Make our home in Paris your home in Paris. In the bright and lively fifth arrondissement, home to the Sorbonne, the Jardin des Plantes and the Luxembourg Gardens is a wonderful jewel of an apartment that awaits you as your home away from home. A five minute walk brings you to rue Mouffetard, one of the oldest market streets in Paris. Here you will find a wonderful mix of outdoor fresh food stands, cheese, bread, wine and food shops and wonderful restaurants.

The apartment is located closest to the Censier/Daubenton metro on line number 7 and is also within a 10 minute walk from the Port Royal stop on the RER B which has a direct train from CDG and Orly Airports (Orly uses a shuttle train to transport passengers to the Antony stop where the RER B is available.)

Nestled on a quiet street, in a quiet interior courtyard, this lovely one bedroom apartment of 42 square meters (450 sq. feet) has all of the conveniences that any traveler could want. One of the first things you notice is how homey and welcoming the owners have made this apartment. That is because, unlike an apartment that has been furnished as a rental unit, the owners of this apartment live here several months a year. They have set it up and furnished it as they would like to live and you as their guests, reap the rewards.

Heated with gas heat, which also provides unlimited hot water, the system’s remote control can be set to give you the perfect temperature for day or night comfort. The thermal insulated double paned windows and door to the garden are designed to help keep the apartment comfortable, no matter what the temperature. Large space saving radiators which insure that heat is evenly and efficiently distributed in all rooms, makes a visit in colder months as much a pleasure as the warmer spring and summer months. In fact, with less crowds to deal with, staying here in the late fall and winter is a delightful way to experience a less crowded Paris.

In the summer, a major plus is an air conditioning unit in the living room, powerful enough to keep the entire apartment comfortable. It is a two part system with the smaller part that keeps you cool on the inside and the larger machinery part on the outside.

Another wonderful thing about this apartment is its lovely private garden. Hedged all around, the space is a private little oasis in which to enjoy an afternoon drink or a pleasant meal. There is a wooden deck with a resin table which seats four comfortably or a smaller round bistro table for more intimate moments. The French door in the living room leads out to this wonderful added attraction.

A separate bedroom, with a large window looking out on your private garden is sunny and bright. Ample closet space, a comfortable double bed, a flat screen TV with BBC and CNN, a telephone with free calls to 139 countries, including the US, DSL WI-FI internet access, this apartment has it all.

High quality linens ensure you will have a great night’s sleep. The living room is spacious with a very comfortable double sized sofa bed, a drop leaf table which seats four very comfortably, plenty of books to read and guide books to inform, a CD-collection for your listening pleasure, a radio/CD/cassette combination with great sound, an i-Pod speaker dock and a wonderful reading light.

In addition to the sofa, there are two incredibly comfortable Phillipe Starck designed chairs so four people can relax in comfort. The coffee table is on wheels and is very easy to maneuver to allow for the opening of the sofa bed. A dramatic glass and iron display unit contains wonderful pieces of glass and pottery collected by the owners. Everywhere you look is the art work of a home that reflects that someone lives here, not some sterile hotel room,

The “American” kitchen has everything one could want to prepare a meal. With all the wonderful markets nearby, we know you’ll be tempted to try your hand at French cooking. But if you don't want to cook there are tons of restaurants nearby and within easy walking distance if the most you want to make is coffee. And we even have three ways to make coffee, a French press, a regular coffee machine and, for those of you who prefer, an espresso maker. A breakfast bar and stools allows for easy dining for 2 people.

A very unique gas, stove, oven and dishwasher (yes, in one unit) takes care of all your cooking and clean-up needs. Plentiful pots, pans, casseroles, spices and cooking utensils are available as well.

The windowed bathroom has everything you would expect and more. Two separate heaters (one electric near the shower, the other, working off the gas unit which heats the apartment, near the toilet) are available to insure you are toasty warm when you emerge from the recently renovated and enlarged tiled shower. With a choice of two shower heads and unlimited hot water, this is great way to unwind after a long day of touring.

