stay here again.

This apartment is a little gem in Rome. We just came back home yesterday and already miss being there. The apartment was very clean and stocked with water, juice, coffee, spices and even an Easter cake. Eliana is a wonderful host and the apartment has everything one might need for their stay in Rome, including a computer with internet and video games for the kids. Who could ask for more! The neighborhood is very quaint and close to the metro, buses, stores etc. Eliana is also available for any questions or assistance you may need. I would recommend this property to anyone who wishes to have a true Roman experience. We can't wait to go back. Please listen to Eliana and don't rent a car. Finding a parking space is a challenge.

Definitely Recommend Eliana's Beautiful Apartment

Date of Stay: 11/20/10 Review Submitted: 01/06/11

Living like a local in Eliana's "Home in Rome" was a true highlight of our trip! The neighborhood is quaint and the apartment is very convenient to the bus, supermarket and metro station. Everything was immaculate and Eliana has stocked the apartment with every comfort you could imagine for a pleasant stay - umbrellas for fair weather, tour books and videos in several languages, a map of the immediate area, and even beverages and special holiday treats upon our arrival! We had been travelling for a week prior to our arrival and desparately needed to do laundry as soon as we arrived. We arrived in the evening and the washing machine did not have power, so Eliana kindly offered to do our laundry in her apartment. Although we politely declined, we returned the next day after an exhausting day of sightseeing to find all our laundry done and hanging to dry (and the washer worked the remainder of our visit)! This was truly above and beyond!!! If this apartment is available, don't even think twice - just book it! Thank you for a wonderful stay that we will remember for many, many years!

This apartment was just like all the reviews claimed a home away from home. We arrived early on a Sunday, and, Eliana (the owner) was there to meet us. We were amazed at the size of the apartment. It was so clean. Eliana was so helpful, from helping us with a “late” suit case, and ordering taxies (we don’t speak Italian). We loved the neighborhood. The Pizza place down the street was spectacular. The market was close and open when we needed. Eliana had a helpful map of the area, which I used a lot. One thing to remember, is, the restaurants and bars in the neighborhood close by 8:00PM. It was about a 15 minute walk to the Metro, which will get you to all the key sites in Rome (buy the three day ticket for 11 Euros, it’s worth it). We’d definitely stay here again.

We had the wonderful experience of staying in this apt for 8 days in Oct/10. It was exactly as described on the website and even better. Eliana, a national treasure in our eyes, arranged pick up for us at the airport and a ride to the Termini train station when we were leaving Rome. While we were in Rome, Eliana was so helpful in giving us info on public transport, referring us to travel agents for Trenitalia tickets, helped us make reservations for the Vatican Museum, provided an excellent map of the neighbourhood and of Rome. I could go on and on about her hospitality! The kitchen cupboard contained oil, vinegar, spices, coffee, sugar - all the basics needed to do some of your own cooking and the frig contained water, juice and other drinks. She even baked us a cake which was delicious, found some coffee cream for a couple of spoiled Canadians :-) and made our stay so enjoyable. The open air market and the small grocery store both on the corner were excellent and the supermarket further down the street was well stocked with anything you would need. The trek uphill from the Metro station was a bit much after a busy day of sightseeing so we would recommend the nearby bus stop as a better alternative. We bought a 7 day transit pass and it was very handy for both the Metro and the buses. We recommend this apt for anyone who enjoys the peace and quiet of a suburban neighbourhood after a long day in the city of Rome.

Residential Apartment in Rome

Date of Stay: 09/02/10 Review Submitted: 09/25/10

This apartment was perfect for my husband's and mine 9-night stay in Rome. It was spacious and clean. We enjoyed staying in a true residential neighborhood and taking advantage of the food shopping, which ranged from an outdoor fruit and vegetable market to specialty stores to a supermarket. We enjoyed mastering the bus and metro, which the ownder helped us with. The owner was helpful both before and during our stay. We particularly appreciated having a computer and printer for maps and tickets. I would recommend the apartment to anyone who doesn't mind staying a little outside of the central city.

