Who needs the hassle and expense of flying when you can drive someplace spectacular in just a few hours? Hop in the car and head "up north", it's a beautiful drive and there's no extra charge for your luggage!
Enjoy a charming 3 bedroom, 2 bath private home as your home base in this recreational paradise. Lutsen's ski hills are just 1/2 a mile up Ski Hill Road, you can see the ski runs from the master bedroom window. This is the best skiing in Midwest! Cross country ski, snowshoe or take dog sled and sleigh rides at Superior National's Nordic Center right across the road. Miles of snowmobile trails through incredible forests are easily accessible.
Hundreds of miles of spectacular hiking trails criss cross the forests and mountains. Mountain biking and horseback riding are available at the top of the hill. Kids of all ages will love the Alpine Slide just up the road. Ride the Gondola to the top of Moose Mountain and have lunch on the deck of the chalet, it's a spectacular view! Golfers, Superior National Golf course offers 27 holes of beautiful scenery and challenging golf right across Ski Hill Road. Bikers, the new Gitche Gami bike path lets you ride all the way to Schroeder even passing over the waterfalls of Temperance River Park. Enjoy a smooth ride on a dedicated path not shared with motorists, what a nice addition to the north shore.
Our home was professionally decorated and it's very comfortably furnished. The master bedroom suite offers a private retreat after a hard day at play. There's a whirlpool for two and a private bath and every window offers a beautiful view of mountains, trees or Lake Superior.
Set in the trees on with no buildings behind it to block the view. Every window that faces the lake has a view of the lake as does the covered deck and screen porch. There's a fire ring to gather around for evenings under the stars and let me tell you, they are spectacular here. It's the ideal vacation home for families and friends. Close to everything you love about the north shore, but away from the crowded resorts.

Lutsen's Cutest Vacation Home - 1/2 a Mile from the Ski Hills
Year Purchased: 2002
Why the Owner Chose Lutsen
We go to the north shore as often as we can, sometimes several times a year. We finally decided owning a home "up north" made sense for us so we bought a vacation home in Lutsen. Of all the areas along the north shore, Lutsen has the most activities nearby making it a great place to go for an active vacation. We love to hike, snowshoe, golf and of course, watch the "big lake", all of which we can do within 1/2 a mile of our home.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our home is one of only 12 homes that share 20 acres, it's not part of a resort so it's quiet and private but still really close to everything we love to do in Lutsen. We appreciate being out on our screen porch or deck and seeing trees and the lake, not other buildings. What made us fall in love with it is the decor. The home was built in 2001 and decorated right after September 11th so the builder's professional decorators chose a red and white and blue color scheme, it's very colorful and so unique. When we say it's cute, it really is, people love staying here.
Downhill skiing, snowboarding, Alpine Slide, Gondola, hiking, mountain bike, horseback riding trails.
Enjoy 27 holes of spectacular golf across Ski Hill Road. In the winter, the club house turns into a winter recreation center that offers dog sled, sleigh rides and beautiful snowshoe and cross countr
We are often asked how close our home is to the Lutsen Resort, it's right down Ski Hill Road and across Highway 61. We walk down to dinner or breakfast in their spectacular lakeside dining room.
You will notice construction along Highway 61, the bike path is coming! Soon you'll be able to ride bikes all the way to Cross River, a beautiful ride that will take you through scenic Temperance Riv
That's a lake? If you didn't know better, you'd swear you were looking at the ocean! Walk down to the shore and be mesmerized by it's many moods.
Two miles further up the shore is a Mobil station that stocks basic grocery items.
Owner's Map of Lutsen
If you have never tried snowshoeing, you don't know what you are missing! We are often the only people out on the trails and we can go anywhere we can hike, no need for a groomed trail. The beauty of the area is always there but there's something really special about seeing it all coated in snow. The bare trees allow for views you don't see in the summer. Strap on some snowshoes on your next winter trip and see for yourself, it's amazing!

My wife and I have stayed at this home in Lutsen three years in a row with two other couples. We just returned and can't say enough about the home. Their home is always in perfect condition. It truly feels like you're staying in your own home. It has worked great for three couples and would work great for a family vacation too. It's a great location, close to Lutsen Mountain Ski Resort, Grand Marais and Lake Superior. I'd like to thank the owners for another great vacation.
Owner response:Thank you Scott for your kind words and your continued support. We are always happy to hear how much people enjoy our home and the great location. Bob and Jo

My family enjoyed our weekend very much. Very clean, well stocked, and beautiful decor through-out. Cabin is an understatement for this beautiful home. Very peaceful the moment you walk in the front door, you feel like you could stay here forever and never leave. all expectations exceeded. The skiing was memorable for the boys, ate at Sven and Oles for dinner when we got there on friday night.
Owner response:Thanks for the great reviews! We are so happy to hear from the people that are getting a chance to stay in our Lutsen home. This winter was a great one for all snow sports enthusiasts with LOTS of snow to play in all winter. We're looking forward to the impact all of that snow melting will have on the area's many rivers, all of those dramatic waterfalls will be roaring soon. Make plans for a spring stay now, the rates are great and the rivers will be amazing!

I just had to comment on how wonderful your home is. We recently stayed two nights with a total of 3 couples in the home. It was extremely well kept, comfortable and you made it very easy to stay there. The view was incredible from the deck and the location was perfect.

What a great little place you have here Jo and Bob! Loved the simple decor and view. We really enjoyed games, movies, walks, sitting by the fire, making S'mores. We went up to Lutsen Mountain - what a view! Did the Alpine Slide several times, great fun. All in all, a great 4 days enjoying family in a wonderful vacation home. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!

Hello Jo, I just wanted you to know that my mom, her friend, my sister and I all enjoyed your lovely home in Lutsen. It is a great set up and the location and views are wonderful. It was also exceptionally clean, which we all appreciated as well. I sure hope to stay with you again. I've told 3 people in my office about your home.