With small hotel rooms in Paris around 200 euros and the strength of the euro compared to the dollar, this apartment is a marvelous value. We even offer pick up and drop off to both Paris airports for a reasonable additional charge.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 5

It's Paris - what more is there to say? We owned the apartment for 6 years before deciding to rent and our apartment is filled with art and things we decided not to remove when we decided to rent. Paris is an amazing city - after 15 years of visits, we never tire of her street life, restaurants and architecture.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment

The biggest difference you will experience at our place is the feeling that you are visiting someone's home, not an anonymous rental unit. The garden is a huge plus in the nice weather and the newly added deck makes eating outside a true delight.

Owner's Map of Paris Arrondissement 5

My husband and I are both self employed which has allowed us the freedom to travel as we wish. As long as we have an Internet connection we are good to go. When we are not in Paris, we live in Brooklyn NY in a converted warehouse from 1900. We recently transplanted ourselves from the Upper East Side of Manhattan. My husband has two kids and we have four grandchildren.

My mother and I stayed here in January and the location could not be beat. The apartment was just the right size for us and the owners were wonderful to work with. I would recommend this apartment to anyone and I hope to be back soon.

Owner response:Thanks so much Amber for taking the time to share your thoughts. You and your Mom were super gusts and we hope you will think of us when your travel plans next call for Paris.

Charming apartment in the Latin Quarter

Guest: Tom (Excelsior, MN USA)
Date of Stay: 12/03/11 Review Submitted: 12/11/11

My wife and I just returned from a week in Paris, staying in Amy and Oscar's apartment. In short, the experience with the rental was excellent. The response from the owner, both before and during the rental was immediate and positive. The apartment is well located (four easy blocks from the Metro, two blocks to cafe and open air market). It was well equipped with kitchen and bath needs, had a very comfortable bed and living area, and a small but complete bath and shower area. Overall, I can say nothing but good things about this rental experience and would recommend it. Two last things: the unit is very secure and located on the street level facing on an interior courtyard, meaning quiet and no stairs to climb. Secondly, we used the owner's friend for transportation to and from the airport, which provided a very comfortable ride (for two adults with two suitcase) as well as pleasant conversation.

Owner response:Thanks so much Tom, it is always a pleasure to know our guests enjoy their rental experience and that you would recommend it to your friends. We will look forward to welcoming you back again. Amy & Oscar

Fantastic Experience

Guest: Rick H.
Date of Stay: 09/09/11 Review Submitted: 11/23/11

This was a fantastic experience. My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in Paris, our first time to Paris, and this apartment was the best! We had always stayed in hotels or B & B's in prior travels, so renting a place for the week was a different experience, and to be honest I was a bit nervous about it. Amy made the process so easy! Very honest and trustworthy! The location is fantastic, just a few blocks from the Rue Mouffetard, which is a fantastic farmers market. Amy's instruction/ guide book in the apartment was a HUGE help, it steered us towards all sorts of boulangeries and coffee houses nearby. I cannot say enough about how helpful that was to newcomers to Paris. Getting there from the airport (CDG) was very easy as the station is only a few blocks from the apt. There are other nearby metro stops as well. Also the hop on/off sightseeing bus stops nearby as well, which also came in handy. As far as what you need in the apt. it is well stocked with the essentials that we needed for cooking some meals "at home". You will be amazed by the stove/oven/dishwasher machine combination, and yes you read that correctly. What a great unit, I wish I could get one over here. As far as some of the basics go, the apt. was very clean and well maintained and the description listed is very accurate. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone, although I might find it difficult to rent again due to its popularity, lol. I want to thank Amy and Oscar for all their help in making this a very memorable anniversary for us.

Owner response:Rick, thanks so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We are thrilled that our apartment enhanced your anniversary trip and we look forward to welcoming you back for anniversaries (or in between) to come. Amy & Oscar

Fabulous spot!