On a recent trip to Italy, my mom and my sisters and I stayed at three different apartments that we found on homeaway.com. The only one that truly felt like a home away from home was this property. And that was because of Eliana, who made us feel welcome immediately, and who was a great source of help, information, and advice. The apartment itself was very clean, well-appointed, and quiet (a great place to rest after busy days of sight-seeing). Also, we had fun feeling like temporary residents in a real neighborhood, especially when we stumbled upon a local church's procession for a patron saint, or when we found the most delicious dolci at the local pasticceria We recommend a stay at this property. We, ourselves, hope to return. Grazie, Eliana, per tutto!

My husband and I spent five days and nights in Rome for our 20th anniversary. Dear sweet Eliana had our fridge stocked with water, juice, beer, and wine. The cabinets were stocked with the basic oil and spices and had breakfast bread and coffee. In the lovely living room we had champagne waiting, movies galore and the internet was hooked up and waiting at the dining room table. She greeted us with a warm smile and had a booklet of helpful hints and maps waiting for us.The bed slept so comfortable and the bathroom was stocked and clean. The apartment was on the outskirts of the Vatican community. We were far from the touristy atmosphere and loved the quiet peaceful neighborhood. We soon found our favorite local stores and market vendor. There is even a local delivery pizzeria! A short walk and the bus would take you everywhere. There was also access to the metro with just a short bus ride. The big grocery store was just blocks away. We never wanted for anything. Eliana even let us email the tickets we purchased online for museums to her email address and she would print them out for us. She was a joy and a blessing. We made lovely memories and Eliana made sure we will always remember our stay with affection! Thank you!!!!!

Owner response:Dear Christopher & Stephanie , I'm touched from your very kind words ! and I'm proud to have helped you to enjoy this wonderful City! God bless you and your family! I hope to see you again .....Eliana

The Most Charming Hostess in Rome!

Date of Stay: 02/02/10 Review Submitted: 03/09/10

My family and I stayed in Eliana’s beautiful Rome apartment for a week during February, and we fell in love with everything about it. First, Eliana is a perfect hostess. She graciously greeted us when we arrived and showed us around her spacious, clean, and well-appointed apartment. She left us some welcome gifts and even cooked her delicious “Bucatini all'Amatriciana” for one of our dinners. The apartment is large and comfortable with all the amenities advertised on Eliana’s web page. Eliana furnished fresh linens and was always available if we needed assistance with anything. The apartment is located in a wonderfully typical Roman neighborhood where fruit and vegetable vendors set up tables each morning at the end of the street. It is a very short walk to the local piazza where you can buy groceries and anything else you might need for your stay. The local bus stop is close by, and the bus will take you to the Vatican or to Piazza Cavour where you can transfer to other busses that will take you anywhere in the city. The neighborhood is safe and quiet, away from the noise of the central city. If you are looking for a wonderful treat while in Rome, I highly recommend Eliana’s “The House of Your Dreams”. You’ll experience Rome the way the local people do, and it will be a stay that you’ll always treasure.

Owner response:Hallo Jim! It was my pleasure to meet you and your nice family! I'm very glad you loved so much the apartment , now , you know that this is your home in Rome and you'll be welcome at any time! take care of you! Eliana

My niece and I stayed at this lovely apartment, owned by Eliana and her family. It had everything we could possibly need and so many things that we didn’t expect. Eliana coordinated a taxi to pick us up from the airport and also to take us back to the airport. She baked a lovely cake that was waiting for us upon our arrival. The apartment was spacious, clean and literally had everything you would need to make yourself at home: kitchen appliances and tools, washing machine, food basics, 2 tvs, vcr, dvd, movies, travel books and games. Eliana provided information about local sites, restaurants, grocery store and directions on how to get to the nearest bus/metro station. She was the ultimate hostess and even printed tickets to the local tourist spots for us. I highly recommend this beautiful apartment, we hope that you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

