Finishing of the walkout basement completed in winter 2010. Includes large bedroom and sitting area plus full bath.

The cottage description doesn't do it justice. It is absolutely impeccible. Looks brand new with everything you need for a super, relaxing vacation. Waking up in either of the beds result in spectacular views. Spent every morning having coffee enjoying the view. Mary and Bill provided a wealth of local knowledge. Propane lobster cooker provided for the $3.50/lb lobster!! :-) Can't think of a better place to kick back, relax, unwind and enjoy life. Cindy & JonDid you find this review helpful? We first stayed here two years ago and returned this summer as we loved it so much. The cottage is a lovely place to stay - a home away from home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This was our second stay and it was even better than the first. The view is amazing, sunrises spectacular and we could not ask for more privacy. From the deck we saw eagles, osprey and this year seals. There are few restaurants close by but lobster is available on the docks in several nearby places. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything we needed and more to make wonderful locally sourced meals. I would recommend this vacation rental to anyone seeking a quiet, scenic getaway.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My family of 4 stayed here for 2 weeks in mid-July. The house is just as nice as it looks on the rental site. It is located very central to a number of area attractions. We even had a couple of family members stay for a few days, and it still didn't feel crowded. Walking the Great Bar at low tide was a thrill for the kids. Lobster aplenty is available for purchase just a few miles away. While we were able to gather all the mussels we could eat right from the ocean. The owners were very easy to work with as well. I would recommend this house to anyone who is looking for a nice oceanfront location, at a very reasonable price.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Property was completely as described. Had everything necessary for an excellent vacation. Super clean, airy, roomy, perfectly maintained. Service by owner was above and beyond. Met all our needs and expectations. Have been staying in this area for the last 20 plus years, and by far this was the best. Visited Calais, Ellsworth, and local sites and towns. A very restful vacation, glorious scenery. Walked the sand bar and beach and nearby area. Booked again for next year's vacation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and I had the good fortune to stay here in September of 2010. If you're looking for a place to relax, commune with nature and yet be within easy distance of places and people, this is it. This is the nicest, cleanest, most thoughtfully designed place to stay. The cottage is beautifully situated with the pictured view (it really does look like that) right out the window. It is wonderful to sleep undisturbed even with the windows open - and at high tide you can hear the gently lapping waves in the distance. The cottage is neat as a pin and stocked with every kitchen gadget you'd ever need - (and a washer and dryer). Mary and Bill have thought of everything and are conveniently nearby and very knowledgeable about the area. It is an easy drive to Acadia National Park with its bike trails. Campobello (FDR's summer home) is within easy driving distance and is a must-see for any history buff.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This is a very nice cottage: well equipped, clean, comfortable and conveniently located to many great areas to visit. The view from the deck is wonderful. There is a lot to enjoy in Washington County if you like getting away from the crowds. We enjoyed lobster fresh from the docks of Jonesport a few times, crabmeat and fresh blueberries. Be sure to have fish chowder at Helen's in East Machias while staying here. If you go to Lubec stop in Monica's for the best chocolates ever!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

We spent a week at this charming "cottage"(it is so much more than that) and had a wonderful time there. The pictures posted on the website are exactly the way the property and cottage looks, clean, exceptionally equipped. The owners have thought of everything. We enjoyed lots of quiet time sitting on the deck, reading books, listening to music and walking out on the Great Bar at low tide. Enjoyed lobster, right off the dock in nearby Beals. It was the "escape" vacation that we were looking for and plan on returning.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We drove from Michigan and it was a long drive, but when we walked in the door of this beautiful place, we realized it was well worth it! The view was awesome and sitting on the deck overlooking the wonderful view words cannot describe. One morning I saw something swimming up to the shore by the deck, it walked out of the water and I was surprised to see it was a small deer. The cottage is decorated beautifully and Mary has everything you could need. You just bring the groceries. We traveled to many of the surrounding cities to site see, and had a very great vacation! I would recommend this cottage to anyone who needs to getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, or for those who want to renew some romance. A wonderful place, and I hope to be able to return there someday!Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, romantic getaway.
