Location: Paris Arrondissement 4, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe (Very close to subways, bus, bike rentals, very central) View Map
Accommodations: Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
Keywords: Flat on top floor (with elevator) of a clean and cosy building, in the upscale and animated area of Marais. Very central and easy location.
The apartment is loved by all. It is a very calm and quiet place, in the middle of Paris rush and very animated area of Le Marais. It faces away from the street and is very sunny, at the top floor (with elevator) of an 18th Century beautiful building.
The area is very secure and there are things to see at every corner. This is the historic center of Paris, and the most central location in the city. From there, you have access to everything very easily.
The apartment is beautifully equipped and very comfortable. Redone recently, amongst the roofs of Paris, it has a unique charm, and it is the ideal place to feel truly Parisian. Although it can accommodate in reality up to 5 people (1 queen size bed, 1 convertible, and 1 non convertible sofa large enough to host an adult), it is best for 2. It is a 50 sq meters flat.
We have had guests from the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, New Zealand, Germany and so far our "Livre d'Or" is full of praises (Paris and vacation may have helped!)
Our rates are degressive, all inclusive and very clearly described in our website, hence no trouble or trust issues with our clients. We try to be accomodating regarding arrival times because of air flights and arrange for someone to meet you in the flat upon arrival and departure.
There is a small selection of DVDs in the flat, including a childrens choice, but we recommend you to bring some of yours. The Internet connection is fast and steady, with wifi. A stereo in the living room offers a possibility to connect your Ipod / Mp3.
There is no air conditioning but the atmosphere is cooled by the many windows facing every directions, and we have fans. Although Paris summer can be hot, it is dry and very nice.
There are books on the shelves in English and French, and a French / English bookstore 2 minutes away in the street (owned by a passionate reader, who is of great advice). More generally, you will find every kind of stores (boulangerie, foodstore, cheese, wine... at the street corner. There are also many nice restaurants (or fancy ones!). The area is just exquisite.
Our calendar is always up to date, and we respond to mails quickly. We rent abroad frequently and know exactly what you need!
We usually ask for a 200 Euros down payment by Paypal (or more for long stays), although some tenants are Internet-reluctant and have preferred to organize bank wires, or to send cheques. We are very flexible. We ask also for a safety deposit upon check in which is refunded upon check out (200 Euros or 200 dollars, any currecny would be fine). Since 2008, we never had to withdraw a peeny from any of these deposits.
I do not know if this luck or if people are nicer in real life than on TV, but we never had any problem. Some of our tenants were so happy and homely that they even replaced the coffee machine they had broken by a much better one (you do NOT have to do that, these incidents happen, and are included in our rates).
After almost 4 years, we really feel that renting this place is rewarding in more ways than just money. We wanted to share the flat we loved and lived in, and are just very happy that people enjoy it. Most of the pics you will see here (the ones with current set of furnitures) have been taken by a tenant who sent them to us saying he thought our flat deserved better pics than our own!
We grant a 10% discount to tenants when they come back to the place.

Lovely & Quiet Flat in the Historic Center of Paris (Marais)
Year Purchased: 2000
Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 4
I lived in the appartment for more than 7 years and I loved it so much I could not sell it. I started renting in early 08. Its location in the center of Paris and in the historical area made it perfect for tourism and sightseeing. I wante to make as many people as I could enjoy the place as much as I did.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
The calm, the light, the roofs, it is like a house on top of Paris, and the location is extraordinary
Owner's Map of Paris Arrondissement 4
When I moved from this flat, I could not move away from the area. There are so many nice shops, restaurants, cafés around... So I moved to another building in the same street 100 meters away...

Great place to stay!

