The Sunshine Ridge Guest House is a 6,000 square foot, seven bedroom, four and a half bath beautiful log home, featured in the March 2001 issue of Log Home Design Ideas. It is located on 40 acres of conservation land, but is only a 10 minute drive to the town of Glenwood Springs and five miles from Sunlight Mountain Ski Resort.
The house features a gourmet kitchen, complete with six burner Viking stove, oversized Sub-zero refrigerator, granite countertops, and Spanish tile floors. The open area surrounding the kitchen has cherry flooring, cathedral log ceiling and a 23 foot high fireplace. There are glass doors leading from the dining area to a huge patio with spectacular views.
There is also a large deck, looking out over a beautiful valley and the mountains beyond, which can be accessed from doors in the sunken living room, or from two upstairs bedrooms.
The house was built in 2001. Extensive renovations were completed in December 2005. These include a new upper level master suite, a new lower level master suite, and a beautiful lower level recreation room. The house features wireless broadband and high speed cable internet access. The Sunshine Ridge Guest House is ideally located for an adventurous Colorado vacation. But once you arrive you may never want to leave!
Relaxing by the beautiful fireplace
VRBO Bear stayed here - 10/18/2009 As we drove up the driveway, my companions and I were immediately impressed with the beautiful “Sunshine Ridge Guest House” that sits on 40 mountainside acres. As we entered this wonderful home, our visit only got better. The warm entryway led us into the expansive gourmet kitchen and dining area which also housed a wonderful fireplace. On the opposite side of the fireplace was a sitting area featuring an additional fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows and a large deck to show off the surrounding Glenwood Springs scenery. Every window that we looked out offered amazing views of the mountains, meadows, horses and wildlife.
This amazing home boasted seven bedrooms that were fabulously decorated and very inviting, as well as the large game room with a big screen TV and pool table. The large, professionally installed patio in the back featured plenty of furniture and a large grill. It was a great place to soak up the warm sun in the morning! We also had no problem parking four vehicles in the garage/driveway area with plenty of room to spare.
The seven bedrooms were located in the wings of the “Sunshine Ridge Guest House”. One upstairs wing included a master king bedroom and large master bathroom while the second upstairs wing included a king bedroom with a second bedroom that had a full sized bed and a twin bed. These two rooms shared a beautiful Jack-n-Jill bathroom. One downstairs wing featured a bedroom with a king bed with a bedroom that had two twin beds with another Jack-n-Jill bathroom connecting them. The second downstairs wing offered another king bedroom with another bathroom connecting it to a bedroom with a queen bed. When it was time to turn in for the night, we all felt cozy and warm given the abundant amounts of privacy the home’s floor plan provided.
My 15 companions and I enjoyed great family meals and conversation as we all sat together around the spacious dining room table. The large gourmet kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to cook any meal and allowed room for MORE than one cook. The recreation and game rooms downstairs were welcoming and well furnished. We watched football on the large screen TV and I beat everyone at several games of pool. The recreation room featured a futon couch and pull-out bed as an additional sleeping option. We also spent a lot of time outside hiking and exploring the beautiful acreage of conservation land around the Sunshine Ridge Guest House.
The “Sunshine Ridge Guest House” was conveniently located. It was only a 15-minute scenic drive to the house from the quaint shops in downtown Glenwood Springs, local restaurants, the Hot Springs Pool, and the Iron Mountain Tramway to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.
A visit to this spectacular vacation home will not be a disappointment. Every moment you spend here will be a treasure trove of memories that will last a lifetime.

Glenwood Springs Amazing 7 Bedroom Vacation Rental House
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Glenwood Springs
In 2005, we visited Glenwood Springs and immediately loved the town and the people. We stayed at a B&B during our visit in Glenwood and became friends with the owners who shared their love of the town with us. There was a house for sale that was located nearby the B&B, and we went to look at it just for fun. We fell in love the moment we stepped in the door. As we walked around the house, we felt the warmth and comfort of the home. We were in awe of the panoramic views during the day, and the stars at night. We both agreed that this was a place we wanted to share with others. We could see that the house, inside and out, would be a great place to create many happy memories.
The Unique Benefits at this Log Home
We love visiting the Sunshine Ridge Guest House because the property and the town offer so many options. The drive up through the Glenwood Canyon is amazing; certainly our favorite. As soon as you drive into town, you are greeted by the therapeutic hot springs. If you look up the mountain, you can see the gondolas ascending to the Glenwood Caverns and amusement area. Then we are always comforted by the small mountain town feel of Grand Avenue, the main street through the town of Glenwood. There are mountain boutiques, outdoor equiptment shops, great restaruants and many historic points of interest. After you pass though town, you will head up scenic 4 mile road to the house. The views of Mt. Sopris are breathtaking and the red canyons are worth stopping for to take a few photos. When you see the driveway of the house, you know you are officially at the mountain "retreat", and it is time for relaxation and fun. Welcome Home. You may never want to leave.
Ski, cross country ski, snowmobile, horse back riding only 5 miles away from the house. Sunlight is a wonderful family ski area with great prices and great snow(without the crowds!) Come see for yours
Glenwood Hot Springs just 8 miles away from the house. It is in the Historic town of Glenwood Springs and is great for the whole family.
The best coffee in town! They also have great crepes and pastries. Yum!
A great place for the whole family. The caverns are open year round and the rides are tame, but lots of fun. To get up to the Caverns/Amusement Park you get to ride in a Gondola overlooking the town
Owner's Map of Glenwood Springs
We live on the Front Range in Colorado, and love visiting the beautiful mountains often. Our family enjoys all of the outdoor activities that the mountains offer. We adore our two dogs and enjoy volunteering to train seeing eye puppies. We have traveled the world, and our family still agrees that Colorado is our favorite place to be -spring, summer, winter and fall. The views are spectacular, the weather is great, the people are kind and there are endless opportunities for fun and relaxation. The managers of the Sunshine Ridge Guest House are our dear friends who own a Bed & Breakfast located one mile away from the house. They have lived in Glenwood Springs for many years and are a wealth of knowledge about the area and neighboring towns. They are wonderful managers and neighbors.