Date of Stay: 09/02/11 Review Submitted: 10/25/11

The apt was the BEST apt in a very nice private building . The patio was so private and so nice. We had breakfast out there almost every morning. AMY, the owner was also the BEST. So informative. I asked a million questions, she not only answered them, but provided answers to questions I didnt even know enough to ask. We walked EVERYWHERE from the apt. My sister and I shared. I offered her the bedroom for the second half of our visit but she loved the sofa sleeper and said she would stay right there. AMY provided everything you could think of and more (even umbrellas!) The kitchen had everything we could have needed. I searched the homeaway website and found the most perfect apartment with a patio and I am thrilled with my choice. Paris was more wonderful than we imagined. Both of us look forward to returning to Paris and staying in this very private, very modern, beautifully decorated apartment. The Moufftard Marketplace was almost around the corner and our daily ventures usually started there . We would have coffee or a glass of Rose', sometimes lunch and map out the days activities there. The apt and its location couldn't be better. I wish it was mine! Kuddos to AMY!

Owner response:Thanks Donna, As a rental property owner yourself, your words mean a great deal to us. You know how important it is to make your guests feel comfortable with the process of renting and comfortable once they arrive at your property. It was a pleasure answering your questions as they help us to make the visits of future guests that much more enjoyable. You are welcome back anytime. Amy & Oscar

Jewel of a Place in Paris

Guest: Liz (Chicago)
Date of Stay: 07/02/11 Review Submitted: 07/13/11

My 12 year old niece and I rented Amy and Oscar's place for one week in July. What a great place to stay for introducing my niece to Paris! The apartment is (as advertised) in a great location in the 5th; very near two markets (Rue Mouffetard and the market on the Boulevard de Port Royal); very near a Metro station (Censier/Daubenton) and the RER (Port-Royal) which is a line that comes in directly from CDG airport; very near to lots of bakeries, grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, delis, etc. It is on a small side street, and the building actually is enclosed in a courtyard, so we had NO traffic noise - a very nice plus for a place in the city of Paris. The photos in the listing are very accurate. We found the bed in the bedroom and the sofa bed were both very comfortable for sleeping. The kitchen was well-equipped for our needs. We absolute loved the patio. It was a wonderfully pleasant and serene atmosphere for enjoying the meals we ate at home. Everything was pleasant and very clean. Amy could not have been more helpful in answering my questions. Also, the guide in the apartment and all the labels helped in figuring out how everything worked. The WiFi and phone were very useful in keeping in touch with the US. In my past visits to Paris I have always stayed in hotels. I hesitated to "take the chance" on a rental. I am so glad I "took the leap" and made the decision to rent Amy and Oscar's place. My niece agrees. Our only disappointment is that we couldn't stay longer.

Owner response:Wow Elizabeth, your glowing words made us smile from ear to ear. Your experience is exactly one we hope others will enjoy when they rent our place. It is wonderful to know that our place was your "first time" renting an apartment and we are glad that having had such a good experience, you will never bother with a small, under-equipped hotel room again. So glad you and your niece had a ball. We would welcome you back anytime. Amy & Oscar

Would we do it again?

Guest: John (Maine, USA)
Date of Stay: 06/07/11 Review Submitted: 07/01/11

We stayed for 8 days in early to mid June 2011 – the apartment was great and we ~loved~ the neighborhood. The daily (exc Sunday and Monday) street market at rue Moufettard provided an easy way to replenish our bread, cheese, and wine supply. The area is quiet and relaxed – by Paris standards, anyway – and the metro made it easy for us to get just about anywhere in the city in just a short time. I preferred the apartment to the centrally located Paris hotels I've previously stayed in by a wide margin – the experience is completely different. The owners were quick to respond to questions and provided lots of very helpful information. Would we do it again? Yes, in a heartbeat!

