Relax on a tree-shaded deck with a day of lazy reading, a soak in the hot tub or a night under the stars.
Grand View Chalet: minutes away from the Maggie Valley Club clubhouse and first tee, nice walks, hikes, waterfalls, Lake Junaluska, great restaurants, the famous Ghost Town in the Sky, White Water Rafting, Fantasy Golf, and Cataloochee Ski Resort among many other attractions. Also, close to grocery stores, places of worship and the hospital. Waynesville, a quaint town 5 miles away, has great cultural events, restaurants, shopping, and is a great place to visit. Take a short day trip to Asheville to see the famous Biltmore House or try your luck at Cherokee Casino.

My family and I just got home from our spring vacation in Maggie Valley. I would firstly like to say that I have never in my life stayed somewhere on vacation that had so many amenities and had such a large amount of linens and other things you might need for a vacation. Paul and Kitty have taken such good care of this place and have made it into a fantastic vacation spot. That being said, the only negative things that I would ever have to say is that the hot tub didn't stay warm (however that surely had to do with the wind ripping up the hillside and across the tub) and a few of the pieces of the individual jets themselves were missing, rendering only a few of the spots in the hot tub "invigoratingly relaxing". That being said, it was still a covered porch with a hot tub so I can't complain. I also thought that it was really cool, despite not using it, that there was a popup kennel for a dog available for use.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for your kind review. Extreme cold, which was the case, and the cover off for long periods make it hard to maintain the tub temperature. We have new jets on order and will install them as soon as they arrive.

The Grand View Chalet was one the best rentals I have stayed in. Paul & Kitty were a pleasure to deal with on the rental and the house is well equipped and very comfortable. It had the feeling of "Home" not just a place to stay. There is plenty of seating in the living room area for TV viewing an hanging out recapping our day's adventures. The kitchen was well equipped so the view items I forgot to bring I was happy to find at the house. We arrived along with the first snow of the season. It was perfect weather for using the fireplace and soaking in the hot tub. The house is just a short drive from Cherokee and The Smokey Mountains as well as Asheville. Plenty of good places to eat near by in Maggie Valley and in Waynesville. The house is very private and has nice views from the deck. I would highly recommend The Grand View Chalet to anyone wanting to stay in this area. It will definitely be at the top of my list if I have another opportunity to spend time in Maggie Valley.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful stay on the "other side of the mountain". This cabin was very well maintained, clean, well stocked in the kitchen, good directions as to use electronics and hot tub and located in a private area with a great view. It is really the way to go instead of a motel as you have so much more family time and can really feel at home with the DVDs, books and games that are available for your enjoyment. The owners were always a telephone away and eager to help if you had a problem. The dogs also enjoyed the outside area. We enjoyed the hiking, waterfalls, Indian area, Waynesville and our men really enjoyed the "Wheels of Time" (old motorcycles and cars). We stayed 4 nights in Gatlinburg (in a cabin) and 3 nights in this cabin and everyone like this one better even though the other was bigger with a pool table. We hope to be able to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We met another couple halfway at this fabulous cabin and had a fantastic time! The cabin was very comfortable, had a very stocked kitchen and everything you could possibly need, including games and coloring books! We brought both of the dogs, and they had a fantastic time hanging out on the deck with us looking at the beautiful surrounding views! Paul and Kitty could not have been more accommodating!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We went up for a long weekend and were so glad we chose this property. It was so organized, so cozy and so private. We could not have asked for a better place. We loved the hot tub! We will be returning again next year, if not sooner. The owners were wonderful to us and made sure we had everything we needed for the weekend. We had warm weather in the day, but the fires at night made us feel at home. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the view from the beautiful porch. It was great.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our Christmas vacation at the Grand View Chalet was amazing. This beautiful home looks just like the pictures and more. It is warm and cozy on the inside and grand and majestic on the outside. The home was very clean and decorated perfectly. Dining, groceries, and attractions such as skiing and tubing are all a very short drive away. The drive to Biltmore is very easy and only about 50 minutes. We were snowed in for about a day and half and Paul and Kitty were most helpful. I called several times and they were always very nice. Our son and dog enjoyed playing in the snow in the spacious yard and driveway. If travelling in the winter I highly recommend a 4-wheel drive or snow chains as the driveway is very steep. I would, and already have recomended this property to a friend as I feel it is the only way to stay in Maggie Valley. We stayed at Grand View Chalet in Feb. 2010 with another family - total of 4 adults, 4 kids. We had a great time skiing, then playing and relaxing at the Chalet. It was very clean and comfortable, plenty of room. The hot tub worked great and we made great use of the kitchen. I looked to book again this year, but it is already taken for the dates we are looking for.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband & I stayed at the Grand View Chalet Oct.24, 2010 to Oct. 29,2010. The chalet was very clean & all photos on-line were exactly what we found. This home is very comfortable and the views are outstanding. Very relaxing. The chalet is easy to find and is conveniently located in Maggie Valley. Working with the owners was very pleasant and timely. We had no problems. I would recommend this home to my family and friends. I will be booking another vacation at this mountain chalet. The colors were beautiful. Pleanty of restaurants on the main road. Ate in most of the time but we did eat at the Maggie Valley Family Restaurant-the best breakfast in town. Only a short drive to Cherokee.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family had a wonderful time at Grand View. The home was perfect for our group - great layout and very clean and well maintained. It was located close to attractions in Maggie Valley and Waynesville, and just a short 30-minute drive to Asheville. I would definitely recommend this home!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: Grand View Chalet is owned by Kitty and Paul. It’s the only rental/vacation home they own and manage. They purchased it about 4 years ago after retiring to North Carolina. They became familiar with Maggie Valley when some of their children attended college in the area. At one time they planned to retire to Waynesville, which is very near Maggie Valley, but circumstances drew them to another part of North Carolina. They choose Grand View Chalet for its private setting and wonderful view and the fact it is close to shopping, good restaurants, skiing, hiking trails, and many areas of interest such as Ashville and the Smoky Mountains. After purchasing the house they remodeled and refurnished most of the house inside and out. This included new flooring and rugs, painting inside and out, repaving the parking area and installing a new hot tub. They love to spend time there when they can and managing it keeps them busy when added to the many other activities of retirement.
