Located between Seaside and Destin in beautiful Santa Rosa Beach, "Mabel's Maple House" is situated in the gated neighborhood of Old Florida Beach. This community of approximately 40 houses is south of Scenic Highway 30A, directly on the Gulf of Mexico and adjacent to Draper Lake. There is a gazebo and community pool across the street, and direct access to the beach with its beautiful dunes, boardwalks and walkovers just steps away (500 ft). There is also a boat dock for kayaks or canoes on Draper Lake at the end of our street.
Mabel's Maple House is a Florida Cottage-style home featuring clapboard siding and a tin roof, with porches and decks on both floors. It is surrounded by native vegetation including live oaks, oleanders and wisteria. The house is comfortably furnished with lovingly-restored 1940's maple furniture (imported from our previous beach house in Ocean City, NJ), hence the name. Our decor is cottage style with seashore-inspired artwork, and is painted in lively colors such as cowslip yellow/white wainscoting, apple and moss greens, raspberry, dusty rose and sapphire blue. The house is more than adequate for two couples with up to eight collective kids. Interior space is approximately 2200 sq. ft, and there are 800 sq. ft of covered porches and decks for sunbathing.
Our location is convenient to fine dining (Bud and Alley's in Seaside, Criolla's in Grayton Beach and Fish out of Water in Watercolor), as well as funky dining with great jazz (Red Bar in Grayton Beach). We are close to Gulf Place with great shops, outdoor dining at Smiling Fish, Sunday night concerts and ice cream at Miss Lucille's. Santa Rosa Golf and Beach Club is also nearby for an interesting golf challenge as well as gulf view dining. |