Owner response:John, We are so appreciative of your taking the time to write your review. We are so gratified when guests express their pleasure with their trip and our apartment. We love Paris and are so glad we can share it with others. We would love to hear from you when your future travel plans include Paris. Amy & Oscar

Perfect Location

Guest: Hazel (Fife, Scotland)
Date of Stay: 06/03/11 Review Submitted: 06/17/11

Myself and two girlfriends recently visited to celebrate a milestone birthday and we had a wonderful time. The location was so near to major attractions that we were able to walk to them. The areas was great for markets and also in the evenings it had a lovely buzz with excellent choices of places to eat literally 'round the corner' from the apartment. Although the space is quite small it is really well laid out and comfortable and with the addition of the outdoor terrace it felt light and airy. Amy was so helpful with directions and tips and it is probably the cleanest rental property I have ever visited. An added unexpected boon for us was that we happened to visit over a weekend which included the 1st Sunday of the month when many major galleries are free.

Owner response:Thanks Hazel, So glad to know that you and your friends enjoyed your stay. Its always a pleasure to read the thoughts of our guests and we would welcome you back to Paris anytime. Amy & Oscar

Perfect Place to Stay!

Guest: Pete & Lynda (Santa Barbara, CA)
Date of Stay: 05/18/11 Review Submitted: 06/13/11

My wife and I stayed at Amy and Oscar's apartment for two weeks in May 2011, and found it to be very comfortable and well furnished with everything we could possibly need/want. It is extremely well located, within walking distance to both the metro and a bus stop as well as many of the wonderful attractions of Paris. Being as close as it is to rue Mouffetard made it extremely easy to both shop at the markets and restaurant hop. When some of our French friends visited us in the apartment, their comment was "If the owners ever want to sell it, please let us know! This is a great apartment in a wonderful location."

Owner response:Dear Lynda and Peter, Its was wonderful to read your review and know that we contributed to a wonderful holiday. We so appreciate your taking the time to write and will look forward to welcoming you again in the future. And if our plans ever call for selling Paris (hard to imagine at this time), we will certainly reach out to you and your friends. Amy & Oscar

Quaint, Cozy, and Charming

Guest: allioop (NY)
Date of Stay: 05/11/11 Review Submitted: 05/16/11

Amy and Oscar have a lovely flat on the first floor with a private garden lush with rhodies and yellow flowering hedges. The rooms are small but that did not seem to matter. The walls are filled with beautiful paintings and crafts, and bookshelves are filled with tourist guides. The beds are very comfortable, even the pull out sofa, and I love the roll away coffee table and combo stove-oven-dishwasher! Very quiet at night being three streets in from major streets. Elementary school down the street, so don't plan on sleeping the day away.....which would be silly anyway in Paris. I have stayed in Paris hotels twice before. Paris hotels are tiny. If one of us wanted to walk, the other person had to get on the bed to make room. This is really the better way to go. Thank you for all your helpful little notes and instructions. We will be back, hopefully. Thanks for paying attention to all the details, large and small. Allison and Carly New York

Owner response:Allison, We so appreciate your taking the time to write this review. Lots of people don't realize how incredibly small hotel rooms are in Paris. Your description was both accurate and very funny. We will look forward to welcoming you back whenever your travel plans call for Paris. Amy

A Wonderful Oasis

Guest: Anne (Canada)
Date of Stay: 04/01/11 Review Submitted: 05/05/11

This was our first time to the Latin Quarter and this apartment was perfect in every way. It is close to the Rue Moufettard with its great outdoor markets and lots of super resturants. The apartment itself is quiet and restful and when we were there the lilacs were in full bloom on the patio - the weather was good so we spent time out there sipping wine in the evening. The Apartment has all the comforts of home and is a great place to return to after a day of sightseeing, We hope to return.

Owner response:Dear Anne, Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about our place in Paris. It is so gratifying to know that the time and energy we spend making the place like home is so appreciated. We will look forward to welcoming you back. All the best, Amy
