Three of us stayed in this charming apartment for a week in early May, 2013 and we LOVED it! Hate to add any more great reviews because we want to stay here again! But must tell the truth--it was perfect! The entrance off the quiet, two-block long street is deceptive--a large, anonymous two-panel wooden door that leads into the courtyard of small apartment buildings. Straight ahead on the left is the only private garden in the courtyard--and it's YOURS!! We arrived just as the lilac trees and rhododendrons were in FULL bloom, hanging over the garden with such beauty and fragrance. The apartment is small (by US standards), but the French (what else) doors to the courtyard expand the space immeasurably. The separate bedroom allows privacy and has great storage--and the newly remodeled kitchen has the newest and best of everything--including induction stove top, microwave, full size fridge, great oven, even a dishwasher. Pots, pans, dishes, soap--even cooking basics like oil and spices are there! Not to mention toilet paper and paper towels--which we've missed in other apartment rentals! :) This apartment is very convenient to much of what we wanted to see and do in Paris--one of us has limited mobility so we chose taxi (use G-7 Taxi--they have English-speaking dispatchers and are very ethical) and sight-seeing buses for basic transportation rather than metro (couldn't do stairs). Worked very well for us! Walking a few blocks takes you to the famous and WONDERFUL Rue de Mouffetard, the absolute best place to buy any food item--the specialty shops and stalls are filled with the highest quality products--and there's a full-service grocery store that looks tiny until you go inside and realize that it's huge! Amy's manuals are great--clear, simple directions for everything you need to know about the apartment--and suggestions for shopping, restaurants, laundry, etc. We LOVED living in Paris for a week--and want to return. This gave us a taste of the real Paris in a neighborhood, not a hotel--and we loved it. Thanks for sharing your little jewel on Lyonnais--it was perfect for us!

My husband and I recently took our two kids (10 & 12) on a trip through Europe and we were lucky enough to stay at Amy and Oscar's apartment in Paris. On our last night there I sent this email to Amy: I'm sitting in your garden at 9:30 at night, it's still 23 degrees and very pleasant to be out here indeed. Today is our last day in Paris and I just wanted to drop you a note thanking you for letting us stay in this wonderful place. From the moment we found it (very easily) when we arrived we have been so pleased with all the arrangements. It is a lovely quite little oasis in the middle of Paris, great public transport connections and shops near by, wonderful to have a kitchen available, very comfortable beds, lovely complex with the garden and the larger courtyard. My kids have been able to play in both without worrying about where they are - and have met a couple of the local kids as well. The wi-fi has been great too, and has allowed us to look up all sorts of things like the best bus connections, or the weather, or attraction times, very easily. The only bad thing is that we need to leave tomorrow!

Owner response: Dear Lucy, What a delight to read your review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you were able to take advantage of our terrific private garden oasis. Thank you for taking the time to write and to share your experiences with others. All the best, Amy & Oscar

We just spent almost a month in Oscar and Amy’s apartment, and we didn’t want to go home – partly because of the lure of Paris, to be sure, but also because this apartment was a wonderful substitute “home.” The street itself is very quiet, yet the neighborhood offers all the food shops and restaurants that make Paris so delightful. The apartment is well-organized, well-equipped, comfortable, and charming. It was easy to live here for a month; it’d be hard to find anything to complain about. On four previous trips to Paris, we’d stayed in hotels. Given the current (June 2012) high prices of even one-star hotels in this part of Paris, our ability to have our own kitchen and dining area made the apartment an economically sound choice (even though we ate one meal out each day). We think of ourselves as very fussy eaters, and the food available 4 blocks away on Rue Mouffetard more than met our expectations. We particularly liked (a) the combination of a quiet apartment in an active neighborhood, (b) the food shops available on Rue Mouffetard, (c) the proximity to Paris’s cultural institutions, and (d) the availability of public transportation close by. Amy and Oscar (the owners) were very helpful before our departure, and very quick to respond to a minor question we had once we were there. The bottom line: we’d love to stay there again and we recommend it highly.

Owner response: Dear Steve and Mary, A long term guest lends a unique perspective on a rental property and we so appreciate your taking the time to write such a thorough and thoughtful review. A very nice and quiet appartment in a lively area of Paris. Amy, the owner, was very helpful. We felt a little bit like home. The kitchen was well equiped, the bed very comfortable. At this time of the year, we enjoyed the terrass. When we ll come back to Paris, we ll definitely consider this appartment.