I have just stayed here and found it absolutely delightful - and I have traveled widely and have high (some might say finicky) standards. Arnaud and his sister Ariane were attentive, accommodating, helpful, and friendly; available when needed, unobtrusive when not. The apartment was just as described online - lovely and quiet; and the location is tremendous - everything you might want, from the glossy and funky boutiques of the Marais to everyday bakeries, groceries, and pharmacies, is literally just outside the door. It's within a few hundred yards of the Metro, and a short walk to Hotel de Ville station, which puts you directly on Line 1, the tourist's best friend (stops at the Louvre, the Place de la Concorde, the Champs Elysees, and the Arc de Triomphe). It is also an easy walk to Chatelet-Les Halles station, Paris' transportation hub, where you can get multiple metro lines and the RER to CDG airport. I immediately settled in and just pretended to live in Paris for a week. The apartment was comfortable and warm, with great sunlight in the afternoons, and totally silent and restful at night, a major commodity in Paris. In addition to the great appeal of the apartment itself, don't underestimate the importance of having an elevator, a rarity in central Paris. At the end of a long day of museum-going/shopping/strolling, coming back to your apartment and having to face a long slog up three or four flights of stairs can be heavy going. But this apartment offers both the luxury of rooftop views and open sky AND the luxury of an elevator. The first time I came home with bags of groceries I was very glad I made this choice! In addition, the apartment has an unusual floor plan that makes it feel bigger than it is, with kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom each forming its own "wing" of the apartment, converging on a central space; and this, together with its location at the very top of the building, gives every room (including the bathroom, which does indeed have a view of the top of the Centre Pompidou!) its own unique and romantically Parisian perspective of interior courtyards, chimney pots, and mansard roofs. I found this much more charming than the conventional layout of other apartments. And yet the price is very reasonable, both compared with the cost of a tiny Paris hotel room, and also with other short-term rental apartments in the Marais which usually offer no more space or amenities. I loved it here and would happily stay again.

The apartment was wonderful - more than we expected. It was located at the back of a well secured building on the 5th floor - there was an elevator. There were lots of windows for a cross-breeze so no AC was not an issue. There was a very large livingroom, with TV, table & chairs and two couches - great for afternoon naps. One of the couches was a sofa bed - very suitable for a 3rd person or a couple of kids. Free wifi. The kitchen had a full-size fridge, microwave, stovetop, dishwasher and washing machine - there was a rack for drying clothes. The apartment was clean and very functional. My only fault were the towels - there were four large towels primarily for showering, but they were scratchy for using on faces. Better towels would have been a plus. The apartment was located about a 10 minute walk to Hotel d'Ville and the Metro, 20 min to Notre Dame. There were lots of restaurants and grocery stores in the area. The area was well lit, and we felt safe all the time. Highly recommended.

We found the flat quiet and well outfitted. The location was great so you can walk or take the tube.

The service was great. Any questions we had were dealt with quickly. The location was quiet and central. We walked everywhere and occasionally took the subway. Due to the location both choices were easily available. The place was clean and spacious. Restaurants, coffee shops, markets and bakeries are all near by.

We spent a month here, and found everyday to be a new experience. The apartment felt like home all the time we were there. Quiet, lots of sun light, cool evening breezes and a perfect location. What few problems we had were handled well. A very memorable experience. Loved the neighborhood, the Morais.

. Great apartment, very charming and quiet. Arnoud and Ariane always very attentive. We stayed for two weeks in July, I, my husband and our 7 year old daughter. The location is very privileged, you have everything close by. Surely we will return soon.

My wife and I have been renting apartments here for the past thirty-some years - usually for monthy, or longer, periods. This winter was our first stay in this property; hopefully, it will not be our last, for it is the first place we will check for availability when we return. Marvelous location, secure, quiet, well furnished, and attentively maintained, it is at the top of our list. Highly recommended!

We stayed in April for a week. Unfortunately with the volcanic ash, we were trapped in Paris for five extra days. Arnaud was sooo very accomodating and let us stay in the apartment the entire time. We were so thankful! This apartmnet is in an absolutely perfect location - close to everything - we walked everywhere. I highly recommend this apartment. We always felt safe - no better place than the Marais!

We stayed for 8 days in May and loved it. It is spacious, quiet, full of light, has a lot of storage space, well equipped kitchen, internet for our laptop and an excellent bed. And the coolest part - we could see pompidou center from the shower... It was a great place to come back to after sightseeing in Paris

We had a wonderful stay in early July 2009. This is a great great location to walk around the Marais, get to Notre Dame, and convenient for bakeries, groceries and produce.Top floor apartment was quiet, storage space excellent and up to date kitchen and cleaning appliances.Owner pays attention to detail in providing a range of comforts after long days of Parisian walks. Our best hostess was Ariane who helped us get settled into this contemporary quarters. Would love to return!

The photos and all the comments about the flat are valid. Don't underestimate the value of the peace and quiet of the flat. Ariane manages the flat in a most friendly way. Be sure to have her phone number in your wallet - just in case you have the misfortune of locking yourself out of the flat!! An excellent choice for a holiday in Paris.
