The palm-dotted sand beach fronting the property is popular with windsurfers and offers exquisite sunsets. Located on the longest continuous sand beach on Maui, Kauhale Makai is just 100 yards from the ocean, with public swimming beaches and lifeguards minutes away.
A central common area includes five gas barbecue grills, three picnic tables, a pool surrounded by a sundeck, a hot tub, a sauna and a children’s pool. The beautifully landscaped grounds also include shuffleboard and lounge chairs for sunbathing or watching the sunsets. Our "special" vacation after we first married was to Hawaii. We never forgot that trip and 30 years later we finally purchased our own place in Maui. Kauhale Makai is central to the Island of Maui, so it is a short drive to Lahaina, Wailea, Makena and Maalea Harbor. It is a great starting place for your trip to Hana, Lahaina, Wailea or Mt Haleakala. Perfect place for your wedding or honeymoon.

This is a favorite wind & kite surfing spot and fantastic snorkeling beaches are nearby. There is a sandy beach with shady spots to relax, for a morning run or for romantic sunset walks during your stay. There are picnic areas, grills, swimming pool, kiddie pool, hot tub and sauna at the resort. The humback whales enjoy the shelter of our bay for berthing season.
Snorkel and Dive Charters to Molokini crater, whale watch and sunset cruises are only minutes away. If you're lucky you'll catch glimpses of whales and dolphins.

Maureen and I grew up and live in Northern Michigan. We enjoy the lakes and beautiful seasons of our home state, but we love the ocean, the wonderful people and fantastic weather found on the islands. This is my among my best snorkeling and scuba diving adventures.

My husband and I loved the unit. The description of the unit was accurate. Great ocean and mountain views. Fantastic, central location. The the entire unit, including the kitchen was very well equipped. I was not expecting all the little extras like laundry soap and beach towels. The unit was very clean and had obviously been updated recently. Since it was our first trip to Maui, it was great that Doug (the owner) could answer our questions about maui and he was quick to respond to emails. Plus the there was a whole binder on everything maui in the unit along with a guide book and road to hana cds. If we ever come back I would stay here again. If your off to Maui for the first time here are my recommendations: road to hana, waihee ridge trail, little beach. Wokstar international noodle house for quick, delicious and cheap meals. Joy's place is also great for lunch.

Village by the Sea was our home for three weeks in Febuary '11. This was one of the best rentals my Wife and have experienced in our thirty five years of traveling togeather. The unit was spotless when we arrived. The carpet looks brand new,the appliances are top grade, the beds wonderful, and the view from the Lani,is hard to explain. Greg called us just to make sure all was well (never had that before) . The grounds are great,the pool is nice, the BQ area is a place to chat, and the sunsets are like from a different world. Greg's place comes with my highest marks. If you are looking for a place that is in like new condition, with a great view of the ocean, then Greg's place, is the place to rent

We spent 8 nights in Greg's condo, and thanks him so much for sharing this wonderful condo. South Kihei is quite convenient location to travel to West Maui and South Maui, though I thought that I might choose to stay in West Maui and South Maui both at the beginning, I am happy that we do it in one location. Greg has everything you need in the condo, we love the boogie boards and use beach chair all the time, he even has a rice cooker in the kitchen! The BBQ oven is easy to use and kept very clean, we love to have a BBQ feast to end each great day there. I would recommend this place to my friends who travel to Maui for sure. Btw, we met so many Canadian there! : )

We had a great stay at this condo fm 1-19 May 10. Very reasonable rates, great views and a friendly staff! The condo is well equiped and very updated. After looking at a few other condos in the Village by the Sea, we can tell Greg spent some money and time upgrading/remodeling his condo. The grounds & landscaping are well taken care of and the BBQ/pool area are well kept. Central Kihei is a great location to travel/sightsee to either end of the island. We'll definitely contact Greg the next time we travel to Maui.

We truly enjoyed everything this condo had to offer. Upon arrival, we watched the sunset and took beautiful pictures from the beach fronting the condo. The condo itself is beachfront, but very private. We rarely saw others around the condo over the course of our stay. Parking was very close. Our friends stayed in a hotel down the road and paid more for a small room without a kitchen or any of the extras we enjoyed! The unit itself is fully equipped with everything needed! We cooked often because the kitchen is stocked with all the necessities (and some extras!) and we wanted to enjoy the condo itself. There are also little things that made a huge difference, such as having 2 tv's, radio, dvd player, printer, phone, beach chairs, and fishing poles available for use. My favorite "extra" was the jet tub, which was so relaxing! We hope to take advantage of the outdoor amenities (pool/jacuzzi/sauna/bbq) the next time we stay:) Greg is an excellent host! Emails were responded to quickly and he even called once just to check how things were going and if we had everything we needed. The office staff were courteous and helpful. To top it off, the price was excellent! My husband and I will definitely be back to stay here the next time we travel to Maui:) Mahalo nui, Greg!

My new bride and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The location was easy to get to from the beaches we wanted to be on. The beach right outside wasn't much, but it's very easy to get to the others. It's location in North Kihei also made it very convenient to get to all parts of the island. The condo was very well-maintained and clean. The owners and the staff were wonderful! We were especially thankful for their hospitality. The location was also very quiet which helped make it relaxing all the time! We truly did have a beautiful time and would definitely recommend staying here. The views of the ocean, West Maui, and Haleakala were great!
Recommended for:Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

This property was excellent. It was very clean and was fully-stocked regarding kitchen appliances/utensils and beach toys. Also, everything worked, from the sliding doors, kitchen appliances, tv, internet, and lights. It's located down the street from A LOT of restaurants and easy to find.
