We feel like we won the jackpot with this casita! Warmer weather drew us to Taos from Minnesota. We had never spent time in the area before and were not disappointed. After a fun day of exploring, it was fantastic to relax in the hot tub overlooking both the desert and the snow-capped mountains. We tried to make it back to the casita each evening to enjoy the sunset from either the deck or hot tub. The road leading to the casita was a little rough, but it was kind of nice to have to slow down and enjoy the view. The casita has been charmingly decorated and everything we needed was available. Our hosts, Mary and Maggie, were helpful, friendly and just plain wonderful. And, our dog enjoyed playing with host dog, Patzci. We loved the casita so much that we extended our stay another night. This is one of the best vacation rentals we have stayed in and highly recommend it.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

We stayed at the casita for four nights in early March, just when the weather was getting warmer. It was a delight to soak in the hot tub in the evening after long days of hiking and adventuring and we found the decoration and accommodations of the casita to fit our needs perfectly. We had looked at a lot of places and ended up being really glad we'd chosen this one-- it looks even better in person than in the pictures. Comfortable and picturesque, we'd recommend this Home away from Home to any single, couple, or small family of travelers. Thanks to Mary and Maggie for your hospitality and for affording us as much privacy as we needed. Five stars!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband, daughter and myself just spent a wonderful 3 nights here. We loved being out of town, but close enough if we wanted to head in. Every evening after a day of skiing we enjoyed the sunset while relaxing in the hot tub. Our little dog was comfortable and welcomed. The views are breathtaking. Wonderful price, great location and we look forward to returning!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

I cut my teeth as an archaeologist working in the Taos area decades ago, and manage to return every year or so. I can say unequivocably that this is the nicest casita my wife and I have stayed in. The location was wonderful--terrific sky views at night, and endless vistas to the west and southwest across the Taos Plateau during the day. In the morning the sun lights up the top of Pueblo Peak; beautiful. The property was very clean and well maintained, including the hot tub, which we used every evening during cocktail hour (despite the January temperatures, it was nice and hot). The decor was very tasteful and comfortable. Maggie and Mary were perfect hosts--always available but not overbearing. I can hardly wait to return!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

My husband and I own a retail shop and really wanted a peaceful getaway after the holidays, we got this and more. The little casita is really lovely with wonderful decor and great attention to detail. The bedding was super soft, the Ralph Lauren towels were plush and the hand blown drinking glasses are examples of great little touches. The views were stupendous, really panorama, fabulous. The casita is about 10 miles out of town so you get the feeling of being in the country but the town is close enough for convenience. The Casita is good for a couple, if you need more room, Mary and Maggie have a two bedroom house we alsp stayed at and loved. We will definitely stay here again. Mary and Maggie are amazing and made us feel so welcome. Check out the wonderful painting in the casita by Maggie:) The only thing I would suggest is do not trust your GPS on finding the casita, go by Maggie and Mary's directions,GPS was really off! Make sure and check out the stars! Cindy and Charlie Omaha, NebraskaRecommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Lovely casita, not much more to say, we enjoyed the stay, everything was great. We were not familiar with the artist Frieda until we flipped through the book on the table and watched the CD, nice treat and fun to notice her artwork and photo as we traveled. I personally would like to know about the nominal cleaning fee up front for budgeting purposes, it was nominal so we made it work. Highly recommend this lovely, well decorated casita.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: I appreciate the positive comments & 5-Star rating left by this guest! However, I would like to clarify that I do provide an accurate & upfront quote for all expenses associated with the rental, including the cleaning fee, in response to each & every inquiry. I forwarded this guest a copy of the original email which I sent in response to her intitial inquiry: it contained my quote for her stay which included the cleaning fee! :)

I traveled solo to Taos, and wanted somewhere where I could get away and this Casita was exactly what I was looking for. A little north of town, but still convenient to visit Taos and all attractions outside of Taos. Spectacular views day and night. The unit is as described, clean, warm and all of the interior decoration makes it really cozy. Great sheets and towels. Maggie was really helpful when I looked for advice or information on Taos related things. I would recommend this property to friends, and I hope to return and stay in their larger house with friends.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We had never been to Taos. The casita was perfect for 2 adults and Maggie and Mary were the perfect hostesses and sources of local information. Everything in the casita was first class and the setting was beautiful, private and restful. We enjoyed being outside of town but the proximity to everything was very convenient. We will definitely visit again.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

The VRBO photos and description of the Artist Guest House led my wife and I to believe it would be a very nice place to spend 10 days in the Taos area. The property far exceeded our expectations. It is quaint, beautiful, and homey, without a doubt the quietest, most relaxing place we've ever stayed. Moreover, Mary and Maggie are superb hosts. We felt instantly as if they were our new neighbors and friends--always available to help, but never intrusive. We plan to return next summer.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

The pictures and description were accurate and the property was very clean. I was worried about closet space, but the cabinet next to the bathroom was equipped with hangers and enough space for a weeks worth of clothes. We met Maggie on our first morning while we were walking our dog, and she is a lovely person. The views of the mountains at sunset were incredible!! We also had hot air ballons every morning. Our dog enjoyed chasing the lizards and laying in the sun on the deck. The hot tub was very enjoyable. We would book this adorable place again and would recommend it to our friends. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is a good idea as the road leading to the home is ROUGH!!, but well worth the drive. Our favorite restaurant was Grahams!! We had a wonderful breakfast on the patio (dog friendly) and lunch again the next day. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, located in Angel Fire, is an experience that everyone should take the time to see. My husband is a Vietnam Veteran and we were both moved by the Memorial. Thanks to Mary and Maggie we had a lovely stay and are looking forward to another trip to Taos in the near future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