We have a new friend in Rome. The owner could not have been more helpful, even during our personal emergency that arose. She is a pleasure to work with. The apartment is just as described in the listing. It is immaculate, spacious and very home-like. Definitely, "Home away from Home". She even had drinks and spices available. The bathroom was also well-stocked with necessities. We were able to use the Metro & Bus for easy access to all the attractions. We spent 11 days at the apartment, and if we return to Rome would definitely stay at her apartment.

My wife and I stayed at Eliana's very nicely appointed apartment for a week during Nov, '09. The apartment was immaculate, it was quiet for sleeping and very artistically decorated with mementos of travels and experiences. It is a very spacious apartment, with a great room that incudes kitchen, dining and sitting areas- very roomy and comfortable. Eliana herself is a great tour guide and ambassador for Rome and Italy and truly extends herself to accomodate and make her guests comfortable. It was an authentic Home in Roma, and given the opportunity we'd rent again from Eliana in an instant. She is a very dear lady and offers assistance with taxis or otherwise that you'd not ordinarily expect. It is a great value and a very nice asccomodation with a loving ambassador in Eliana.

Owner response:As are telling my guests , this is a wonderful apartment , it is 800 meters from the Metro Station A ( subway ), but if you don't like to walk , you can take the bus 49 , it is 150 meters from the apartment , and you can go straight to the Vatican or to get the next Metro stop in 2 minutes ;-)

My husband and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary at Eliana's apartment from October 21-25. We arrived to find that Eliana had left a bottle of champagne in the fridge to celebrate! How thoughtful! Our time in Rome was short but unforgettable and we reccommend to everyone visiting this interesting city to stay in this apartment. TIPS: Have Eliana reserve your round-trip transportation to and from the airport in advance. She is a pro! A perfect, young, gentleman named Alex (who spoke very little English) picked us up and dropped us off without a single glitch. He was well-dressed, personable and had us from the airport to the front door of the apt. in less than 30 minutes! His car was clean and his radio played American music, a plus for us:) My husband accidentally paid him up front for both ways when we got dropped off to the apartment but once Eliana was made aware of this, she promptly called Alex and made sure that there would be no problems with the transportation process. Make sure you have the address of the apartment in your pocket! I did not but Alex somehow knew where to go. Also, the Leonardo Da Vinci airport can be confusing if you are from the United States so make sure you find before you arrive exactly where in the airport your chauffer will be. The apartment is beautiful, spacious, spotless, and well-stocked. The bed is very comfortable!!! It was cold one night and we used some wool blankets that Eliana keeps in the closet. There are electrical converters available for use on American appliances. There is a blow-dryer and wonderfully fresh towels to use. The apartment is very sunny and welcoming. There is a small washing machine but no dryer, Consider that you will have to hang your wet laundry out on the terrace or use a drying rack. There is an electric as well as a stove top coffee pot for use. The stove top coffee pot was my husband's favorite!! Eliana left sugar and coffee for us to use, so thoughtful! The apartment is located in a very nice part of town and we felt very secure walking everywhere. Walking is the main form of travel for visitors so bring your BEST walking shoes. You reach the subway (the tube) from the apt. in about a 10/15 minute walk ; or you can take the bus 49 , it is 150 meters from the apartment

Owner response:Thank you for your very kind words ! It's the least I can do....to be an owner rental property is not only a job , it is a way to know a lot of people from all over the world......moreover the satisfaction of the people is mine satisfaction. The most important thing is to do everythings with loving care!!! I wish you all the best!