Just returned from a week at this apartment in Paris. It is on a tiny side street which made the area quiet and peaceful, yet it is close to Rue Mouffetard and Luxembourg Gardens. All the sites in the "center" of Paris were very accessible with just a quick and easy bus ride - the #21 stops right around the corner. The bed and sofa bed were comfortable and the apartment was very clean and well-kept. Amy's binder of helpful information was great and she was just a quick email away - from the time of inquiry right through the visit. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this apartment without hesitation.

My wife and I just returned from a week in Paris, staying in Amy and Oscar's apartment. In short, the experience with the rental was excellent. The response from the owner, both before and during the rental was immediate and positive. The apartment is well located (four easy blocks from the Metro, two blocks to cafe and open air market). It was well equipped with kitchen and bath needs, had a very comfortable bed and living area, and a small but complete bath and shower area. Overall, I can say nothing but good things about this rental experience and would recommend it. Two last things: the unit is very secure and located on the street level facing on an interior courtyard, meaning quiet and no stairs to climb. Secondly, we used the owner's friend for transportation to and from the airport, which provided a very comfortable ride (for two adults with two suitcase) as well as pleasant conversation.

This was a fantastic experience. My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in Paris, our first time to Paris, and this apartment was the best! We had always stayed in hotels or B & B's in prior travels, so renting a place for the week was a different experience, and to be honest I was a bit nervous about it. Amy made the process so easy! Very honest and trustworthy! The location is fantastic, just a few blocks from the Rue Mouffetard, which is a fantastic farmers market. Amy's instruction/ guide book in the apartment was a HUGE help, it steered us towards all sorts of boulangeries and coffee houses nearby. I cannot say enough about how helpful that was to newcomers to Paris. Getting there from the airport (CDG) was very easy as the station is only a few blocks from the apt. There are other nearby metro stops as well. Also the hop on/off sightseeing bus stops nearby as well, which also came in handy. As far as what you need in the apt. it is well stocked with the essentials that we needed for cooking some meals "at home". You will be amazed by the stove/oven/dishwasher machine combination, and yes you read that correctly. What a great unit, I wish I could get one over here. As far as some of the basics go, the apt. was very clean and well maintained and the description listed is very accurate. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone, although I might find it difficult to rent again due to its popularity, lol. I want to thank Amy and Oscar for all their help in making this a very memorable anniversary for us.

Owner response: Rick, thanks so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We are thrilled that our apartment enhanced your anniversary trip and we look forward to welcoming you back for anniversaries (or in between) to come. Amy & Oscar

The apt was the BEST apt in a very nice private building . The patio was so private and so nice. We had breakfast out there almost every morning. AMY, the owner was also the BEST. So informative. I asked a million questions, she not only answered them, but provided answers to questions I didnt even know enough to ask. We walked EVERYWHERE from the apt. My sister and I shared. I offered her the bedroom for the second half of our visit but she loved the sofa sleeper and said she would stay right there. AMY provided everything you could think of and more (even umbrellas!) The kitchen had everything we could have needed. I searched the homeaway website and found the most perfect apartment with a patio and I am thrilled with my choice. Paris was more wonderful than we imagined. Both of us look forward to returning to Paris and staying in this very private, very modern, beautifully decorated apartment. The Moufftard Marketplace was almost around the corner and our daily ventures usually started there . We would have coffee or a glass of Rose', sometimes lunch and map out the days activities there. The apt and its location couldn't be better. I wish it was mine! Kuddos to AMY!

Owner response: Thanks Donna, As a rental property owner yourself, your words mean a great deal to us. You know how important it is to make your guests feel comfortable with the process of renting and comfortable once they arrive at your property. It was a pleasure answering your questions as they help us to make the visits of future guests that much more enjoyable. You are welcome back anytime. Amy & Oscar

My 12 year old niece and I rented Amy and Oscar's place for one week in July. What a great place to stay for introducing my niece to Paris! The apartment is (as advertised) in a great location in the 5th; very near two markets (Rue Mouffetard and the market on the Boulevard de Port Royal); very near a Metro station (Censier/Daubenton) and the RER (Port-Royal) which is a line that comes in directly from CDG airport; very near to lots of bakeries, grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, delis, etc. It is on a small side street, and the building actually is enclosed in a courtyard, so we had NO traffic noise - a very nice plus for a place in the city of Paris. The photos in the listing are very accurate. We found the bed in the bedroom and the sofa bed were both very comfortable for sleeping. The kitchen was well-equipped for our needs. We absolute loved the patio. It was a wonderfully pleasant and serene atmosphere for enjoying the meals we ate at home. Everything was pleasant and very clean. Amy could not have been more helpful in answering my questions. Also, the guide in the apartment and all the labels helped in figuring out how everything worked. The WiFi and phone were very useful in keeping in touch with the US. In my past visits to Paris I have always stayed in hotels. I hesitated to "take the chance" on a rental. I am so glad I "took the leap" and made the decision to rent Amy and Oscar's place. My niece agrees. Our only disappointment is that we couldn't stay longer.