Eliana and her husband, Danilo, were fantastic hosts for our 9-night visit July 29-August 7. Upon our arrival, we discovered Eliana had stocked the refrigerator with several basic provisions (orange juice, bottled water, a pastry loaf and even some BEER!), and while we were there she baked us a delicious cake. Excellent maps were provided as well. She even gave us a 2010 calendar as a departure gift! We felt very secure in the apartment (strong doors and locks, another key was required to enter the building, and even a third key was needed to access the courtyard entrance), and Eliana provided a nice laptop for our use Recommended for: Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

We felt very secure in the apartment (strong doors and locks, another key was required to enter the building, and even a third key was needed to access the courtyard entrance), and Eliana provided a nice laptop for our use.. We had hoped there would be more English-speaking TV channels (BBC World was the only one we could get), but Eliana explained their cable system is in the process of being digitalized, so hopefully that issue will be addressed soon. Besides, we didn't spend that much time in the apartment, given all there was to do in the City of Rome. We will certainly tell our friends here in Kansas City to stay with Eliana when they visit! As for restaurants, our favorite was Ciccia Bomba (Via del Governo Vecchio, 76) near Piazza Navona. They had the best house wine I've ever tasted (and we have over 500 bottles in our wine cellar here at home), with a full liter priced at only 9 Euros, and they had no problem letting us split plates with our children, since the portions were generous. The gnocchi was excellent, and our picky 11-year old loved their pizza. The owners (two friendly brothers) were surprised when we showed them that we found their restaurant through a travel book, "Rome with Kids". We didn't seek out the restaurant until the 7th of our nine nights, but we returned for our bon voyage dinner on our last night in Rome. It was well worth it! I suggest you buy your bus/Metro pass at a Metro station to avoid the 2.50 Euro convenience charge per ticket assessed when you buy your one-week pass at the Tobacco store in the little square near the apartment. Also, buy a bus map (about 3 Euros) if you intend to utilize the bus system extensively, which we did.

The apartment was very nice, spacious and clean. Eliana and her husband were very friendly and helpful. When we arrived all the shops and restaurants were closed for a national holiday, but Eliana's husband ordered a pizza for us for delivery. The refrigerator was already supplied with drinks and snacks. We felt like we were at home. Our kids enjoyed the movies and videogames that were available at the apartment. We would definitely stay there again.

We just enjoyed a marvelous time in Roma with the fantastic help of Eliana. She arranged our transportation from the airport and showed us the apartment which she had equiped with everything. Knowing we would be tired the fridge already had cold bottled water and orange juice along with snacks for our kids. She had maps and tour guides already printed and plenty to choose from in the apartment. There were DVDs and CDs to make us at home when we weren't out and about. The local grocery store is only a 5 minute walk and she even provided a grocery cart to use. You can pruchase bus and metro tickets at the tobacconist on the corner and the bus stop is right by the store. The metro is a 10 minute walk. (Caution: use the map to the metro Eliana provides the first time you go or you might get lost...). Eliana provided everything we needed to have a great stay. Her apartment was clean and spacious enough for five of us to relax. We have already recommended her place to friends and the next time we are in Roma, that is where we will stay. Tom

We stayed at Eliana's apartment for 4 days in May, 2009. The apartment was large, clean, quiet, well equipped, and convenient to both the Metro and buses as well as to a variety of shops for groceries. A perfect place to escape to after a day of sightseeing in Rome. We were met at the Metro by Eliana's husband upon our initial arrival, a nice friendly touch. Highly recommended!

I loved the apartment, very well organized and spotlessly clean, with all the necessary amenities and extras as well - nothing missing. I stayed with a friend who had two children and Eliana's apartment was perfect for when we returned home in the evening - always something for them to do, which made our life easier. Our one emergency, not being able to find a taxi for the station was solved again by Eliana, as her husband drove us. Thank you!