Owner response: Wow Elizabeth, your glowing words made us smile from ear to ear. Your experience is exactly one we hope others will enjoy when they rent our place. It is wonderful to know that our place was your "first time" renting an apartment and we are glad that having had such a good experience, you will never bother with a small, under-equipped hotel room again. So glad you and your niece had a ball. We would welcome you back anytime. Amy & Oscar

We stayed for 8 days in early to mid June 2011 – the apartment was great and we ~loved~ the neighborhood. The daily (exc Sunday and Monday) street market at rue Moufettard provided an easy way to replenish our bread, cheese, and wine supply. The area is quiet and relaxed – by Paris standards, anyway – and the metro made it easy for us to get just about anywhere in the city in just a short time. I preferred the apartment to the centrally located Paris hotels I've previously stayed in by a wide margin – the experience is completely different. The owners were quick to respond to questions and provided lots of very helpful information. Would we do it again? Yes, in a heartbeat!

Myself and two girlfriends recently visited to celebrate a milestone birthday and we had a wonderful time. The location was so near to major attractions that we were able to walk to them. The areas was great for markets and also in the evenings it had a lovely buzz with excellent choices of places to eat literally 'round the corner' from the apartment. Although the space is quite small it is really well laid out and comfortable and with the addition of the outdoor terrace it felt light and airy. Amy was so helpful with directions and tips and it is probably the cleanest rental property I have ever visited. An added unexpected boon for us was that we happened to visit over a weekend which included the 1st Sunday of the month when many major galleries are free.

My wife and I stayed at Amy and Oscar's apartment for two weeks in May 2011, and found it to be very comfortable and well furnished with everything we could possibly need/want. It is extremely well located, within walking distance to both the metro and a bus stop as well as many of the wonderful attractions of Paris. Being as close as it is to rue Mouffetard made it extremely easy to both shop at the markets and restaurant hop. When some of our French friends visited us in the apartment, their comment was "If the owners ever want to sell it, please let us know! This is a great apartment in a wonderful location."

Amy and Oscar have a lovely flat on the first floor with a private garden lush with rhodies and yellow flowering hedges. The rooms are small but that did not seem to matter. The walls are filled with beautiful paintings and crafts, and bookshelves are filled with tourist guides. The beds are very comfortable, even the pull out sofa, and I love the roll away coffee table and combo stove-oven-dishwasher! Very quiet at night being three streets in from major streets. Elementary school down the street, so don't plan on sleeping the day away.....which would be silly anyway in Paris. I have stayed in Paris hotels twice before. Paris hotels are tiny. If one of us wanted to walk, the other person had to get on the bed to make room. This is really the better way to go. Thank you for all your helpful little notes and instructions. We will be back, hopefully. Thanks for paying attention to all the details, large and small. Allison and Carly New York

My wife and I stayed here during the last week in April. This rental was perfect for our needs. Although we were gone most of the day, it was always nice to sit on the patio each evening to rest our sore feet and plan for the next day's adventures. Really loved the library of tourist-related books regarding Paris....used them frequently. The espresso machine was a nice convenience as well and not difficult for even the novice like us. The bed is comfy. Has WI-FI but bring your own laptop. Amy is first-rate in her correspondences with prospective tenants...before and after. Nice little Italian restaurant on the corner as you exit left from the apartment. Police outpost around the corner made us feel safe at all times. In addition to nearby Metro, we found a bus that easily drop us off in the Invalides and Grand Palace areas. We stayed 2 additional nights at a hotel, and the value does not even begin to compare. Lots of privacy at Amy's rental. No complaints whatsoever. Thanks for everything! My heart will always hold a special place for Paris. Bonus tip for travelers: If like us and can't speak or read French worth a hoot, I recommend finding online menus and translate and print them beforehand. Other than some restaurants we managed just fine not knowing the language. Sincerely, Steve and Roxie Jones

The apartment has everything you need for your base in Paris, comfortable surroundings, full kitchen and all the amenities that one would expect without the high cost of a Parisian hotel. My boyfriend and I (we are in our late 20s) recently rented the apartment for three nights on a recent visit to Paris. We found the apartment to be an amazing value as compared to hotel rooms, which would have cost more and offered far less space and charm. The apartment is homey, comfortable and nicely decorated. What's more, it's quiet, spacious and located in a safe neighborhood very close to the sights and markets of Paris. We hope to return to Paris and stay in the apartment again, and I have already recommended the apartment to my parents!

A perfect apartment in a perfect native Parisian location in the 5th/Latin Quarter just a block from the Rue Moffetard outdoor market, Metro, and excellent patisseries, cafe's, bistros and even a Starbucks. The one bedroom apartment can fit 4 comfortably offering all the necessities of home. A full kitchen, a private outdoor patio, privacy and a quiet neighborhood. The essential full service laundry in literally on the corner. The owners have decorated the space to make you feel at home, with a well stocked bookshelf, ipod capable stereo, open air windows and a bath to complete your experience in magical Paris. Location is accessable to all the required Paris must see sites, while being tucked away without the madness of chain stores, hotels and busloads of tourists. We have stayed in this apartment on two separate occasions during week-long vacations in Paris and would highly recommend it to anyone! Although small, the apartment is clean, cozy, comfortable and perfectly located for daily trips to the nearby Rue Moufftard farmers' market, numberous boulangeries, and a supermarket. Although it is also a close walk to the metro, one could easily cover the Left Bank on foot from here. Perhaps our favorite part, however, is the small private garden just off of the living room - we used it daily for long brunches and as an extra space for our kids to play card games, draw, or read books.

This is not staying in a tourist hotel, it is living for a few days in a real neighborhood. The bed is great! The kitchen stocks all the insignificant items that make all the difference if you want to eat in– salt, pepper, olive oil, etc. The extensive instruction and info book is invaluable– how to use everything, where to buy anything, the answers to questions you don't even know you have.

Owner response: Thanks so much, Iris and Jerry for taking the time to share your thoughts. Its the little things that help make a trip to Paris memorable and we are so glad that our apartment helped make that memory. We hope to see you on future trips to Paris.

We just returned from a week's stay at this wonderful apartment in a central area of Paris. The apartment is even better than pictured. It is clean, bright, airy and well decorated. It's on a quiet street, a short walk from Rue Mouffetard, a street with great food shops which include cheese stores, wine stores, boulangeries and butchers as well as many restaurants. It has all the comforts of home. There are fantastic take out places nearby where we shopped and ate romantic candlelight dinners in the apartment on nights we did not want to go to a restaurant. The location is very convenient, a short walk from the Metro, as well as several buses a block or two away. We enjoyed our very own garden and ate breakfast in the morning, and wine and cheese in the afternoon under the fragrant lilac tree. Thank you Amy and Oscar for creating such a homey place. We hope to return in the near future.

Owner response: Thank you Renae and Steve for your kind words. It gives us great pleasure to create a space where we want to live so that our guests feel right at home. We would welcome you back anytime.

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for a week in mid-March, and found it much to our liking. Compared with other places we’ve rented, this one had plenty of space (large bedroom with plenty of storage), charm and warmth (thanks to tasteful decoration, yellow walls and plentiful heating), natural light from the windows and French doors (what else?) opening onto a private garden, and conveniently located on the first floor of the small apartment complex. All the conveniences of home were included, right down to a stove/dishwasher combo that we managed to figure out, coffee maker, comfortable bed, and fast internet connection. It was warm enough some days to sit and read in the garden, and, since the apartment is not right on the street (in a courtyard) it was quiet throughout our stay. About the only sound we did hear was an organ grinder strolling down the street as we left the apartment one day—now that’s a quintessentially French experience to be sure. Nearby Rue Mouffetard and other local markets made eating at home with specialties from around the world and those wonderful, tasty French pastries easy and inexpensive, though there are some good restaurants nearby. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone looking for proximity to major tourist attractions, public transportation, abundant French cuisine, and the quiet, privacy, and comfort of your own home.

Owner response: Sherri, We so appreciate your taking the time to share your experience with other potential renters. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you back in Paris soon.

I visited Paris in Winter and though it was freezing outside, it was absolutely delightful in the apartment. It was warm, roomy, comfortable, with lots of windows and in such a great area of Paris. It was easy to walk to everything including an amazing farmer's market and the Rue du Mouffetard which I really enjoyed. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay in Paris.

Owner response: Thank you Christine - we hope to see you again on a future visit. We appreciate your kind comments.