My friend and I stayed at Eliana’s “Home in Roma” for 6 nights in April of 2009. Eliana had everything ready for our arrival... maps, information, good advice and a laptop computer for our use 24/7. The apartment was lovely, large and super clean. Eliana and her husband went out of their way to help us with all our needs. What ever you may need they are available to help. There was a bus stop not too far from the apartment (just in front of the convenient grocery store). You could catch bus 49 that went directly to the Vatican Museum entrance… if you stayed on the bus for a couple more stops you could get off quite close to Castel St. Angelo (Hadrian’s Mausoleum) and Ponte St. Angelo (Hadrian’s bridge). Castel St. Angelo is a must see - there is a great view of Rome from the top. Bus 49 will also take you near to the Cornelia Metro station (about 3-4 stops). Cornelia station is on the red metro line A. We had made plans to go to Sorrento for 4 days and needed to leave our large bags behind… Eliana and her husband kept them for us until we returned to Rome and also arranged a driver to the airport for our return home to the States. We thoroughly enjoyed Rome and Eliana’s apartment was a great place to stay.

Our stay in Rome was very nice. The apartment is very big and well equipped, close to metro and supermarket. Eliana is extremely considerate. She prepared us fresh water and orange juice for our arrival which was very helpful since we arrived at mid-night on a saturday (supermarkets are closed sunday in Rome). The tourist and transportation information that she prepared helped also a lot. By the way the small cafe nearby (il pio cafe if I didn't mistaken) is a very animated place. The gentle man is a very nice person, always in good mood. In a word we would choose Eliana's place again if we have a chance to go back to Rome.

Eliana's apartment was a perfect compliment to a wonderful week spent in Rome, with a one day trip outside the area to Pompeii. The apartment is exactly as pictured, with a large living/dining area, bath, and large bedroom with a comfy bed. We arrived on Christmas day, and nearly everything was closed except for a wonderful coffee bar called the Snack Shop about a block from the apartment. My family 0f two daughters and my wife were jet laggeg and I must have had an adrenaline shot or something, so I spent the afternoon sitting outside the door at the coffee place, sipping cappucinos and absorbing the Roman neighborhood and its people. A bakery shop opened the next day, and sweets were found to get us going. The local supermarket, also close to the apartment opened the following day, and we were able to shop there the rest of our trip. If you want to rent an apartment close to the bus stop, about two blocks, and a short fifteen minute walk downhill to the subway, then this is it. As one of the previous visitors has stated, the apartment does provide a wonderful respite from the hustle and bustle of the touristy stuff, and even though the weather was cold, we are looking forward to another trip to Rome and Eliana's apartment in the future.Eliana was so helpful and responsive to our requests, arranging our rides to the airport and unplugging a slow draining shower. You can't go wrong staying here!!!!!!!!!!

After four subsequent stays since 2005 we cannot but fully recommend this surprisingly quiet and spotless clean appartment, technically best equipped (climatised, washing machines, Laptop, TV, Film-CD's)as well as most commodious furnished. Carefully looked after by charming Eliana, helping with all touristic services. A near populous and commercial Piazza offers a daily greengrocer market, fine delicatessen shops, a high quality Pizzeria. Nearby medical services. Within easy 10 to 15 minutes direct bus and metro connections to town (5 stations to St. Peter). No tourist to be seen !

All of the comments that we had read about Eliana as a hostess and about her wonderful apartment were absolutely true. She and her husband are both extremely helpful in all ways. We took the metro from the train station to within walking distance of the apartment. We were picked up and driven to the apartment as it is a bit confusing from the metro to the apartment the first time there. After that we walked to the bus stop or to the metro for our daily excursions. The apartment is truly comfortable and as you are staying in a neighborhood, you get the feel of Italian life- not just seeing the tourist spots of Rome. We highly recommend this apartment to everyone wanting an all around experience in Rome.

We had a fantastic stay and enjoyed the local suburban village life for a week. The apartment was beautiful, comfortable and cool when we came home each day from the September heat. Eliana was very helpful explaining the local transport and shopping facilities which were all very close and convenient. We will return again one day to enjoy the roman life from the apartment in Battastini.
